My favourite parable , and I believe it is story of repentance!!.> because prodigal son's eyes opened in the midst of pigs)) He realised his father was kind and good and not controlling and harsh ( as he thought initially and as the older son thought) . And also because 2 short parables previousely talking and emphasising the fact of repentance of the ONE ( sheep or coin) who was lost! and also the words of the father of the prodigal - my son was dead and is not alive , lost and now found - it is about repentance, radical repentance. Father did not go after his soon until his son was ready to turnaround - repent! It changes everything! the father rejoices over the change of heart of his sons and daughters!

Thank you for this teaching- the Lord recently showed me how this plays out between the House of Judah being the elder son and the house of Israel being the younger kingdom. It is from the 10 north tribes Christians come from.

Awesome video. Thank you for this. Question, doesnt the robe, the ring, sandals, and calf all have meanings as well? The way i have read it before is that the robe represented the father covering his son. As the son would have more than likely been dirty. Its a symbol of God covering our sinfulness. The ring represents the father giving the son identity. As the Father gives us an identity seals our identity with the Holy Spirit. The sandals were used as a way of showing the son was on a new path. Much like we are when we come to Christ. Lastly, the fattened calf, as these types of calfs, were often used for sacrifice, was a representation of Christ. Do you have a video where you touch more on these? As I am not 100% sure I am correct? Thanks again!

First, I must admit that until the '80s I was a Lutheran. Then I got into a heated argument with the local pastor who argued that Lutherans were WASP republicans. Being from the outcast group I had problems with that so now I'm Catholic. Not much better, but... With that in mind I viewed this video and several others you put out and their accuracy had me in tears. One recent find relates to this video and the parable of the dishonest steward. I found how much this second parable and this one presented here are so much alike. Then you present a line that formally ties them together. You argue how sometimes a father would give his son his inheritance early. In that case, the son becomes a steward of his father's estate who is liable to protect it and his father. Like the youngest son, charges are laid upon the dishonest steward. Luke 16 reports οὗτος διεβλήθη αὐτῷ ὡς διασκορπίζων τὰ ὑπάρχοντα αὐτοῦ. He was slandered that he was scattering his beginnings, his possessions. Both the younger son are accused of the same thing, the younger son by his brother. Like you, I found how the older son slanders his brother. I got into heated arguments with a Lutheran pastor, and many a Catholic one on this point. Studying some Judaism I found something interesting. לֹא תִשָּׂא אֶת-שֵׁם-יְהוָה אֱלֹהֶיךָ, לַשָּׁוְא. לֹא-תַעֲנֶה בְרֵעֲךָ עֵד לַשָׁוְא Or as you point out, יֵשֵׁב רִאשׁוֹנָה וִיחַשֵּׁב אֶת־הַהוֹצָאוֹת Is there a pun on יֵשֵׁב and לַשָׁוְא? Like you, I believed for a long time that the younger son is dishonest in the confession he makes up before he returns home. Then, as you notice, the father says, "While he was still far off." That is both physical and spiritual. He is far off in his confession and he is still far away from home. The younger son squanders his estate, διεσκόρπισεν τὴν οὐσίαν αὐτοῦ ζῶν ἀσώτως. What is ἀσώτως. ασωτηρ means unsaved. What does that mean, if anything? Therefore, am I right in saying Jesus is deliberately ambiguous here? If so, does the story end with the same thing, the father not caring about what the charges are? Last, and I also got into many heated conversations on this last point, the father never gives the younger son another portion. On the contrary, he tells the younger son, "Whatever I have is yours. How does this relate to the remaining story? Likewise, does Luke 16 accurately relate the charges against the youngest son? The children of this world are more prudent in dealing with their own generation than are the children of light. The younger son is a know-it-all, a hothead who thinks he can do better by investing elsewhere. He learns otherwise. The law of no pigs at the table was then demolished when God made clean the unclean (Gentiles). There was no longer a necessity to learn a lesson of keeping away from the unclean bc God has made everyone clean who comes to Him

Do the brothers in this sense represent born again believers, but the older is trusting heavily on works for righteousness and the younger repents from being backslidden, or are both brothers unsaved when the story starts? Does the younger brother “get saved” by returning with humility to his father or was he already saved?

Bro Chad so we as NT CHRIST INS shouldn't eat pork meat....pls let me know...so why does Scripture say that everything God created is good and is supposed to be taken if received with thanksgiving ....pls . explain
