If you visit Ketchikan do not buy food from our grocery stores (2). They have hard enough time keeping stock.... Where are you taking that food any way? You have a kitchen in your room?! Also, use a crosswalk.

I was stationed on Annette island back in the early 2000s to build a 16 mile road from the little fishing village to the other end of the island. I was in the navy.I like Ketchikan it’s full of culture and history. I wonder what ever happened to our base camp? Did they turn it into a fishing village for tourists?is steamers stop their it’s on the second level of one of the buildings on the water?

This is a nice video but sadly it glosses over the Lingit History who used this area as a summer fish camp for eons. The Lingit called it Kichx’aan (Kitschk-an). There’s Totem Bight Park that has a Tribal house (briefly on screen) or visit Saxman just a few minutes from downtown for more Totem poles and tour the carving center. The Museum also downtown is a must and the fish hatchery are what I’d do versus some of the tourist traps.

Don't leave out Snorkel Alaska! Great for those who want to get hands-on with sea life and do something a little unusual. 7 mm wet suits with boots, hood, and gloves keep you quite comfortable despite cold Alaskan waters. I went in late May and enjoyed it very much even though not a swimmer.

What you should also tell your viewers if anybody watches this, and I have watched other of your videos, which are wonderful, if you want to be truthful, look further into it before you advertise it or post videos again such as there are more places to go then just The quarter-mile within Ketchikan up to the mountain base that goes nearly directly up. North south yes. Beautiful scenery beautiful places. Yes, 95% most likely of the people that are on cruise ships visit only the shops which are bullshit tourist cruise ship set shops and they rob the goal community the local people of their businesses. It’s like taking a small town That has such beauty and natural resources but development and adding a cruise ship and adding a Walmart to it. It shuts everything else down. It robs the community of its culture of its gross and it brings in crap product from China from Russia from overseas from Mexico, the majority of the crap that is sold in Ketchikan by the cruise ships are from the same cruise ship stops that are in the Caribbean. Get to know your information. Do your background check if you have a question, call me I’ve lived and worked on cruise ships on private boats in private states in the Caribbean in Florida in California in Alaska in Chicago in New York in the Midwest in the great lakes. It’s the same crap. If you want to get to know the community and the culture, get off the crew ship leave it and extend your vacation by renting a car or hiking or walking or renting a cabin. Get to know the land get to know somebody go to a hardware store that is just outside of town not a Walmart not a tourist spot, but a place that you can actually go by a snick bar, a six pack of beer and a bouquet of flowers for your significant other take your children to breakfast to a joint. That’s not gonna cost you 50 bucks by the cruise ship stop but rather 25 with a tip. Enjoy the life of the beautiful people of Ketchikan not the cruise ship industry. The cruise ship industry may have brought much money, but it’s also destroying Ketchikan. Your product before you sell this video don’t insult people.

Nice video great commentary. Nice story I agree with most of it however, you are wrong that there are only two ways into Ketchikan through Alaskan Airways, and Delta as well CT. It’s incorrect. There are multiple ways. Do your research before you do your next video and maybe consider making a correction on this fall statement. No offense, sir, it looks beautiful but if you’re gonna report something to be true, look it up and get your fax. Don’t be Donald Trump. Tell the truth do your research if not, ask me and I’ll send you the information I lived and worked there. I worked as a chef and a mate on a private ship, and I also traveled throughout the mountains. There are many ways to get to Ketchikan. Don’t cut the people in the local town short and only advertise big Corra. Shame on you for doing that. Don’t forget to include the people that live there that actually bring people in from long distances without having to go through SeaTac or Delta or Alaska Airlines. Please. Do your research. Then, continue to advertise. It’s beautiful. I suggest strongly to people to look into catch as it is incredible. After October, when the cruise ships leave, the town shuts down and it is desolate and very difficult to make an income. The people of Ketchikan are beautiful.

Sorry, but SEA is the only way (by plane) to get to KTN from the mainland. * We also mention the AK ferry system - but realistically, few tourists will use that. If you have discovered another way to fly into KTN from the mainland, please let us and our viewers know….
