Probably because the sherm only shoots if he's technically on screen. Even if it's 90 kilometers away, the sherm will still try to shoot mario if the sherm is on screen. Just imagine you're in luncheon kingdom, you turn the camera and the tank in wooded kingdom gives you a life-up heart
It's cause in this run, even one coin can ruin the run, but in the "losing a coin every second" run, he needs a BUNCH of coins to stay alive. So it only feels like there are a lot more coins, cause a lot less coins are necessary to fill a requirement.

About the cheese coin: I did some experimenting with a coinless run, and apparently the first 4 cheese you break (no matter which one it is) won't give you a coin, and then the 5th one is a guaranteed coin. After that it randomizes between every 2 and 4 cheese broken.

I believe that one coin in night metro came from an offscreen tank shooting another enemy. I’ve had that happen a lot with those tanks, so you’re not alone.
Yesterday I watched him do the run where he lost 1.5 coins every second and if he ran out of coins he died. And now I watch him avoiding all those coins that saved his life
This reminds me of the GDQ skit where the kid did a Mirrors Edge Glitchless run while doing glitches and saying they're not glitches, they're hidden game mechanics
@@aleph6707 Yup. The game is full of different kind of glitches that you can easily do without even realizing it. It's almost, if not impossible to do a *true* glitchless run without breaking the game or mechanics in one way or another.
I’m an idiot, for the longest time I thought he completely reset the run every failed attempt. It makes no logical sense why he would do that but I thought it anyways
necro post.. but he does do no save speedruns too, in those he would have to fully restart.. but this wasnt a no save run... with all the random coins out of nowhere this would be next to impossible to do with no coins lol
This should absolutely become its own category. I feel like a lot of cool skips and tricks could be made to make this run great, and it would require so much effort to perfect. I don’t speed run but it’s a speed run I would watch 👍🏻
Still waiting for the Super Mario Odyssey challenge where he does all his old challenges combined just to show everyone that he's the best at playing smo incorrectly. So basically smo with no damage, no cap throws, no coins, no jumping, no saves, blindfolded, no audio, using chopsticks, with the TV unplugged without turning on the game
@@ComfyChameleon he jumped a lot in capture mode, like with the frog. its still a jump even if the jump counter is just bugged. as proof: talking to an NPC counts as jump even if you arent jumping. or you wanne say jumping as a frog is not a jump? xD
