He makes over $40k per video from his Patreon alone and he can't be bothered to spend a couple hundreds for a backup microphone. How can people defend him? EDIT: STOP SlMPING FOR A LITERAL MILLIONAIRE! EDIT2: look at all his stans flocking to help a guy whom made more than $2mil in less than 3 years and can't even bother to get a decent microphone. Yes I'm sure he needs all your help ripping you off.
@@constantinethe2hpencil409 i mean.... he can but why? Video sounds ok, if there is no need to buy one why buy one? Sometimes lower quallity audio can sound fun and nostalgic
Unironically this channel helped me get over my fear of devaluing collectibles in the name of making myself happy. Learning how to open my old sealed Lego sets and stuff and drown out the screaming of collectors with the joy of actually building them is one of the biggest glowups of my life
Can't you sell the sealed one and get the same one not sealed? You would be able to experience the set while making money out of it and preserving the collectible.
I've never been the type to keep things sealed. I wanna play with them! That's what they're made for! Besides, when you just keep stuff in the box, it means you're going to just sell them later, which means you aren't even in it to enjoy them. Besides, because so many people hang onto in-package copies of stuff to sell later, they aren't going up in price the way they used to.
I still adore the cassette aux adapter thing. I know it's pretty simple how it works, but it still blows my mind! Such a cool little plastic piece of tech history. And hey, CONGRATS on finally getting one of these!
I just love how in 2023 I can get in a vehicle from the 90’s and easily connect my device through the tape deck. Working in the car business I’ve just kept a tape deck to 3.5mm adapter and lightening to aux adapter on hand if I ever get stuck driving something of the era.
@@BeesonsCars amusingly, if you want to hook up a music player to a car you're far better off with a 90s car. In the early 2000s they mostly dropped tape decks and had only CD players.... And that was several years before aux inputs came along. My father in law has an 03 Silverado that surprisingly has a tape deck. He uses a tape deck to 3.5mm adapter plugged into a Bluetooth to 3.5mm adapter. It's kinda amusing to look at but it works great.
if my last car hadnt gotten totaled last year, id still be usin the old ipod tape--my new car has actual bluetooth and aux but those tapes are heaps useful
@@handles_are_dumb_01 dude tell me about it. I used to have a Mercedes from the mid 00’s that had a PCMCIA / SD card slot, a 6 disk dvd changer, but no aux or USB. I ended up having the car coded by the dealer to tell the HU it had an aux port and installed it myself. The easiest solution for cars of this era is an FM transmitter, but I’ve yet to hear one that actually sounds “good.”
@@ukargeo it's called an intensifier, it's similar to saying "I'm crazy hungry right now" or "I'm extremely sad they cancelled that show." It's supposed to give more 'weight' or seriousness to what's being discussed. In the use case above, they're saying the ipod that was opened wasn't "just old" but "an ancient artifact" of sorts (obviously elaborating since the iPod is only 20ish years old, and a real artifact would be more like 20 centuries old) Other words that could be used as intensifiers: completely, highly, utter, authentic, bona fide, indubitable, absolute, total, genuine. Hope this helps! :]
For anyone who haven't checked out garbage time and the drum thing, if you enjoy dankpods at all you are doing yourself a disservice by not checking those other channels out as I legitimately believe it some of the best content wade has produced in the last few months and I think dankpods is awesome
I love how on the packaging on the screen of the iPod it only says "Don't steal music" in English, but then in German it's super polite being like "Please do not steal music". I dunno I found that kinda funny xD Anyways, I'm legit surprised by how shiny these iPods used to be. I always thought they were meant to look kinda rough, because that's the only way I've seen those xD
man you are one of the few big youtubers i watch having this much microphone issues lmao, and im not even mad it makes the experience authentic because you still push out the content for us and i LOVE that! big love and support from France man! ps: (french translation: baguette, croissant fromage drapeau blanc!)
@@blackjack-bd3jb me when I lie Seriously, bruz, he’s a human being for fucks sake. Do you expect him to have some sort of production team when it’s only him who works on 4 channels, plus a streaming platform? He’s only got his mum and James working for him, everything else is just him.
You have a wonderful low/hum singing voice. And you have a wicked sense of humor. I’m not surprised your channel had blown up cause you have all the makings of being a great entertainer!
Man when you said you had to get this shipped from way far away, I had sudden flashbacks to when I found your channel. All videos bitching about how the eBay international shipping facility kept just destroying the boxes and sending shit basically in pieces, and then refusing to give refunds. Its been great watching the channel grow since then.
I share the same amount of excitement as you… I was about 11 when my dad game me his 4th gen. His exact words were “I found this in my workshop you can have this ancient hunk of junk since you like iPods for some reason” sadly the 30 pin broke and the drive died but still 4 months of goodness
I dunno if you read your comments but I wanted to give you a quick thank you. I lost one of my nugs recently (My Shrek Green 4th gen one, RIP Pistachio) and needed a replacement, but all the ones I found online were super expensive and weren't even guaranteed to work. I'd never thought to look in Cashies because all the ones around here seem to sell instruments and nothing else, but I thought I'd give it a look and lo and behold I found a 3rd gen nano in the case, scratched up and clearly had been sitting there for a while. The guy let me arm it to check it worked and it went on, the wheel worked so I brought it home! Charged it up and it holds charge like a champ, it connected immediately to my computer and boom. And it only cost me £18! So yeah, thank you for showing me the magic that is Cashies and saving me about £40! Also that's a 4th gen nano, I tend to have 4th gen and 5th gens around :P
I will excuse the iPhone audio if it means a new dankpods video, keep up the good work Wade! Always happy to see one of your channels pop up on recommended
I can't believe you actually did this. Thank you tho! I've never seen anyone unbox these, didn't even know what the packaging looked like 😂. I've wanted one of those for ages now, but never got my hands on one. There's no need for it anymore, but it would still be cool to own one.
I dont really understand why some think MP3 players are obsolete? I have an iPhone like every other droog, but I also have an Ipod touch in my car and one in my bedroom. I'll own dedicated MP3 players for as long as they make them.
its funny cause the cardboard table is where the dock is supposed to be on the high storage models (that actually came with a dock), so they used the same box for all ipod sizes.
Thank you for this - the iPod 4th gen was my first (and only) iPod ever and it still (kinda) works when plugged in! The classic six-pin FireWire cable to Dock Connector cable is also a rarity - it is pretty much impossible to buy a working one anywhere these days!
hello from the Philippines! I got addicted to collecting Ipod Classics because you! Love your channel!! Please dont stop making these types of funny videos!!
It's really cool that the homie has worked hard enough and got far enough on yt that he was able to fulfill one of his curiosities and not have to worry too much about the value he lost on the item
I appreciate your composition and framing. When I clicked on the video it was buffering so the RU-vid loading circle was spinning around the Apple logo on the iPad perfectly. You had that thing dead center in the frame.
5:16 i'm amazed that such a comparatively modern os still recognizes content created for a much older computer. like, it's not just a generic "unsupported" error
Ok, so this audio was quite the adventure. When you moved sexy speaker behind the camera, I actually heard it behind me through my headset. Now that is immersion!
You should charge it to 60% before putting it back, the battery seems to still be good but that's not gonna last if you leave it to discharge even further.
YES I DID IT, I’ve had watch every single one (except your aftershow episodes, no money) of your Dankpods videos with in a week and what a prefect timing for me to finished it off with a brand new video. And wow what an adventure I had, knowing all the family members and inside jokes in this channel, oh and even the watch every ad that show up, to try to say here’s my way of helping. And even went through a phase of first enjoying, then getting annoyed to then back to loving scarlet fire Oh you frank!
My first was a 4th gen Nano. I had sonic the hedgehog 1 on there and got so good, that I was able to beat the entire game hitless, with the clickwheel controls Sadly a teacher confiscated it for like a week, and then someone stole it from the teacher's stash of confiscated stuff. I still wanna cry about it to this day. Was the first time I ever had a music player that wasn't a filthy nugget, and I lost it due to a teacher's power tripping ;~;
This is slightly unrelated to this video, but Dank shows that it’s not the topics of the content you make that makes it entertaining, it’s how much you’re passionate about the topic that makes it entertaining! Take for his example his calculator video, he literally made a video looking at a bunch of old calculators, which yeah is a topic people enjoy, but for quite a few people they wouldn’t have any interest yet still watch the video and have a good laugh. I am AMAZED that this man can make anything seem fun.
This was my first iPod, I was 19, uni student, saved up all year, and split the cost for a Christmas present with my dad and girlfriend at the time, such great memories!
I've got a 20gb 4th Gen with a dead drive. Need to find a good one eventually. Because I'd like to fix it. My car is a 2004 Lincoln LS, the same year as my 4th gen. And Was specifically targeted at the same demographic as the Ipod, so having the two just feels right to me. Funny thing is tho, car has no USB ports or a headphone jack, despite being advertised at the younger generations at the time.
Honestly I don’t see how designing packaging that has to have a bunch of stuff printed off for it and has to be shipped probably separately and otherwise for everything else you used to get in the box is any better for the environment. If they included the adapter and headphones they wouldn’t need to print separate boxes off for those.
It's my boy! I saved up all summer at my very first job doing grocery store bagging to get one of these lovely 20 gigs. Thanks for the trip down memory lane!
Man I missed the iPod content, it was the reason I subbed all those years ago but I still watch every video on every channel as soon as it comes out because I just love the content
Baller episode this week! Everytime I open a special factory sealed package I have to get a whiff of the original factory smell. Am I weird? What is 19 year old Apple factory stink like?
!!!!! Fun video! My first iPod was an iPod mini (not sure if it was first or second gen), my mom bought it for me between 2004-2005, took it every day to middle school, and I loved that thing. I used it for years until it stopped working and my mom bought me an iPod touch first gen (or maybe second gen), it was so groundbreaking and awesome back then.
you can pull the american plug off the brick and swap it out for an aus one or use a normal ac cable. there is also a locating lug the holds the plug in place that can also double as a bottle opener
The patreon supporters are SOOO DAMN MANY, that you’d have to most likely go frame by frame just to see each name…. Great. This man has soo many great people helping him out.
The "splotches" on the screen are most likely due to the battery starting to expand and its pushing the lcd into the plastic cover. As crazy as it sounds it might be worth replacing it before it inevitably breaks the lcd.
This reminds me of phones back then, Back in the old days you get not only a charger, not only a USB cable, NOT ONLY EARPHONES, BUT ALSO A FREAKING CABLE TO HOOK UP YOUR PHONE TO A TV (Nokia N95)
Very nice! I had this same experience in 2004 or 2005. My first iPod and Apple product was a 4th Gen 20 Gig iPod, that I bought off the apple website, and had engraved.
I actually bought a BRAND NEW 4th Gen (HP) iPod with YEARS of lawn mowing money. I’ll never forget the absolute decadence of peeling the protective tape off of it. Those old iPods scratched just from the air surrounding them.
