I feel like Valk is probably one of the best heroes for beginners to pick up, since it teaches how to do something very important, how to adapt to your opponents playstyle, something that I fell most ppl in the FH community could really benefit from learning.
Yes I started the game this year and 0layer warmonger. But I didn't quit grasp hownto be adaptable and switched to this cause I found it fun to use when doing the parry tutorial she really helped me learn thegame better
You forgot an important thing. valkyrie has dodge guardbreaks, this combined with her superior dodgeblock means instead of doing the Shoulder pin you can acually get a guaranteed guardbreak when you deflect
@@Kharis- The bleed stacks. I tried it in training. The deflect into gb is only better if you want to ledge since it consumes more stamina than a regular shoulder pin.
@@Kharis- you can indeed get a wallsplat and heavy but the distance and spacing isn’t very forgiving for it, you can’t be right next to the wall you gotta have a bit of space to confirm the heavy otherwise it can be blocked and sometimes even parried if you’re like right next to the wall
If you think valk has a lot of mixup potential now, you should've seen pre year 1 rework. Yeah the ground stab wasn't guaranteed but her attack chain was so much more fluid, and potentially infinite depending on stamina. Still use valk but her kit is def less aggressive than before
I agree on pre-Valk rework. She was better before the rework. Her full guard charge up was really useful for knocking down opponents. I'd give up the guaranteed heavy after the sweep to get the full charge guard KD back.
So to add to this, the anytime Valkyrie lands a shoulder pin, she gets a free chained top light as long as their guard wasn’t already there before the shoulder pin or if it’s against an assassin. Also, Valkyrie gets a gb on deflect like zerk does. And lastly, her best oos punish is side throw heavy top light sweep
Wow man, incredible. A friend of mine recently started playing, and he really loves Valk, i linked him this video to help him out. Tysm, awesome video, and i did not know you could GB after blocking a heavy in all block 🤯👍
Very insightful. Learning to master the Valk and needed more in depth knowledge of her kit for better openers. I play defensively and rely on that app block and superior block + sweep. Thanks for this!
You improved my game so much I didn't realize you got a guardbreak with the full block and I made it to rep 7 without knowing you can start the chain with a bash
This is a really good series. Thanks for your effort. I just stumbled across your channel and I gotta say that it is criminally underrated in my opinion. In the context of this series would you mind making a guide for things like how to deflect and what the heck a softfaint is supposed to be. I hear these terms a lot but frankly have no clue what they are supposed to mean as I just picked up the game a week ago.
I'm a new player and I have some interest in playing Tiandi. I've seen through your other Academy videos that you're really good with him and I was hoping you had plans to do a guide for him next.
Two more things about the deflect that I noticed weren’t in the video 1. Deflecting any attack guarantees a guardbreak, like Zerk, at least as far as I’ve experienced 2. Shoulder pinning a side heavy on any character with a static guard guarantees a chain top light. It won’t work on a top heavy shoulder pin. Shoulder pinning any heavy from a character with a reflex guard guarantees a chain top light, regardless of the direction of the heavy
I just stumbled upon your channel, I've got 2 reps on Valk and I love her kit. This is the best damned guide I've ever watched on any hero. Keep it up! You've earned my Sub
She’s one of the last unique characters imo. I just started playing her. I used to hate her back then when her combos felt op😭😭. Grew to love her in the last year tho cause she feels unique & fun to play. Just outdated sadly but I don’t think she needs any real big buffs.
If you deflect a side attack, the follow up top light is guaranteed as they can't switch guard fast enough, top deflects aren't guaranteed as long as they keep their guard top. This increases her deflect damage to 33 total including bleed.
I feel like valk should get her headbutt back when she gets a gb. (Edit) I mean she used to have the ability to do a headbutt when she got a gb with different charges | 1-2-3| and each would take more stam then the last but im pretty sure most of them weren't guaranteed.
I still dont get how to do it, so you have to cancel the bash after blocking the Heavy with All guard? Or do you have to hit the bash? I tried So many times, as fast as possible, but the ki in Training Mode always Breaks the GB
Undodgeable heavy finisher, enhanced lights maybe. Lower the stamina cost of her soft feint into bash since it takes a lot and is her main/only mixup/opener
It’s the “bash” is done by pressing guard break on the start up to a heavy attack. “Start up”refers to the opening animation of any move, and in terms of a heavy attack it’s the window in which you can cancel a heavy attack and/or soft feint it. So as soon as you press heavy attack if you press the gb button she’ll do a shield bash
Deflect does more damage, But I do crushing counters more often since it also counters feints into guard break where as a gb would catch a deflect. But people can also read a crushing counter and feint into neutral and parry, so it’s all just an elaborate mind game tbh
They got rid of her heavy feint into bash, it’s now a heavy feint into all block which can go into a bash. The bash from all block is now 100ms faster and the follow up does like 20 damage. Her sweep is faster now as well, and that’s about it. She has had some other minor adjustments like better trajectories on heavies, better guardbreak range, etc. Her zone is really fast now as well, and is cancelable into all block and barely uses any stamina so make use of that in team fights and duels. Other than that she is still similar play style
@@tristanlambert658 yeah okay. I've seen pro and noob plays and been only on the receiving ends since I don't play Knights. But nothing about BP full block stance is considered skill. And in this video it shows it. You literally have to do a bunch of other stuff to even make vak FBS to be viable in a fight. It's not just one click and get a free heavy hit or that it's quick enough to always get out of a tough situation. Plus that's not skill, that's predicting the opponent, something you have to do
The Bostanator if you don’t play BP then don’t talk like you know him, going for a downblock counter is very risky and it’s a small window, if you go early or overshoot it you will be guardbroken. For characters that can feint their unblockables BP has to make a read or not even bother at all. Now obviously someone well experienced with the character will be better with the mechanic, but it’s not as safe and easy as you think. And if you wanna say that’s not skill and that it’s predicting the opponent then I say what’s the difference? The point of the CCU was to remove skill based gameplay and promote guessing games. Making a successful read is now what skill is in FH
@@tristanlambert658 I see you trying to defend BP but not conq. I can only assume you main the shit out of BP to be defending him so hard. Like I said, I've seen pro and noob plays over BP so I know how to counter him. So just because I don't play the noob heavy hero, doesn't mean I don't understand how he works. Compared to everyone else with FBS, conq and BP are (to me) top 3 easy heroes with FBS. And you aren't going to change my mind BP mainer. Nothing says easy than a predicting BP that counters every hit and counters multiple people. I'd like to see a vak easy best 2 to 4 players that easily. Or to make players think on how to gank her properly. He literally has multiple actions in his FBS, he can mix up. Vak can only charge or just cance. Basic shit that everyone can counter against. This video actually shows a skill to implement in her game play. 1v1 I'm sure he has difficulty. Cause like raider top light, I bet everyone is just waiting for that BP to mess up his easy counter attack.
The Bostanator you assume wrong, I grinded BP on his release week to rep 8 and since then I’ve only gotten him to rep 10 overall. That said, that is enough experience with the character to know that the bulwark counter isn’t as easy as you perceive it. When you see videos of pros or noobs doing it you’re only seeing that footage because it was intentionally captured due to the success within it. Again I’m not saying you have to be a god to use BP, just that considering it’s a mechanic based on timing and reads, it requires more skill than Conq who you also mentioned. Conq literally just sees red and downblocks, BP has to actually know what move in particular is coming at him to react accordingly. You seem to think I’m comparing BP to Valk but I never suggested that, I know BP is a better character than her, I was just saying I think you have BP as easier to play than he is in your head.
Just a question why don't you ever throw top heavies on light parries or guard breaks? Because last time I checked valks top heavy s are guaranteed on guardbreaks
Sometimes it does, with some heroes they can continue their chains if you go for a gb, I’m not sure which attacks exactly can continue. Might have to test that out
I don’t know if you’re still replying to these, but how do you punish Valkyrie? She has very low gb vulnerability on her sweep so I always find people counter guard breaking me even when I input the dodge and guard break on prediction. Hope that makes sense.
If you’re talking about her deflect, you have to dodge into an attack just as it’s about to hit you, so you have to wait until the last possible second, it will make a loud clank sound letting you know it landed then immediately press heavy attack to do the shoulder pin
WAIT WHAT THAT SWEEP IS A SPECIFIC INPUT. How come whenever I guard break the sweep comes out then? Like ik my stick is in neutral yet she still does the sweep
Also another question. So does I have been noticing that everyone just dodges whenever I start my string. I try to heavy but it seems like people jus kinda block it mid dash. Is there a way to deal with that?
Feint into gb more often, and if they dodge attack feint into neutral to parry. If you really want to up your game then you have to watch their guard as you’re in your chain to see where their guard is when they dodge to know which direction to throw the heavy from. You also need to know if the character has a superior dodge where their guard automatically switches to the direction they dodge in.
Also I was incorrect, you don’t have to hold down on the stick anymore, that was the original input back in the day but it’s changed since then, just pressing guaedbreak does the trick
like he said takes skill to use well but if u can figure out how to use her and when to use your full guard she can be crazy, yes he does say it takes a little more to do the same amount of damage but really gets a lot of players stuck in a loop when they can't stop the light, light and stun side attack it gets super hard to really tell which way your going
@@LokiOakenshield yuh I realised where to find combos and I know how to mix stuff up now and HOLLY SH*T VALK IS GOD TEIR I’m also being told to play zerk would you recommend him?
Eh after playing with her for a while I decided she's not worth mastering. Everybody can read her once you've left the noob stage and go to intermediate. Too punishable and can't land most her shit. She was a threat in the beginning but holy fuck is it hard to get a kill with her. Thank you very much for the guide kind sir but this hero is not for me
