Amelia and JP VLOG 188: Our move to Olón from Cuenca Ecuador is complete! We're now officially beach dwellers!
For the most part, the move was very smooth, but the Universe had one major test waiting for us upon our arrival that was a reminder to embrace our tranquilo, let go of the outcome and trust that everything will work out alright in the end.

I'm an Ecuadorean living In Jersey I was in Olon twice but i consider one of the best places when it comes to the sea shores in Ecuador.a little country but with hundreds of places to visit,I'm glad that you enjoying the beauty of my country that is now yours as well.

Thanks for sharing. I’m an American married to an an Ecuadorian. My husband, our two oldest kids and I lived in Cuenca for 3 years. The other 6 years we lived in Guayaquil. In 2001/2002 we moved to the USA in CT. In this video it brought back memories seeing your road trip from Cuenca to the coast, I recognized Cajas also some of the other places you passed through. We miss Ecuador. It’s been 5 years for me and my husband 4. One day we hope to return.

I lived in Cuenca for a year when I retired in 2012. Came back due to moms health. Now mine is not good enough to go back. I did love the weather in Cuenca. I like cool and cloudy. Not a beach person at all. When I was moving I lost my passport in my moms old recliner on a visit to her. I had to postpone my move by 2 weeks. I sobbed for hours the day of the original move.

Wow! So much awesome! That was fantastic--thank you for sharing it with us! :D Love driving through clouds! That spider looks like the ones we had around the house higher up this valley where I live... And the lowlands look very much like my island. (We're just on the other side of northern South America from you anyway--lots in common--except the llamas.) Those dogs are going to love the coast. Cheers to your new adventures! PS: I need an Edwin in my life. Safe, reliable drivers are hard to come by. And he's cute and personable too! :D

So sad to see you guys leaving our beautiful Cuenca..... my husband and I live in Chicago and have been following your journey. My parents were born in Cuenca but have lived in the States for more then 35 years. They recently as of 6 years ago have been staying in Cuenca half the year because they have property over there and built a new beautiful home so they are enjoying the retirement life. I have always traveled to Ecuador since I was 3 and I married a man from Cuenca so I am a Cuencanita in all sense of the word. Watching you guys we have learned about a lot more place to travel when we visit Ecuador. Can’t wait to see your journey in your new home. I am so excited for all of you that’s including dogs. I came to Vilcabamba in 2016-17 and 18three times and stayed for three months each time. First I was ready to move to Cuanca with you but when you started visiting the beach I thought the next time I am going there. That was actually my first choice but the Universe sent me toVilcabamba instead. I love Vilcabamba. However I love new places too. I have been following you since you moved to Cuenca. I am hoping to get to Ecuador by January. I would love to meet you when I am there. Enjoy your new space. Don’t forget to sage it and make it yours. Lots of love to you and the doggies!!!

Those videos of you all driving down the mountain roads remind me my drives from Quito to Atecames when I lived in Ecuador, and also the drive from Quito to Puerto Lopez and back. That last one was an incredibly long drive, one I will never do again. On the upside, I did get to drive past a Dole banana plantation, so now I know where Dole bananas are grown! :)

Great video! I so love the countryside along the way to Guayaquil, it was nice seeing it in daylight. 😁 The dogs were so well behaved, I can't wait to see Daisy's reaction to the ocean! oh, yes and take it from a person born and raised in Northern California, USA: there is definitely a huge difference between the conditions of fog and clouds.😐 really enjoyed the tour, beautiful landscapes..and it's common in Ecuador?, such personal driving/moving services? driver seems quite good, very safe..as I was wondering about taxis after hearing a few of your brief, random comments about drivers and safety re: passengers and pedestrians.😮

I enjoyed seeing the countryside on the way to Guayaquil! Also...seeing the tarantula reminded me that my grandson used to have one when he was little...I even held it! They are quite safe.

Wow!! Fabulous video, thanks for sharing your trip to your new home. I love the pets, the dogs are so much fun. The scenery was beautiful. That is more of what I prefer, the beauty of the land. If I move to Ecuador, the coast would be better for me too. I loved everything you shared about Cuenca but the weather there would be too cold for me. It seems comparable to me to winters in Phoenix which would be all year long. It gets cold here in the winter, the 30's and 40's at night and sometimes does not reach temps higher than 60. Plus I couldn't deal with the long periods of rain and gloom in Cuenca. I check weather reports in several locations on weather.com to get an idea of weather conditions. Thanks, again, am looking forward to your next adventure.

Beautiful countryside. 13,000 feet is tall. As for the coast being a temperate climate, I've lived along the California coast for about 40 years and the ocean is a powerful moderating force with respect to temperature variation.

As for misplacing stuff, I do the same thing as Amelia. You put something in a place, get distracted, then can't remember where I placed it. Thankfully, it gets found - eventually.

Hi guys I am really glad I found your vedios. I am a us citizen and I married a lady from Ecuador and her family still lives there. We are going to come and visit next year and probably move there in a few years. We are thinking of living 6 months in Ecuador and 6 months in Ohio.
