Went with sonnetteach in the end. Was easily available on Amazon. Plus the m2 slot was the selling point. Considering it’s doing all the stuff connected to the single thunderbolt port to the Mac, the speed of around 700mb/s is really good. You can’t squeeze more from that poor port which is also supplying the monitor

hello. Do you know the quality or bandwith of RCA output? Which chip is used for the DAC for RCA output?

Finally got my hands on a set, i like that it supports more than one monitor on the mac studio m2 max. one thing I don't like about it is that when my mac go to sleep mode, the built-in nvme drive and other external drive i connect to it becomes disconnected, but the mouse antenna still works.

Thats very odd! I didn't have an issue with the m.2 disconnecting unless I physically disconnected the thunderbolt cable.

@@ChrisWilmshurst do you think I'm doing anything wrong? because the external harddrive got disconnected too, light's on the echo 20 went off, but the mouse's still working.

@heyjjaysonn check in your battery settings that there isn’t something like ‘put hard drives to sleep’ or something along those lines when putting your Mac to sleep

@@ChrisWilmshurst hey thanks! it worked after I uncheck "Put hard disks to sleep when possible", and checked "Prevent automatic sleeping when display is off" as well.

I heard a number of complaints about the TS4 ejecting external drives while there MacBook pros go to sleep. Does this dock do that as well? Is it just a simple battery option on the Mac that needs to be changed? I’m also trying to decide between the two drives. Which one do you like better? Thanks.

My TB4 doesn't eject drives unless I remove the Thunderbolt cable or the drives manually. It may be a 'put hard drives to sleep' setting you need to adjust in settings on Mac OS.

It’s been known to have a lot of Issues with the protocol. A quick google search will bring up a lot of results.

Will I still have to download the displaylink driver for usage of 2 external monitor on an m2 max mac studio?

No you shouldn’t need to. It uses hdmi and your m2 max has hdmi too. Or alternatively use hdmi from the dock and a usb c to hdmi.

I intend to connect both LG monitor through the dock. and because from what i see, all the other docks are not supported on an m series mac, so displaylink driver is required for it to work. If I'm using USB C to HDMI for both monitor connecting through the dock, not utilising the HDMI port on the mac studio, can I just confirm that no displaylink driver is needed? just want to make sure I don't miss out any info.

Who told you that you couldn't support dual monitors on M series Mac's? Only the m1 and m2 base chips (not the max/ultra/pro) can only run one monitor. you'll be completely fine with an m2 max Mac Studio. @@heyjjaysonn
