Margaret Brown (who was renamed Molly after her death by the playwright Meredith Wilson) is often cited as the quintessential American rags-to-riches story. Born to poor Irish immigrants in Missouri, Margaret went on to become one of the wealthiest women in the country. She cemented her place in history through her heroism on the disastrous maiden voyage of the Titanic, but her life story is a compelling and unusual tale of character, compassion and just the right amount of bull-headedness. Her story is fully worthy of the many films, books and musicals which have born her name (even if that isn’t really her name, and most don’t in any way resemble her real story). Discover the remarkable woman behind the myth of the “Unsinkable Molly Brown.”
Interview recorded on location at the Molly Brown House Museum in Denver, Colorado. Our guest is Jamie Melissa Wilms, Director of Education at the Molly Brown House Museum.

A lot of ppl who do good works or works of charity, don't want to be known or remembered for what they have done, or what they do, bc they may feel that the focus is then put on them the person n not on the work or organization. My dad was like that, many ppl forget that programs like WIC ( women infants and children) and free breakfasts n lunches at school and what has become community food pantries were started by the Black Panther Party

You didn't mention that she was born Catholic, married Catholic and died Catholic. A strong and not untypical example of Irish Catholic womanhood. She raised funds to build the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception and St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver.
