I grew up a block from the Pico Rivera plant. You never saw a person in uniform until one night hummers and APCs blocked the two main roads and pointed guns at everyone at the intersection. It was like 1am and some military guy told everyone to turn off their cars. Then about 20 plain marked cargo trucks left the plant, going in every direction. This was before anyone had cell phone cameras, but the military made sure no one followed or took pictures. About 10 minutes of shutting down the roads, everyone disappeared like nothing happened. We found out later that the B2 prototype was being assembled and the cockpit was what they were moving that night and soon after the plant was shutdown and leveled.

FUN FACT: in 2008 one of these crashed while taking off , it crashed because it got left in the rain the day before and got moisture on the computers. When taking off the instruments thought the aircraft was going faster than it actually was and it stalled. Both pilots lived. But the air force lost 2 billion $ in about 17 seconds.

I actually have a couple thoughts. Every time I see images of a B-2, my first thought is "that thing looks like a UFO". Even knowing perfectly well what it is. People that saw these things before they became public knowledge probably felt the same way. Remember those UFO videos the government released recently? I suspect in thirty years people are going to laugh at all the folks that reacted with "holy shit, space ship!1!!", because they'll know exactly what they are.

I worked at the World Financial Bldg (on the Hudson River across from the WTC) in the 1990's. During Memorial Day week the Navy fleet comes up the Hudson for Fleet Week. Being on the 33rd floor with an unobstructed view of the Hudson River, I saw many Naval ships come up the river with the crew lined up on the deck in their Navy blues. The Speed check thing where they did 2,000 mph wasn't a stealth Bomber. It was an SR-71 Blackbird. It had some level of Stealth for his time, but wasn't really a stealth plan. It also was designed for spying from above the level of most anti aircraft missiles. It had no combat ability short of being to fast to be attack. A stealth Bomber is a Bomber. It is a good bit slower and it's Stealth abilities not it's speed keep it safe. Clearly not the same plans as each other. You should do a video on the SR-71 Blackbird.

Two secrets people don't generally talk about: 1) the wing edges are electrostatically charged, apparently giving it a bit of anti-gravity propulsion to induce lift. Ionized air from the wing edges and exhaust give it a small amount of "float" compared to other jets, and 2) it has the ability to project a fake radar signature away from it's actual location. If that was not enough, the US uses drones to do the same thing. While the enemy is taking down a $2 million drone that mimics a B-2, F-22, etc. the real jets are blowing everything sky high at another location. That is why so many countries claim to shoot down stealth jets and they are just hitting the projections or drone simulations.

Was there when 9/11 happened and watched the first 2 B-2s take off in the middle of the night to go bomb Afghanistan which was at the time the longest sortie in history. I was stationed at Whiteman, AFB (509 SFS) the home of the B-2 and the weirdest thing about working with that plane was that they only did full power engine tests in the early hours of the morning. I'd wake up in a vibrating 4 story brick dormitory (Challenger) that's about 1/4 mile away from the hangers at 0230 and I have to be at the squadron at 0400 for a 14 hour work day. On a positive note it was always hilarious to watch someone walk behind a bomber doing an engine run and then get picked up off the ground and flew 50ft into a fence :D

Fun facts: It is widely agreed that the First Nation ever to use Aviation as a Military Asset was Italy, with the Italian Army’s Air Arm being formed in 1884. This used Hot Air Balloons for military reconnaissance and planning. The First Ever use of heavier-than-air aircraft in armed conflict occurred n 1911, when experimental reconnaissance and bombing sorties took place during the Italo-Turkish War by the Servizio Aeronautico (Aeronautical Service). The name of the Italian Air Force (as used today) came into being as an independent service by King Vittorio Emanuele III of the Kingdom of Italy, on On 28 March 1923. Known as the Regia Aeronautica (literally, Royal-Air-Force). During the 1930s, the fledgling Regia Aeronautica was involved in its first military operations, over Ethiopia in 1935. Crazy to think, but Italian Generals who were thinking WAY ahead of their time, thought that if ordnance (bombs) was dropped from the sky, the sheer psychological effect on the tribal Ethiopian villages which Italy ruled, would be more powerful than the bombs themselves, since terrified Tribal Villagers back then had never seen ‘men ‘flying’ in magical wooden boxes which spat out fire”, as some Tribal Elders allegedly said. The M.O basically consisted of a soldier in the rear seat, having a wooden crate full of ‘bombs. When over the target, he would simply reach for them, pull out a detonating pin, essentially, then lean out over the edge of the plane, look down to ‘aim’, and then manually drop the bombs. It worked, sewing the very early seeds about the vital importance of Air Dominance/Superiority, very possibly before any other nation.

Can replace metal structural parts. FIberglass for being waterproof and electrically insulated. Yet will shatter easily under blunt force. Kevlar being energy absorbent and crack/fracture resistant. Replaces heavy materials like titanium with similar capabilities but i tiny fraction of the weight. Recently these technologies became DIY ready. Anyone can buy the fabric weaves and epoxy types and produce things that a decade ago was accessible only to major automotive and military contractors.

A bit of a back story.....the Northrop-Grumman B-2 Spirit is based on a 1940's flying wing design created by Jack Northrop, an aviation pioneer who founded Northrop Corp. In 1952, devastated by the Air Force's decision to cancel the new bomber, he abruptly retired as chief executive of the company and sold his holdings in the firm. ( It's been said that Northrup resisted a forced merger with Convair and in retaliation the Secretary of the Air Force cancelled the flying wing program.) Then in 1981, just before his death, Jack Northrup was granted an extraordinary government security clearance in order to see the design for the B-2 Stealth bomber. Northrop Chairman Thomas V. Jones told shareholders in 1988 “I went to the Air Force and said, 'let this man know'; and God bless the Air Force they did.”

Around 1:00 “I think it was a stealth bomber”... no Sir, it was the SR71 Blackbird which was a spy plane/reconnaissance aircraft

As for what you thought the size of Nuclear missiles was, they come in different sizes. The ones carried and deployed by aircraft are very small compared to the giant nuclear missiles that fly themselves anywhere on the globe and destroy many square miles at once. It's like, Hey Bob, Do we want to destroy a small town or take out an entire City? Just a small town George, okay I'll fuel up the B-2, grab us some snacks and a bunch of bananas because it's going to be a long day and I don't feel like smelling your shit the entire flight!

Now they are saying the B2 will be in service till 2033 (30 yrs), yet the B52 has crews that were not even born when the aircraft first came on line. Fun fact about the B52 it can land off angle so the nose is not pointing down the runway but the landing gear is. Title of the video; Crabbing B-52 Bombers Landing in Strong Crosswinds To RAF Fairford,UK ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-9jNkMpNyS8I.html enjoy the mind trip.

That was funny! The MRE bit was a little off. The heater in the MRE, which is optional for food prep, won't explode. If you seal the bag with it and water, steam will build until it can release. At worst scolding you, I've had it happen. The only real danger, which is minimal even in an enclosed space, is the carbon monoxide released by the heater during the water initiated endothermic chemical reaction. However, even this is a minimal amount compared to the oxygen system onboard. I really like your videos and take on just about everything! Keep it up!

If it weren't for NASA, the world would definitely be different. Here are just a few. The list of all things is extremely long. Scratch-resistant lenses. Ear thermometers. Shoe insoles. Invisible braces for teeth. Cordless tools. Tap water filters Satellite navigation Memory foam. Cochlear implants LASIK (used for eye surgery) aircraft anti icing tech improved radial tires enriched baby formula

How much NASA benefited industry & consumers is always debatable. But there is no doubt it was a 'money-making' exercise. I saw that just infra-red mapping of the oceans increased fishing so much, that alone paid for going to the moon.

The B2 bomber is Waaaaay different from the SR71 ( Blackbird ). The SR71 had NO WEAPONS at all. Its "weapon" was speed. Its MISSION was super high-tech cameras riding in an aircraft that could move at mach 3 AT EASE ... at altitudes surpassing 90,000 ft ! Pictures/videos taken could read a car's license plate ! Also, the SR71 was NOT "stealth" like the B2 is. View Brian Shul's 1-hour video titled, "From Butterflies to Blackbirds" ! YOU WON'T REGRET THE TIME SPENT ! CHEERS !

During the mid 90s to early 2000s there were reports of a massive triangular shaped UFOs flying around at night in the deserts that made nearly no sound. Yet another aircraft reasonable for many UFO sightings.

If you think the B-2 Spirit is insane check out the F-22 Raptor. We sell the F-35 because we NEVER even considered selling the F-22. In a live combat simulation a single F-22 pilot once recorded over 100 eliminations of other "enemy" jets. It is the definition of air superiority. The scariest thing about the F-22 is that it is scheduled for retirement soon. Meaning something even more insane will be taking its place, and it isn't the F-35. The F-22 is an air-to-air menace. The F-35 is a joint strike (air and ground) jet.

The SR71 Blackbird could cruise AT EASE at speeds that SURPASS the speed of a bullet exiting a hunting rifle ( a 30.06 ). The B2 is much slower --- but uses STEALTH technology to baffle radars. The B2 can carry a MASSIVE amount of ordinance ---- whereas the SR71 had NO WEAPONS at all.

NASA was a money maker with the majority of innovations passing on to the consumer electronics and food market. So Dave wasn't wrong... Having said that, 10:1 is a hell of a return and I don't know if I'm gonna stick my neck out to validate that anally-originated statistic.
