Molly Brown, who was NEVER known as Molly in her lifetime, led a colorful and FAR more interesting and productive life than the ridiculous myths that have surrounded her legacy, myths invented mostly by Gene Fowler after her death. In my opinion the real Margaret Brown is much more interesting. In part one we learn about her childhood in Hannibal, Missouri, her early years in Leadville, Colorado, and her life in Denver. Part 2 will be her Titanic experience and part 3 her later years. The main source for this video was Molly Brown: Unraveling the Myth by Kristen Iverson. It is the only biography endorsed by Margaret’s family.

I grew up next to their farm/summer home. I was born in the 70s. The home was still mostly surrounded but beautiful open land donated to the county as a nature walk type of area. At one point the home had been beautifully restored but never opened to the public. Then it sat neglected for about 15 yrs. For the last several years it's been a private catering and unfortunately they built a wall around it so you can no longer enjoy looking at the beautiful old home. The main residence in downtown Denver, has been beautifully restored and and is open to the public. They do however call it the Molly Brown House.
