I've been playing it exactly with the epic build you've been using since you suggested it and I've improved my results a lot, thanks for what you do for the community!
Ombra, I love your videos and the resources you put out for the community, they are amazing!! Thanks for this. I do want to point out that there are specific cases where initiative Sauron is good. I am running it with two nazgul skills (Witch King with refined relic and Khamul) and the main objective is not stealing buffs but rather amplify their nazgul skills in the pre-battle stage. Also it is 13% chance of stealing specifically white council, however, it is additive so the chance of stealing at least one buff is 13% white council, + 13% white rider + 13% kingly kin + 13% last alliance, etc... can be quite high. I am finding a lot of success beacuse the chances of finding krakens with initiative higher than 65 (which is my current gear) is very low. Just sharing in case someone wants to run it like that, highly recommend.
and with this build not only do you always have the same chances of stealing all the skills except the GtW ones, but you can also make beorn self-destruct and at the same time protect your other commanders and be invincible. I am truly convinced that this is currently the best choice ever. For me the numbers speak clearly.
The last thing you explained seems obvious but I had never thought about it, having an immortal formation is practically a passive damage reduction for the other formations
Great video. I still think deceiver procs way more than it should so the actual math is a lot different to the theoretical math making the other build more meta for now still. It also seems to normally get both gtw and sauron for example if given the chance to high makes it game changing and allows people to punch up winning fights with smaller accounts. If running tank may as well run Frodo.
For me it's the exact opposite XD For a low level player trying to compete with a higher level player there is really no possibility of using the other build. Because Sauron needs a much larger investment than Gtw to have high initiative. So no, 99.9% of players don't even have to think about the choice, because if you aim for initiative and are still slower, you get 0% chance of stealing something from GTW. Having said this also for the top 0.1%, based on the numbers that can be observed, and not on personal impressions, these are the mathematical evidences that I have been able to observe and I assure you that if I say it it is because I really mean it :) Telling the truth always brings much more criticism than going with the flow but I have to give the advice I think is right to all the players, to allow them to do the best they can :)
@@ombrartw completely agree with you i just think if running a tank in this way may as well be Frodo ive just skipped through my last 22 fights. 16 I have had sauron cause me madness pre battle to either gandalf sauron or both
I don’t understand the math here? If there’s an 35% chance and madness hits 50% of the time shouldn’t there be a 17.5% chance? And since it tries separately for each commander and unit there’s 8 attempts so odds are in each fight madness will hit at least once right?
Hold up. How are you getting 52 initiative on full tank, no bonus with trolls on sauron? The total doesn't work like that? Can't just add them. Thought if the troop is slower than your commander, then you are effectively slower. Meaning 38/39 - slow trolls. Because i've looked at replays in this sort of case, and i swear it doesnt work like that
Very very good video, but I think for 90% of the people you face (if you are a whale Sauron with around 60 Initiative) it will be more then enough to steal white council. And if you don’t, it’s not like Sauron is useless. He still has his r5 debuff and r1 buff which are insane for a support
so you take it for granted that you will only face players inferior to you, there will never be an equal or superior player. In terms of the same level of gear, Gtw is always faster than you. In addition to this, make this bet to have a 13% chance of stealing something from him, so even assuming that you are the most geared player on the server and no one can compete with you, you will still take advantage of what you invested for 1 time out of 10 on average. But at the same time 10 times out of 10 you will take double damage from each attack, and you will not protect your dps from damage as a Sauron tank. Mentioning the other skills then doesn't make any sense because you have them in both versions, so it's not correct to say "yes but you always have the controls and the R5", you also have them in the tank version, but against Beorn in the tank version you have the possibility ( Exactly the same as stealing the much loved toilet) and having it detonate for 50K damage XD I think I was super clear in the video, if not in words at least with the tables xd
@@ombrartw yeah overall I think you are absolutely right and it’s important that Sauron survives so the damage dealers can do their damage. It’s just hard to accept this when you have spent like 5000€ to get Sauron zenith 5 with 61 agility 🥲 but you are right, tank definitely makes more sense, I will have to change it to keep competing at really high level
@@ombrartw also I must say I’m at the same time starting to like the idea of Sauron as a tank because that means you don’t need Frodo or another one as a tank in the team
@@ombrartw that’s true, will take me some time to get him change to tank but it will be very good I think. I’m also running my witch king full unit damage gear with 800 command. Should be pretty tanky too and then DD full focus saruman and Skalhelm
@@Mario.II. I think is better go for falgin just couse you have the unique of them, that is super op, but remember to use swan/GreatBeast or at least Mountain Troll on them
i'm sorry for you bro, agility sauron is not so bad, but in my opinion is inferior then tank sauron . Is still a good way for have a 10% chanche to win the fight :)
