When TSM announced a professional Fortnite team consisting of TSM Daequan, TSM Hamlinz, TSM Myth and TSM CaMiLLs, expectation shot through the roof. Viewers thought the team would be unstoppable. However, as time progressed and reality set in, the team would crumble and fall apart, one player at a time. Some randomly disappeared in early 2020, others couldn't handle the heat, goals misaligned, and the project was ultimately dubbed a catastrophic failure by the Fortnite community.
This is, The Unexpected Disaster of TSM’s Original Pro Fortnite Team (Daequan, Hamlinz, Myth, CaMiLLs).
Thank you guys for watching, like and sub if you enjoyed, SunnyV2 XO ❤

Man I feel bad for myth. The pressure of underperforming in competitive events when you’re called one of the best, losing friendships due to different circumstances and getting a lot of hate for being a washed streamer rn. There also must’ve been some guilt for if he performed well, they might’ve still been together

Myth proves that once again not every one handles the stage well. This was something that we were taught in theater class. After wards, I applied for back stage crew in future productions as I didn’t have the energy and charisma needed to be on stage.

So they are mentally unhealthy for leaving? But the various creators and e-sports gamers who cheated to remain relevant, say incredibly nasty things on camera or to their chat, or lick microphones and sit in a hot tub but keep creating are the healthy ones? Sometimes mental health is leaving your industry at a time. I think the dangerous assumption you make is that TSM was full of unhealthy people with character flaws. My reframe would be to be a content creator and a participator of any competitive game at a high level is inherently an mentally unhealthy vocation. At least as the industry is today. I think the assumption that folks make is that these industries can be mentally healthy as are, some creators or gamers just have flaws and that just ain't true. No matter what they these specific former TSM guys went through what I respect about them is they never let the industry make them do things you can never take back. But I would challenge you to look at the people who do grind and never left, I think you'd see plenty of folks who have crossed the line I am talking about. Thats the line that matters not mental health, because the way streaming and e-sports is now their is no "healthy" way to do those and maintain high levels of success.

I feel bad for camillz cause I was in the same situation in call of duty. I was on a really good competitive cod team, and we were looking solid enough to make some good money in tournaments and stuff. I couldn’t keep up with the higher skill though. Like I can dominate in public matches easily, drop 50-60 kills a game. But when you can’t get past a certain skill hurdle, it can be hard to recover. It’s not even that I was playing bad, I just wasn’t up to the teams standards. The team ended up getting a new fourth and they went on to be successful and win a lot of money in tournaments, and I’m still chill with all of them. Just sucks not being able to compete because your skill lagged behind.

The first time you participate in a gaming tournament, you realize it's a whole different beast than being good at the game in your own home. In fact its even true if you play an online tournament from home, just having the structure of rules and the timing of when you play a match be out of your control, the pressure, whether you get to warm up, it's a different skill to put in peak performance when it really counts. For anyone thinking of competing in tournaments the advice is to start jumping in even if you expect to get wrecked in the qualifiers, because you need a good amount of real tournament experience to even start rising to the level of winning.

BRs have a huge divide between competitive players and creators. This is on full display in apex legends where really good creators struggle to do well in competitive and the game is played very differently in competitive. There have been some good creator squads but they usually have some competitive experience. The odd thing about apex is that most top comp players become top creators. ESPECIALLY for these people who were propelled by fortnite. New games help make streamers but nothing like fortnite did. They were probably terrified that if they started playing other stuff they’d lose their audience, and they would some. I watched the whole TSM Fortnite comp team since day 1. The problem was that Myth was the leader but he never played competitive games or played in tournaments, and his duo was Hamlinz. Hamlinz was a good player but was being held down by Myth since he was the igl so he had to do what Myth said but Myth is a bad igl. Daequan and Camills were the other duo and they did good especially in Friday Fortnite, but then Camills started making bad decisions that would cost them the wins they needed. Camills got benched due to mental health issues because of the pressure, he said it himself he had negative thoughts. Daequan then started getting bored of competitive fornite he said he didn't like how it was just people hiding in boxes for 20 minutes. He expected Fortnite to be everyone rushing and fighting but it was just people hiding in their boxes. Hamlinz started disliking Fortnite because of the dumb stuff EPIC was adding to the game so he decided to go into content creation. Myth was the only one that decided to keep trying competitive Fortnite but he was never really good, he was an overrated public lobby player. In the end when Myth finally retired from competitive fortnite he admitted that the reason he never did good and placed in tournaments was because that was his first time playing a game competitively and he just wasn't experienced, he said it was just a learning experience for him.

Sounds like they needed a coach , the thing about building a team is you need players who compliment each other and whose individual strengths can come together and make them a stronger whole . This is like having a super talented roster of stars who don't have direction and expected to just perform . Translating solo skills to team skills takes a transformation and really someone who can look at each person , break down their skills, and figure out a gameplan to make all the players boost each other up . Great analysis , If they would have had someone like you to layout their strengths / weaknesses and figure out how to use each other to improve the strengths while focusing on minimizing the weaknesses they may have performed better.

None of them were good enough for any competition involving some of the world's best players, because they simply are not the world's best players and never would be as they just lack that skill and ability. Myth might have been nervous or anxious during the public tournaments but that's really just an excuse which he uses to avoid analyzing his own talent and admitting that he lacks the skill to compete against proven players. Having TSM in his name and being a 'pubstomper' against mostly casual players in the earliest seasons of Fortnite probably inflated his ego and made him feel like he was good enough. So him 'retiring' from the professional scene to focus more on content creation is what is best for him. He's a decent gamer and probably has an entertaining personality so he can still attract an audience to support him but none of those four dudes were exceptional players, just above average during the age of Fortnite where most other high level players would find the game too boring or absolutely stupid with its 5-star hotel building mechanics.

@ricniks4619
@ricniks4619 2 года назад
Because they are part of the *Competitive Fortnite team* if Hamz, Dae, and Camills just wanted to play the game for fun they should have just become content creators with TSM instead of just letting Myth do all the work for them. Other orgs like Faze and Liquid have people who play comps or practice a lot on their team and therefore do well in tournaments.
@richardrobinson7429
@richardrobinson7429 2 года назад
He picked his team poorly. Competitive is a business and he went with friendship over people who probably wanted it more. Dont get me wrong at the time dea and hamlinz where viewed as elite in the fortnite scene. The timing was just off, probably orgs where just getting names as fast as they could

@@ybtnardo i don't think anyone back then had the faintest idea that competitive fortnite would look like it does now. If you look at early fortnite competitive matches i.e big time streamers all in one lobby, it looked like a regular pub match. I remember watching a match they where in with that had 3 other teams and the rest was just pub players. They sat in zone in a massive 3x3 waiting. That probably made dea and hamlinz sour on competitive if it was gonna be nothing but sitting around
@DanielHernandez-mv1fw
@DanielHernandez-mv1fw 2 года назад
The issue just came down to the amount of skill and talent that came out when fortnite started going tournament style. You had these streamers who were good enough to kill random lobbies and pub stomp to get a following and be looked at as *professionals* but then had to face the fact that they had to take on people with actual skill and get destroyed. Had to choose of playing on the team and not getting viewers cuz you wouldn't be getting wins 24/7 or stream pub stomps and make more money. Can't compete with 12-15 year Olds that are fortnite gods
@richardrobinson7429
@richardrobinson7429 2 года назад
They probably thought games would playout like a pub match. Even the invitationals where just like pub matches even though they had heavy hitters at the time like, TG, Ninja, Myth, HD, Noah, Avery, Camillz, and etc. Dea and hamlinz are players that can't sit still, they have to be moving at all times or they'll get bored and lose focus. I game with a guy who can't play stealth games cause he hate taking his time, as ill watch the way the enemy is moving and look for the best route to go undected
@saviorofs0ng
@saviorofs0ng 6 месяцев назад
The worlds qualifiers really exposed all that. Tfue and Vivid were the most notable names to make it among other smaller streamers but it was a lot of unknown people who were able to make it. Playgrounds really upped the skill level of the entire scene. The beloved streamers just couldnt keep up anymore.
@impacc4182
@impacc4182 5 месяцев назад
@@saviorofs0ngYet the streamers you’re babbling about were on the top leaderboards when the game came out in season 1. Daequan actually quit comp not because he wasn’t “good enough” whatever that means but because he didn’t like how slow the comp seen got and everybody was just camping in boxes. Hell I even remember daequan carrying Camillz in the Fortnite Friday tournaments they used to have. Same with myth and hamilnz, they slowed down when they saw how much more they can make with content creation. So don’t act like the tsm was just a bunch of scrubs that couldn’t adapt because it’s clear you didn’t watch the game back then they outgrew it and the game left them behind
