Thank you for reminding me what my duty is .Pray for my daughter that she turn back to Jesus and the Church. The tears of this mother are indeed bitter and correcting my children even as adults is even harder .
I &ave the same heartbreak x3. I have 3 daughters that no longer go to church. One works on Sunday currently, another blames a priest in another city for not helping her when she needed it and lastly my youngest just turns away when I invite her. I will not give up on any of them. 🙏🏽
Due to my bad example none of my adult children follow the faith, I went back to it many years ago and this has helped me pray. I'm worried they'll be dismissive or laugh at me, thank you St Monica for your example. I pray constantly for my children to return.

Thank you, Father, for this talk. It helped me a great deal in my grief over my son's rejection of everything we had tried to teach him throughout his childhood. He has been in rebellion for 17 years and refuses to be in our lives now, even though he lives only 30 minutes away. There are many many parents going through this same thing. It is literally an epidemic in our country as young people have accepted the lies of the world.

A lot of the work in the Catholic Church is done on one's knees in prayer not at Committee meetings in deciding how much power one can exercise in the Church. Prayer has power. Try it.
Many mothers have many methods to correct our sons. But with Gods help, guidance and support to help us, nothing is impossible and no method is incorrect. I do believe, "living as an example" of God's love, is the best of all. But with a rebellious son, like St. Augustine, haha!....St. Monica was right. Moreover, St. Monica was a holy woman. Being a holy woman, she couldnt handle "evil" practises, or heresies, from Manichism at home with her from St. Augustine. So, she "had" to kick him out. But, Love "bears all things, endures all things." This is not easy. Kicking St. Augustine out, threw him into the hands of others, not godly, most likely. But the loss of her love, must have been devastating. St. Monica's prayers, her incessant tears, her faith, her rectitude in God's perfect plan, was and is an example. Thank you Brother Vincent!

The Manichaens were a Christian sect but with very strange beliefs. Somewhat of an eastern thought pervaded their faith. Similar to samadi but believed Jesus was the Christ.
