Wild Weasel it weighs about 1000 lbs 5’x10’x1/2” Depending on who your welding supplier is and how much you buy from them .... a 1000 lbs sheet cost you between $500 and $1000
I like your tray underneath idea. I’m going to add that to my 30” x 30” certiflat table I have yet to weld together and the expanded sheet metal bottom too. Mine will go on the heavy duty swivel locking wheels from certiflat so I can roll it around my small garage. thanks for the ideas!
Congrats. Hope you love yours as much as I do mine. Now I have to go cut my clamp holder and move it in 5 inches so they don’t stick out because your idea is better than mine
Very nice setup! I love the debris trays - I was just trying to figure out how to address the same issue on my table, and I think your solution will work well for me 😄👍
Great table very useful and convenient... with so many holes I think a sort of a vacuum system under the table would be nice to suck and gather all the fumes from the welding or any debri produced by the grinders... Looking forward for the first video with the new table....
Al Bundy I was thinking the same thing. Down draft like a paint booth. I ran into an old man today at my local welding store. He had his nose chuck full of gauze. He told me years of welding smoke messed up his nose and was told he could no longer weld. It gets me thinking about a very useful downdraft system.
Just think of all the past projects that would have been so much easier to do if you had a table that big back then. You could capture all the weld slag and grinding dust if you had added some bent (peaked) light gauge metal between the legs to cover the gaps between the trays and deflect the debris to the trays.
If you take some 3x3 angle iron upside down and weld them in the spaces where the legs are, the dust and debris will fall into those amazing trays you built....just a thought.
Found your channel just this morning and you have saved me probably $5,000 already I can't wait to learn more! I was looking at a fab table that started it $7,000 thanks for your content.
love the idea of the trays to collect slag. you say 98% collected. i was thinking if you add 2X2 or 3X3 angle in an upside down V in between the legs it could angle the slag that falls in those areas to fall off into the trays. Just a thought. Maybe I'm over thinking things though?
3/8"? Seems a little thin for such a large table. I'm guessing the "machined perfectly flat top" won't stay that way after a few years. Does it come in 1"?
Awesome table sir . Without having to search through the website what does one of those monsters cost ? Just a suggestion for your debris trays sir maybe some lengths of 1/8 th by 4X4 angle iron on a 45 to make a ramp to divert the debris into either side trays tack welded to the crossbar would help with the gaps between the trays maybe ? Great job with the upgrades picked up some good ideas for my shop table to 😎
Thanks for watching Charlie, I'm not sure of the retail cost, And i'm not sure if there on there website yet, You may have to call for pricing. I thought about your idea, But i have a clearance problem with the fixture clamps as they extend 8'' down in the table. Thanks for your advise though! Jimbo!
For the dust collection.... is there room / can you add some upside down angle between the catch trays to deflect the dust and slag into each tray so you don’t have gaps between the trays? Either way I think I’ll be adding those trays to my tables. Thanks
5X10 wow I'm just a beginner I just retired and watching you tube to teach myself to weld. I'm building a cart for my welder I took two pieces of 1/8 flat stock and welded them together to make a place for the welder to sit. How can I weld them together without them warping and my table isn't perfectly flat?
So was this a special order? I don't see 5x10' tables on their website. Awesome, though my dude. edit: Not that my lame ass could use it. Or afford it. But covet? Oh, yes, yes I can!
Your table looks nice and you did a excellent job setting it up. But I have a concern about the electrical outlets on the table. I was told by a tech engineer from Miller Electric that your electrical boxes and ground cables from other machines should be isolated from your welding table when doing any welding that requires the AC high frequency because the high frequency can burn up circuit boards in your other welders by back feeding through the ground cable and that it can travel through electrical wires damaging any sensitive equipment that is plug into your electrical outlets. The shop I worked at had the circuit board fried in our mig machine because the ground cable was still hooked up to the welding table while our tig machine was being used to weld aluminum on that same table .
Good afternoon! I'm from Russia. You have a very cool RU-vid channel, it's a pity that there are no subtitles with translation. It is very difficult to learn something new from you without knowing English. If there is such an opportunity to add subtitles with translation, I would be doubly grateful to you.
Great new tool to the shop Jimbo...it looks like it will last you years..5X10 is the way to go for this table, if you got 4X8 you would be kicking yourself this time next year...All the best man
The old welding table could go. Maybe cut it in half? You'd use the other counter tops more. The new table is big enough where you don't need much extra.
Bitchen table. I like your debris tray that's a smart idea I'll use on my weld tables I'm starting to build. I'm using some scrap pieces that got cut off some pallet racks as my frame. I might go with 3 of there 3ft x 4ft tops they offer which will give me a 9ft x 4ft top.
Herse a different version that is not used for storage. 5x10x 1/2" thick that expand to 8' x 16' the 5' center rotates and it lowers and raise from 24' to 69". ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-4kkmUexC5Og.html
would you just look at that big wide grin on your face jimbo, and you deserve every bit of that table ,really chuffed for you ,only one thing missing and with heavier stock you can bring in ,sorry to keep going on about it ,overhead crane jimbo so you can wheel stock in ,make your own ,good project for us to see.............all the best ...................................dougie
I love your swing out stool, but I'm curious if it's uncomfortable at all because the support getting in the way of the your legs when you sit on it. I had an idea to extend the seat out and put it at the end of an "L" instead of a straight line. The other idea I had was to come up with a lock for it, so you can lock it away or lock it out, with a pin or something, so it doesn't swing when you don't want it to.
Hey Jimbo, nice set-up. After watching your video where you were talking about your debris trays, how about welding a piece of inverted angle iron between each set of legs to cover your gaps? Shop looks great.
Nice table Jim and I like your mod's. It should be a great addition to the shop and will help you get work out quickly. I'm betting you wish you had 6' of width though.
Did you add the bolts in the base plates of the legs or were they part of the kit? Just wondering if the plate is threaded or if there is a captive nut welded to the inside? I did a captive nut but used a nut on the bottom as well to relieve the pressure on the weld of the captive nut.
Love that table but specially ur garage. Been enjoying ur videos since I started following you. Still need to watch tons of your videos, trying to see a few per day.
