The Ucard doesn't work for groceries or utility bills. It worked in Jan. but wouldn't work for Feb. I've called the number on the back of the card, spoken to numerous people about this and I am not sure what to do!!!!
bonnie butler I am sorry that you are having these issues. If this was for a Dual Complete plan I know that the specifications for Medicaid are changing and soon a good amount of people might loose their dual complete eligibility. This is why it is so important to sign up with a local agent so that they can help you along the way.
Hi. So, to be clear, I know we've been getting the OTC benefits online via order (on a quarterly basis). Will we still (in 2023) get a "catalog", and then go to the store, and then get them for "free" until we reach our maximum? Thanks for clarifying.
United Healthcare sucks they need to take Healthcare off their tag. They create more stress and pain. I couldn't believe an AI answered the phone today! WTF they're no longer human
Leewhydidi Thanks for the comment. UHC was having a very hard time for this roll out across the US. Many people had to have new cards sent out to have them work in-store. However, they were still able to use their benefits on their online portal.
my mother has a ucard and wants to use the rewards portion online at multiple stores however because the ucard has a 17 digit numbers and the stores only will let you utilize 16 digit credit cards so does that mean it isn't usable?
Hello Jeanne. Thanks for the comment. I would double check to see if the store that you are at is with in the U card network. I know that there were a lot of issues with the U cards at the beginning of the year so I would call into customer service for this, since there may be something wrong with the number itself.
I'm an American with a UCard and I can't use it to pay for things in store or at my local Mcdonalds because the UCard does not have a magnetic strip or chip to swipe or insert in their card readers so I'm stuck with my renew awards points I've accumulated this month with unable to spend it.
The UCard will only pay for certain items at certain places unfortunately. To pay for the items that would be covered under the UCard it uses a barcode vs. having a magnetic strip. It works more like a coupon rather than a debit/credit card.
@@kristinsnuggetsofknowledge2273 So, it's like the 2022, Blue, OTC + Healthy Food Benefit card? On the back of that card, it said "Available at WALMART and other participating retailers" and a thirty-one page cataloge with eligible items came with the card. I didn't get the catalog with the"UCard". I called and they said they would send one in 2-4 weeks, but by then my "allotment" might go unspent. I'm so confused. Do you think it's a fair bet that last year's catalog items would still be eligible? Has any one compared this year's catalog to the last one? Thanks in advance. 😊
@@kkbronson Thank you for your question. Yes it is a universal card that now has the ability to store you OTC, Health Foods, Rewards benefits on it via a bar code on the back of the insurance card. I do know that from year to year they do make small changes to their OTC but there is a lot of items that do stay the same.
This is difficult I can't even shop online anymore every thing is messed up when I click on online shopping it takes me to a rally account that I'm not registered too
My wife and I have been with UHC for years, and one of the benefits we liked was the First Line Benefits which provided $60 initially on a quarterly basis for OTC products like Band Aids and OTC meds. That benefit has dropped to $40, but FAR WORSE is that UHC has apparently changed the Provider of those benefits to "Healthy Benefits" (my guess, the lowest bidder); the program is now called "U-Care" and should be called "I Don't Care". I placed an order in January and have still not received it and calling the number provided results in a phone tag game where 1) I speak with multiple people for whom, obviously, English is NOT a primary language and 2) I or my wife are told different things just to get us off the line e.g. one person said the package was "in transit" (it was not) or "we''' get back with you in 3 or 4 days" (did not happen). Someone in authority at United Healthcare needs to be aware that U-Care is apparently a "Non-Benefit".
You obviously haven't bothered to educate yourself regarding the current flexible utility of the UHC U-Card. The OTC benefits from the old benefit program? I still have products from over two years ago that I haven't used, and back then you couldn't buy food with the card, nor could you pay utilities, et cetera. Now, UHC gives me $150 a month to purchase healthy food (but that's a little glitchy; it won't let me buy frozen bread, but it will pay for patently unhealthy foods). Being on Social Security, that $150 a month to put towards groceries is a godsend.
@@williamkuns9732 The benefit you're receiving doesn't apply to all. Speaking for myself, I get $50 worth of UHC catalog credit quarterly. NO $150/month, no food whatsoever unless you'd like to categorize cough drops as food. lol
$60 on a quarterly basis? Try $5 a month what can one do with $5 ? I just let it build up n then go to the store to find ot that it won't pay for my fresh tomatoes. Have a blessed day.
I am with United health care AArp, I just received this U card for the first time..just as I am changing to another company...I was never goven any type of rewards card before..and I have been with United for over 10 years...
Hello Frankie. Thanks for the comment. It all depends on what plan people are on. There can be several plans per county across the US. This is why there is so much variation on the amount.
I was okay with the OTC benefits until the "U" card.... now required to receive the benefits, AND whose application stated that I was giving permission for them to track and trace me!!😮 I declined their INFLATED 50 bucks!
Hi Alex! From my trainings the UHC ID card is simply that an identification of insurance with UHC. The U card is and all in one card. It not only has all the information on it that an ID card has but it also has the ability to be used in place of the old food cards, OTC cards, and rewards cards.
UHC was having trouble with the USA wide roll out of their cards. Most everyone got new cards mailed out to them. If it comes with a letter to activate it then you will need to activate.
Hello Muhammad. This U Card does not change your health plan. They have just included a bar code on the back of the insurance plan card to eliminate the previous extra benefits card.
@@shawniriel5962 and @Donaciano Gonzalez... The government has put into place a lot of rules and regulations when it comes to posting videos. They have really made things very difficult or I would still be posting videos regularly. I do apologize for this.
It’s next to impossible to pay your electric or propane account as “they” don’t want to put your local utility companies on the list!!! I’ve called, complained talked to everyone in the company including my agent to no avail. Plus the only stores in my area that will take this card is Walmart and Walgreens both an hours drive from me. It would be so much better to be at least able to buy the allowed groceries at my local store !! I really wanted to use it for my electric or propane but they won’t do it. Basically this us a scam! What “they “ really want you to do is buy overpriced crap from their catalog non of which I use anyway!!!
I am on Section 8 with HUD. My Housing Authority is counting this UCArd as income. This is going to make my rent go really high. This card was supposed to help but it is really hurting those of us on HUD. Can you help with this?
@@PrimeDirective101, Thank you for getting back to me. Could you give me a definitive answer?. Where or whom can I turn to determine if this Ucard will count as income with my Section 8 with HUD? I need to copy and paste an answer that I can send to my caseworker. It is not just me in this situation. This is hurting a lot of people that it was supposed to help.
You gotta pay attention and do your own research. Not many people know how to explain this. But I work in the healthcare industry for many years in many call centers.
When I swiped my UCard at QFC to pay for groceries, I might as well have been swiping a blank piece of cardboard! The card got NO response at all. No beep, no message, nothing!
Hello JackyFlowers. Unfortunately the video thumbnail is the picture to go off of. This video was also created last year when they did a preliminary roll out of the UCard in the midwest as a test ground.
So, its useless as far as I can see. I've always ordered my OTC from the catalog. When I tried to use this card, I couldn't at WalMart. It doesn't have an expiration date to enter into their computer. I called UH, they gave me another website to order "stuff". They told me a very long website to access. I asked the CS person why they didn't have a link for it on UH homepage. Crickets chirped.
Hi lovely lady! My friend wants to use his benefits before they expire this month, but doesn't have transportation. How can he order food from home? We live too far away from Amazon fresh type service, we're in Washington. Thanks!
It basically sucks . You cannot use it at Walmart and the Ruler has a difficult time with it . God forbid trying to use it a self checkout . Also my utility companies don't recognize it .
i signed up for alley uhc SNP and the ucard its great but its too many numbers and my internet and my cellphone and electricity dont take long numbers like that is this right
Hello Shariful Alam. Thanks for the comment. Call into UHC Customer Service number (www.uhc.com/contact-us) or if you have an online portal you may be able to request one there. Or call the agent who help get you set up.
So I'm new to this renew active thing and I have been trying for the past 2 weeks to use my gym membership. My code is active and everything but it just doesn't work. Can you please explain why we can't use the gym code and what exactly we have to do because I am losing my mind going in circles spending all day on the phone
you take your card and code to the gym and they will enter the code which will qualify you for membership but you may want to call and see which gym is covered most of them are and so is the YMCA
This card is very hard to use. You can NOT buy the brands that you are custom The stores are very limited. In NYC it's only 4 stores. Walmart is number 1 but we don't have walmart
Hello Torrie Thank you for your comment. It is hard to make adjustments to what you are used to. You can utilize their online or phone app to make purchases on your UCard.
Member card then second year pushing a ucard with out explanation , no paperwork to wxplain, just a freckin sticky activate. What the hell is it a debit card, called custemer service no money on it. Tired of b.s. and if i am a good puppy and do what you say maybe a reward. Maybe look for other coverage
I'm not a fan of the UCard. The re-loadable card UnitedHealthcare used to provide for earned rewards was great. I could use it anywhere. If I wanted to go see a movie out to eat at a restaurant, shopping or whatever. Like a credit card or gift card. Now...with the UCard? Forget it. Can't use my rewards money anywhere accept specially approved places which all look more geared toward pushing you to buy over the counter drugs or medical supplies etc. Maybe also some groceries. The re-loadable card could be used anywhere for anything (accept alcohol). I want that back! It's my earned money to use for my enjoyment. That's why I "earn it."
Tommy's Dirt And Soul thank you for your comment and input. I will reach out to my contact at UHC about this. If you haven't already I would file a complaint in with them. The more they here about it they might actually do something about it.
@@kristinsnuggetsofknowledge2273 Thanks. With the introduction of the UCard they claimed it was to make things easier...which I could actually see. Before they were giving out too many cards (according to them) and it was too much to carry in your wallet etc. Now everything is on one card. Yay! (that's UHC saying yay...not me). But like I said. Now I can't just use it anywhere like the gift card. They did the same thing with the house calls/Home visits. Before 2023 they offered a $50 gift card (again..could be used anywhere). Now it's $15 loaded onto the Ucard. I don't care about the money/amount...it's the ease of use and the now limited choices.
I AGREE THEY WENT DOWN ON MINE AND MOST OF THEIR WORKERS IN TRANSPORTATION ARE RUDE AND RACIST ONLY FOR THEIR PEOPLE IN SCHEDULING MEDICAL RIDES. THE TRANSPORTATION WORKERS NEED EVALUATION. THEN WHEN I USE MY OTC CARD A LOT OF THINGS NOT COVERED. HOW CANBYOU PAY UTILITIES BUY FOID AND PRODUCTS WITH SMALL AMOUNT??? I WAS DROPPED SO LOW FROM MY BEGINNING AMOUNT
Hello Jim, Thank you for your comment. I'm sorry that you feel that way. I have a lot of happy clients on UnitedHealth Care. If you are on UHC and looking to switch you have before the end of the month to do so. If you have felt like you were cheated on their plan you need to file an appeal as well as a grievance with Medicare. Doing so will help prevent future negative things from happening.
I understand how the card will work BUT cannot find the UCard Hub on the United Healthcare website. I want to set it up so I can pay utility bills as of January 1st. Help. I couldn't find anything with that title.
@@kristinsnuggetsofknowledge2273 Thank you. I see in some of the videos for this card that you can also use it to pay utility bills, is this true? I did not know you can use the card for that.
If United Healthcare came out with the UCard in your state just call into the customer care line on the back of your card and ask if they have rolled out the U cards in your area. And if they did request one be sent to you. :) Thanks for your question Asen.
@@asenlipska Depending on where you live you can have numerous different benefits. Dental, vision, gym, Over-The-Counter, Food, transportation, or rewards befits for healthy living activities. I would refer to your summary of benefits for these.
I hate the u card. I have very dry and sensitive skin and am confused by why this card will pay for phone or utility but not my personal hygiene. This card sucks!
A note from UHC about the issues that they have been having with the UCard roll outs for 2023. UnitedHealthcare Members, We have identified two issues related to UCard retail transactions that we are actively working to remediate and want you to be aware of. It’s important to note, these errors do not impact a member’s ability to visit a doctor’s office or fill a prescription. This also does not impact the use of the UnitedHealthcare mobile app, which can still be used to make OTC and Healthy Food purchases in store. Barcode printing issue We recently discovered there was a barcode printing error at one of our print vendors that is causing UCards to be declined at the point of sale when using OTC, Healthy Food and earned rewards credits. This only impacts a subset of UCards: members new to UnitedHealthcare for 2023 (not members who are new to UCard); members who made plan changes; and members who received replacement cards. The majority of members have UCards with correct barcodes. In fact, as of January 4, 2023, there have been 1.1M successful transactions providing members with over $64M of OTC, healthy food, and utility benefits. Dual Special Needs Plan (DSNP) and Chronic Special Needs Plan (C-SNP) members will be first to receive their new UCards via postal service first class mail, and that process is in motion. Non-SNP members will receive their replacement UCard via postal service first class mail within three weeks. Impacted members with a monthly benefit credit will have any unused January credit extended into February to ensure they do not lose their benefits. While waiting for their updated UCard, impacted members can continue to shop in three ways: 1. Via Phone: Members with a Healthy Food benefit can order shelf-stable food and Mom’s Meals fresh produce over the phone. Members should use the following numbers, which can be found in the apology letter they will receive: a. CSNP/Non-SNP: 833-845-8798 b. DSNP: 833-853-8587 2. Online: by signing into their myuhcmedicare.com plan website andgoing to the UCard Hub. 3. In-store: by downloading the UnitedHealthcare mobile app to access a correct, digital copy of their UCard to scan in-store. Transaction challenges We have learned that not all Walmart, Kroger, and a few other stores are familiar with how to accurately complete a UCard transaction. To work correctly, UCard must be scanned AFTER the transaction has been totaled and Credit/Debit has been selected. If the card is scanned before Credit/Debit is selected, UCard will not work, and it will show as an invalid item. Our technology vendor is working with stores to provide additional education to stores on how to process UCard. We are creating a process for you to submit specific stores that need additional education from our technology vendor. We will continue to actively monitor, test, and quality check the UCard experience to ensure it meets our standards and appreciate your feedback to raise awareness of any issues. We pride ourselves on delivering a quality experience and sincerely apologize for the inconveniences our members and agents have experienced. We can and will do better.
@@destineydevereux4722 I'm sorry to hear that your experiencing difficulties with the card. The national roll out of these UCards have come with some issues. Hopefully UHC will be able to fix your issue soon.
I have this card. The website says I can pay my power bill. Lie! The online payment section does not show the card logo. I can use the benefit card at HyVee but I get limited on how many of a given brand I can buy. For instance, If I like Stouffers, I can buy 6 at a time for X number of times (not sure the total of X is) I would have 6 rung up and I pay with card then buy 6 more. (7 or more I have to pay for) Today I tried to buy 6 and it only credited for one. I can't use self-checkout at HyVee because the otion to pay with the health card is not shown, so I have to stand in line and wait for a human to ring up my purchases and pay with the card. Now, if I go to Walmart there doesn't seem to be any problems because they accept the health card as payment. I can buy groceries online and pay with the card. I have no car, so this purchasing thing is tough. Right now, I have $64 on my card to use by the 31st. HyVee is stingy and will only allow credit for 1 frozen dinner out of the 6 I want. Walmart will accept with no limit on number of items purchased. Without a car, I could get delivery but its $7.95 delivery plus $7.00 tip. $14.95 to spend my "Benefit" money. The Walmart has to be on the bus line so I can carry food home. The one on bus line is always out of something, and the Walmart Market is not on a bus line so I'm limited on where to shop. I'm glad you all are happy about getting this "Benefit". I'm finding more and more of a pain with what little I have, and they want to give me more money at the first of the year. Yes, I did contact customer service, and I explained what I was dealing with. I wanted to know why I was limited on purchases at HyVee. They couldn't tell me anything except may there was an item limit, or something didn't qualify.
AquaCarb. I feel bad for your situation. This benefit is definitely limited. Some individuals do get ride services with their insurance. Does your UHC plan cover that? That might help on somethings. Unfortunately companies that participate in the program can limit items and how much benefit is used. I'm sorry that you are having a hard time using the card.
