I was ready to mock this, thinking by looking at the thumbnail that it was just kinda overpriced, and unnecessary. I have to say, they did a fantastic job with it. It looks really well designed, and functional, and well integrated into the truck itself. It probably is not cheap, but if you bought a cyber truck, you are probably not as worried about the cost. Very nice video.
I think there are some definite criticisms to be had for sure but this being a V1 product it’s actually insane. I think by V2 it could be a solid contender against some of the other overlanding systems. In regards to price I think it’s a tad more expensive than it should be but I have to admit having them install everything is a major added value.
Interesting. This is the first video I have seen where people give this glowing positive reviews. Most give it a mixed rating and seem to struggle more with the setup than you. As I watched you do it I thought that didn’t really look all that bad. It might be a little overpriced but I know tha air beam style tents that are of decent size can get expensive and to have it always there and ready to go is appealing.
Hey! Thanks for watching :) The reason why it was easy for me is that I practiced setting it up before filming. My first attempt took me like 40 minutes and it was kind of awkward haha. I obviously wanted the video to look great so def had some time to think through the execution. The tent is definitely a tad more expensive than I’d like but don’t forget the price includes installation. Also I’d like to point out that my video is a lot newer than the earlier videos meaning that they didn’t have the Tonneau cover retrofit pieces yet. If you watch the older videos you’ll see that’s what took the longest and it was their biggest complaint. The new quick release system is a game changer! Lastly I’m excited about what could be in future upgrades. This is a super solid V1, but V2 can only get better!
I really want to love this, especially since it’s the only thing I can use my PowerShare credit on, but I dunno. Seems like a lot of overhead versus throwing a nice tent in the bed, along with a folding cot or pad, etc. Also, you’ve got A/C power right there, why not include a little electric pump? For bonus points, it would have been cool (pun intended) to somehow get HVAC back there. It SOC wasn’t an issue, burning 10kWh (or whatever) to be able to sleep in absolute comfort would be the strongest argument for this, IMHO.
Your criticisms are well thought out and very personal. My recommendation for you is to wait. I personally love the tent for me, but who knows maybe they’ll release a new set of new accessories that speak to you. The best part of the voucher is that time in on your side. You don’t have to make immediate decisions. I will say this though… the cybertent is an incredible V1. I don’t think it’s perfect by any means but I’m so incredibly happy that I’m camping again and for me that’s enough. Wait and see. Take your time. When you’re ready to use your voucher you can. Thanks for watching :)
Should put it in tent mode first before even getting out of the truck. Tonneaux will open automatically and it will be level by the time you get in to set it up which makes that whole process easier. Can’t wait for v2 though with integrated pump that just plugs into the outlet and inside lights and usb ports. Thicker inflatable bed foam too.
Next improvement really needs to be to connect directly to the truck in the app via blue tooth instead of cellular because often remote camping lacks cellular access in which case the app won’t work.
@@darylfortney8081 oh i actually didn’t realize that’s how it was connecting but it makes sense. I had to keep setting the app to tent mode and was wondering why
@@LAV8TV yeah they could allow direct to vehicle control over either bluetooth or wifi with a simple app and firmware update if they wanted and i think it would be a great feature especially for camping. Could even allow you to turn off the cellular radio in the car to save more energy and for more security.. there are a lot of places you can't use the app from.
Thank you so much for your support and great question! The tent setup on the first go will take you probably around 40 minutes even if you’re experienced in this type of thing. It isn’t hard whatsoever but as you can tell from my video there are a lot of steps and you need to figure it out. That being said once you’ve done a full run through I’m certain you could knock it down to 15-20 minutes. It takes me roughly 15 minutes now that I’ve done it a few times.
It’s a lot of fun! Just like any V1 product it has places where it could improve for sure, but I think Tesla nailed their first attempt. Really looking forward to the evolution of camping with this truck
I have the spare tire in my CT bed. Was thinking of using my voucher for the tent, do you think the tent would fit over it so I can have both things installed?
Haha valid. I’m just really excited about it. I LOVE being outside and even though there are a lot of steps I still feel like it’s still simple. I appreciate your POV. Thanks for watching :)
Just curious, why does an electric vehicle with electric outlets right at the point where the inflation nozzle goes, not supply an electric air pump? Must be an engineering reason for that, can't just be that they're are being cheap, surely?
I think that they’re trying to package this feature with the tire pump that’s coming out later this year. If you go to the shop you can see that the tire pump is now listed, but it isn’t available yet
@@LAV8TV amazing video making tough. And a good tutorial for people who need it. Hope i didn’t sound rude, its a thought i had. By the way many people are set againts cybertruck for some reason but after wantching a few videos, including yours, i think its something very cool. The only thing i don’t get is why they didn’t include electric pump with the tent, you even have the plug in the bed of the truck. You can buy an 80$ inflatable matress for a car off of amazon and it does include an electric pump
Disappointing. I thought this was some new aftermarket tent that was supposed to look like what was originally promised. That tent is way over priced for what it actually is.
@@SandTiger42 i agree it’s overpriced but I don’t think by much. The fact that they package installation with the purchase is a pretty solid added value. Also I used my Cybertruck voucher which knocked the price down to like $600. Overall I think this is an incredible V1 product and excited about the future
@@SandTiger42 thank you 🙏 I’m obviously looking forward to future versions of the tent as well as what third parties might develop. Overall I’m just so insanely stoked to be camping again :)
@@Gallardo6669 Thabks for watching. Actually it isn’t a permanent install and relatively simple to remove. Takes roughly 10 min to setup and 10 min to remove from the truck. On top of that it only weighs 90lbs
