Noy a rip off, people really like using the term for any platform fighter. A rip off has to be more 1-to-1 than this, this game actually has a fair amount of distinctions to smash, this is like calling Rivals of Aether or Playstation All-Stars rip offs, they all play differently from each other and just share genre conventions. This is like calling KOF a Street Fighter rip off
