While I know nothing about building a home, engineering, etc.. I will give you major props documenting the entire process. Not only are you straight up building hype but you're most likely already making your money back (slowly but surely). It's true what they say, "everything is content" - and you're doing it the right way. Keep up the hard work!
Thanks Tariq! It's so true, everything is content and if you get creative with it you can def make some cash back. It's not a ton but I can see it starting to grow. Plus it's just fun to have this stuff to look at back at!
Good evening Devon, this project is awesome. I’ve been wanting to do a container home for years now. Although you’re much further along than I am career wise, hopefully it won’t take me much longer to get to the point you are today. The design really caught my eye as it’s eerily similar to the one I have been tinkering with. Hope to see more great progress soon.
I’m so proud of you for so many reasons: your vision, execution, hard work, and appreciation for others who have helped. I’m probably just shy of triple your age and I’ve been obsessed with tiny houses, container homes, and construction for well over two decades. I’ve significantly remodeled a couple and cut down trees to clear land... that’s hard work!! You had so many ways to spend your time, money, and talents - kudos for spending it this way!! I am well, I What an awesome investment and welcome retreat for others. I saw some comments that you could have saved so much money if you’d done things differently or with contractors and the like, and that may be the case. But you have your own personal experience in doing so much of the work yourself if not almost all of it; no amount of savings or money can take that away from you. Your creation is an investment that will pay you back in spades in time to come - you know you did everything the good old-fashioned, solid, honest way. I can’t imagine why anyone would ever have anything negative to say about what you’ve done when the world is full of young people with filthy amount of money and talent just throwing it away. You go!!!
You are doing a great job! Keep uploading videos! I sent you a message on IG last week. (Same user name as here) I am planning on moving to Washington state within 2 years, I want to buy a few acres and build a shipping container house to live in. I am an Aircraft mechanic/welder. My question for you: how much did it cost you to turn your ideas into blueprints?
My plans cost about 12k all in, for structural architectural, mechanical, plumbing, electrical, and insulation. Plus a little more cause I actually had some addendums for some mods I ended up making. I'm selling my plans on my site if you're interested, otherwise good luck. (Www.thepacificbin.com)
First, I love watching the progress of this project. Second, I'm greatful for all the amazing information you provide about the process. I was wondering if you could explain the beginning process (concept, to design, to execution). I'm very interested in doing a similar project but as a primary residence. I found a design I absolutely love (with tweeks and additions lol). The design I found was built in Easthampton, NY (6 container 4bed 2.5bath). Im just stuck on design (especially structural). I have the idea, I have rough drawings that I did, but I don't know if any of it is actually possible. Any help you can provide would be huge.
