Thank you so much for such a comprehensive breakdown! It really helped me to understand the timelines. I loved this book!

Thank you for the summary! What are your thoughts on this: so if the "curse was broken" and she lived to see her grandmother grow up, and her mother born, would she then have lived to see herself born again? Are they re-writing the history as it goes along or is everything in 2024 still true in parallel, ie. did Birdie now grow up with her mother or had she always grown up with her mother (ie. june) Did Birdie ever have kids? Loved the book, still wrapping my head around it 😅

I loved this book so much but left with the same exact questions. If you ever found the answer, please share!!

The complexity of how the timelines worked exceeded my interest level. I wanted Caleb’s POV.

I didn’t even think of that!!! Yeah, what was he thinking in that last chapter? What was life like for him growing up? 🤔

I read this for a bookclub during my Spring Break. This isn't a "shut off your brain, escape and enjoy" book. it required a level of thinking and comprehension I wasn't ready for. I took more notes on this book than I have since graduating college with textbooks. Whew- what an intense brain workout here. I also did the audiobook only which I don't suggest for this one- you'll want the ability to navigate back in the book sometimes to understand what the heck is happening. This took away from the story for me- but I don't think the story is all bad. Just the way I approached it was.

Thank you so much for helping me with this book! (I loved Spells for Forgetting and was excited for this one.) I thoroughly loved it while being thoroughly confused at the same time. 😂 You explained it so well that my muddled brain finally grasped the timeline. I am going to reread it at some point now that understand it. Thanks again! New sub here!❤

To be honest I didn't really enjoy SFF. I just love the writing I mean that was a lot of work for Apples. And this was my second one and left me with too many questions. Thanks for clearing some of it up. You rock!

Spoiler in this comment. Very nice review. I think you missed something important. This bit in the last chapter: on September 19th 1966 she will bear a child and name her Susanna. my own timeline will overlap with my mother's for just over 20 years before I die I will watch her be born then she will watch me be born in this cycle this revolution Will begin again. So they will live those events over and over again forever? How does that really brake the curse?

Soooo how did Birdie get the older timeline? Like how was Birdie/Annie in both worlds with June?

One of my top reads this year. Really enjoyed the time travel aspect. You really had to concentrate to keep things straight. Kinda felt like solving a puzzle or were doing an escape room. I had an idea who Birdie was mid way through and I was happy to find out I was guessed correctly. I also enjoyed thinking about how it would be for me to try and figure out what future me did and why. One question I had was that we had grandma and great great grandma but great grandma never made an appearance right? Nice recap, you made a complicated time line plot seem simple 👍

I just looked it up, great grandma (Margret’s mother Fay) died of scarlet fever. That’s why Margret was raised by Esther.

Just finished the book. The more I think about it, the less sense it made to me. Unfortunately disappointed...

I’m confused on how Margret was 16 when she went back to 1951. If she was still “alive” in that time she whole would be older as would clean and Esther. I’m confused HELP!

I just finished this book and am feeling confused. I thought there was a 4th date on the June's list but the 4rth date (1912 or something) wasn't talked about? Was it someone's crossings? I'm so confused if i missed something and can't find answers anywhere

If you disappear from the original timeline, and there can be only one of you, how are there two June's? The June timeline that goes forth from 2024 June, (which I think we never met) and the June from 2022 stays in 1951? At the end, there are 2 Junes? Also, who is Margaret's mother if Ester is her grandmother? THis book is so confusing!
@susanoakeshauf
@susanoakeshauf 8 месяцев назад
There can't be 2 Junes. That's the point. Esther is June's great grandmother. Margaret is June's grandmother. Annie is Birdie.

That isn't one of the books that I've read, but it sounds so good! I like stories that incorporate time travel...it's so fascinating. I'm picturing you with a white board keeping track of everything CSI-style during your reading. 😂 The part about Birdie was super wild!

Time travel is so cool!!! I had to take break out the red string to keep everything straight! 😂 Some people say they saw the Birdie thing coming, it came out of nowhere for me! 😂😂😂
