The problem is, and it is a problem, lawyers will block their ears and call the victim racist if they say their own skin not a white person did it. Aboriginal victims seem to matter more to lawyers when the perpetrator is white, not Aboriginal. It is not somehow more acceptable to be raped, abused and murdered when the one doing it to you has the same colour skin. - Bess Price, Aboriginal woman to Creative Spirits

A most courageous and inspiring address by a contemporary Australian Aboriginal woman, brilliantly making a case for equality for Aboriginal women to freedom from violence at the hands of Aboriginal men and calling for an end to the silence on these matters from white feminists and activists furthering their own agenda that all the ills are the work of white men.

Everyone is telling their own story , no matter who they are. But when you have someone who gives up their own time and energy to help others then That is a good thing. If you are really concerned about violence against women and children then look at the cause of that violence. You will find that Men are responsible for a good part of that violence against women and children , but then ask yourself why are Men so violent what is the root cause of all that violence. Do you think Men need help with any of their problems. I believe all Men should have a reason for being alive women need protection like Men need perpose. We the taxe payers of the Country must ensure that our children are receiving a full education with a job waiting for them when they finish school. Women need to be free to be what they want to be and Men need to be able to provide a happy life for their family. Every Man needs help with what ever their problems are and we should ensure that everyone is happy living their life.

@@garyjohnstone6422 I was talking about men who are violent, who are the ones who need help. Most men are responsible good fathers. Most women are good mothers. But there are men who need help as well as there are women who need help but it's only the women who receive it .when there is a domestic disturbance in the family the men get arrested and the women get treated like children. But both are at fault when it doesn't work out. I didn't say anything about the color of their skin but it's true that black people especially men are more violent than anyone else. But no one wants to talk about that. Why most acts of violence are done by black people especially their men.

Jacinta you raise some critical points. I spent 12 years in the Central Australian desert and have been surprised at the views I have had to endure at University. Better to listen to people who have lived in remote Australia than the popular and dumbed down racial argument of black/white, ridiculous labelling in a redundant 'social justice' costume, changing Australia Day dates and the boosting of individual careers whilst actually doing nothing for people (especially the women and children) who need it most. In Canada, we are to be convinced that there is a cabal of serial killers along a Northern BC Highway that borders along several First Nations Territories. Rampant poverty, and domestic violence. The RCMP (who are the only law enforcement throughout rural Canada) are not allowed on these territories without expressed permission. A Constable can literally stand on the border of these lands, watch a man beat his "wife" to death, and can do absolutely nothing about it, unless the Territory Police, or Chief invite them to intervene. I am not making this up. Now, in the world of reality, what makes more sense? Yes, serial killers exist, and rural highways with random women are still the most common ground for such heinous crimes, but serial murder isn't what it once was like in the 80s & 90s thanks to DNA. Or? First Nations Rampant Domestic Violence issues and examples you cite so directly in a country that has many similarities to ours... G'Deh...

absolutely stunning speech. Yes, where are the feminists and human rights lawyers making a case for the treatment of Aboriginal woman and children under traditional law? Thank you for explaining so clearly the cultural practices which effect women so negatively..... your stories are so vivid. The Aboriginal communities cannot hide their atrocities towards women using traditional law , we live in the 21st Century... women have the "right" to equality in Australia.... we should all share in the benefits of this society. A cross cultural ambassador if I ever did see one... And feminist in the right spot .... where she is really needed. This is a very wise lady and a powerful voice for highlighting that Aboriginal society is not this ethereal ancient system of harmony some activists want you to imagine it to be.... Bad shit happens to women in many different cultures accross the world..... especially OLD cultures, which have always subjugated with violence... people today forget this is just a fact and not "racist"..... Murder, violence and rape should not be excused under any system... One law for all...

It could be just a myth, a modern fantasy narrative, that such thing as feminists and human rights lawyers exist. Perhaps they are stories based on past famous prototypes or perhaps those are also myths. Humans, female humans too, evolve myths to tell the stories of their ages long suppressed desires. Social forces, like media, collude with our wishes, we are no innocent bystanders here, put the names feminist, human rights lawyer etc on some of us. 'Where are they?' If they exist , where the money is. If there is money there, legal services, and they are not there, then...looks like don't exist! What muddled thinking allows the practice of these atrocities a Special Pass as 'customary law'? (though interesting to see now how muddled old Canada has the same crock.) A leftover from postmodernism pretending all 'culture's' 'laws' are equally equal and must be respected? UN Resolution 747 b ii says so. And so does the Australian Constitution, Section 5, para 21. And when they conflict? Well...um. What is most convenient for the lawmakers and those influencing them. Could the powers that ultimately be be trying to create a useful caste of drunken psychopaths? Could it be provoking group suicide by encouraging 'customary lore' amplified with modern treats???????????? I'm sorry, I'm just a confused throwback from unknown worlds, an alien that was born here and will die here and no one has ever wanted to listen to my voice, though I do suspect I am far from alone in that.

What an amazing woman. I wish her well and success. I'm a migrant to this country from El Salvador. Both of my great-grand mothers were indigenous women of Maya/Pipil ancestry. Sexual assault and violence was also common in their indigenous cultural experience, and sadly, it continues to be, often fueled by alcohol and also drugs. As a Christian man of both Spanish and Indigenous mixed ancestry, I have given my daughters the opportunity for independent thought, and encouraged a strong sense of belief in their own ability, despite any barriers they may encounter. However, I can see they are being influenced by the modern "social justice" narrative popular in today's social media. They seem to be more pre-occupied with "changing the date" than the wave of violence and disadvantage suffered by Aboriginal communities and Aboriginal people in our cities. There is a fear to discuss anything that may even sound like another "intervention". However, these issues need to be spoken about and brought out into the light, or change will never happen. It is not the popular way, it is painful, but people are suffering because not enough is being done about it. If Aboriginal men and women don't stand up for their own, noone will, because the "white fellas" are too afraid to do anything in fear of the "social justice warriors" threatening their political positions. Thank you Jacinta. May you continue to be an insperation to all Australians and I hope you'll be supported in your efforts.

All your speeches are so direct in highlighting the aboriginal cultural practices that lead to the violence you describe Undeniably, white Australia has been the cause of some aboriginal discrimination and traumas in the past. It's also in the vested interests of the Leftist/Communist/Militant Feminist professional victimhood community to perpetuate the dependency ideology so they can feather their own nests and line their own pockets at the expense of the aborigine. This is why Jacinta has received so much backlash from those quarters. They don't want the problems to be fixed because it would make their own and their cronies' job descriptions no longer valid. They act purely out of selfish ambition, seeing aboriginal victims of physical, sexual, economic, and psychological violence as a cash cow. May their greed be as ashes in their mouths.

Of all who support a NO voice. Jacinta has been the most impressive. She talks from the heart, and she what she experienced. Voting Yes will not improve the life of the sufferings souls, but it will create more bureaucracy, more power for from their ivory tower, and well made up, smartly clothed, well educated, and, gourmet fed aborigines(Thanks to the British) to exercise their will on the rest. The Aborigines are divided on this issue, those who belong to small clans will miss out. Can't the politicians, and good willed Yes voters see that? I am a firm NO voter, not because I am a racist, a stupid, a dinosaur, or have a bad heart, it is because I care about the lives of those aborigines that Jacinta is talking about, and I am intelligent. Bravo Jacinta. You are a gift to this Country.

Wow! 7 years later and this is still so relevant. Thank you, Jacinta. You are an amazing woman of strength and wisdom. May you be blessed as you help to bring about the changes needed, continuing on in this year 2023, especially now that the issue of the Referendum has been done and dusted. Now to get to the real issues and not have them pushed under the rug by the, what I call, the "Indigenous elite". Those who have no idea of the realities of remote Communities, yet want to speak for all Communities, while receiving all the glory and platitudes for their fake empathy. You are a woman who has attained a place of prominence in our Government and I thank you for that. One day, I hope to see you as the Prime Minister of our country, Australia! ❤🎉❤

I do hear you Jacinta. I am from Iran, a country that the government promotes violence mostly against women and children in the name of spirituality, morality and Islamic culture. Australia, please say NO to the Voice. Almost half a century ago, my people made quite the same mistake in my country. People said YES to constitutional change in favour of suppressed people and spirituality without knowing exactly what was going to change. And now, that change is the main source of my people miseries.

It is unbelievable that the Aboriginal women does not get any help against violent men in their communities! Of course the women should have help with this behaviour!!! It is the whole society of Australia that it should be equal responsibility for laws, and that all people in Australia should have the same help to sort out these Hugh problems!!!!! A very good speech of this women how it is today in their communities!!!!! It must change and quickly!!!!

Why can we not all be proud of our multicultural heritage, like Jacinta. Every culture brings something special to our communities and makes this country special, as long as we are all first and foremost, Australian. The benefits of modern facilities in our first word nation are available to everyone in this country, even more so to aboriginals. We are all willing to help those in need. The voice, makarrata, pay the rent etc. however, takes this way too far. Vote NO.

I am impressed. This video was made 7 years ago. 2016. Now 2023 and Australia voted against an aboriginal only voice to Parliament and enshrined into the constitution. We often think, why don't aboriginal people come into our modern Australia. This was eloquently answered at the end of this speech. We have a responsibility to hold out a hand to help, not the other way around. This was a reconciliation speech, that most politicians would not take the time to listen to.

With tears and a heavy heart, I thank you, for those girls and women who have suffered, I say we hear you, we see you, we care and we dont want the hurt to continue another generation.. i love the aspects of the aboriginal cultures, truly amazing, we could all learn so much, but this dark shadow has to change, harm has to stop. I also feel for the many boys and men who feel powerless to stop harm to their sisters, mothers aunts and daughters, it must be truly traumatic to witness and not be able to intervene. Change is hard, truth is painful but the only way forward. I was so fortunate to travel to remote locations and experience and meet so many different communities and towns, to meet younger fathers who want there daughters to know their culture and history, to be proud, now i know why many said, but my girl will never be promised, (not the word they used, the translation they gave). 25 yrs ago i did not understand, sadly i do now… We are one, and we are many, we should have the same rights to grow, learn, be safe and be protected from harm…

THESE are the kinds of courageous women of integrity that the Aboriginal community needs to be elevating, rather than the countless race-baiting grifters that only seek to stoke division, continually tearing at old wounds in the hope of further lining their own pockets.

As a women, who believes in universal human rights and opposes cultural relativism, I mostly agree with this talk, but I'm a little annoyed that she uses the term "white feminist" as an insult. The people she's talking about call themselves "intersectional" feminists and use "white feminist" as a slur against women who disagree with them. I understand that she's not using the term the same way. She just means feminists who are white, but even so our whiteness isn't the problem. The problem is the ideologies we're expected to believe in, specifically cultural relativism and intersectionality, which teach white women that they should put every concern under the sun ahead of the rights of women and that anything else is "white feminism". If white feminism means believing in universal human rights and rejecting cultural relativism, then I have no problem being a white feminist.

How can Australia not hear, applaud and react to this impressive woman, with massive unambiguous support? As an older white European (specifically a much-hated Englishman) I have no first-hand experience whatever of the Australian picture. I do however have experience of hypocritical, self-satisfied, white feminists who have an utterly skewed and irrational view of ‘good’ and ‘evil’. CIS, of course, which exclusively reserves its most enthusiastic applause for vacuous, but celebrated, Americans with the intellectual acuity of a goldfish, barely managed a grudging (and belated) ripple of applause. The utterly admirable Jacinta Price - who put forward a comprehensively well-argued case - MUST surely be listened to, acknowledged, and responded to thoughtfully for Australia to move forward in a positive and enlightened manner. Do not fall into the laissez-faire trap which British politicians have enthusiastically rushed into, and let defensive and misdirected “white guilt” deflect you from doing WHAT YOU KNOW TO BE RIGHT.
