I appreciate where you are coming from about "What's their story?" - but coming from someone considered a dandy or someone who knows how to put the right pieces of clothing together, I can tell you that most of the time, the watch only needs to align with my gear because when it does, the whole package tells MY STORY!

I agree that the Rolex diver`s watches as with today's technology should have been made with titanium, carbon fiber, or something else considered special material and rare - expensive. Although traditional appearance is important to Rolex I get that, but something else sometimes in limited quantity might be okay to produce?
I get what Nico is talking about with Rolex. They make nice watches but they’ve become more of a status symbol than anything else and cater to that demographic. I’m much more interested in Tudor because of their much more affordable price point and they pay homage to their roots.

by FAR the most expensive looking trade show ive ever seen, what the actual fckk! That patek movement interactive display......if you know how much all these displays actually cost...you know this is more impressive than any car show. And HARD agree on rebranding sucking all soul out of the logos....even Bugatti did it :( We're losing so much identity to a dumb trend...
Think it takes Rolex 2 yrs to put a new dial or bezel on a watch and call it the latest thing? 2 wks. Then 6 months of brand planning and ad creation. They just regurgitate and Nico loves them for it. Think we saw Nico realize in real time that James is a minor wanker.
I never got it. Why spend money on a watch and brag about how much it cost.? Why buy a Sport car that can go 200 miles an hour? Why travel from London to Geneva stay in a three or four star hotel go to a hall and look at watches you’re not going to buy? Why laugh at stuff that’s just not humorous ? Why expose yourself to arrogant loud mouth people? Did I miss something important?

Swiss watches are like Swiss banks = no big deal, old technology, uncompetitive. Give me Seiko any day! And I save on those ultra expensive 2 - and 5- year revisions. Same with German and Japanese cars. Wait for the next wave where people will prefer smartwatches over these ultra expensive mechanical miniatures. Curiosities for rich assh*les. Hardly economies of scale. And poor in terms of technology. No wonder COSC doesn't allow the Japanese to compete ... and no wonder the Japanese COSC has much higher requirements than the Swiss.
