The Untamed is my first Chinese drama and I am totally taken over by the story, the characters, the actors! Even though I am an American grandmother (with a background in Oriental Medicine, primarily acupuncture), this beautiful story drew me in. I find I dream at night about The Untamed! And the soundtrack is one of my favorites to listen to now. The actors playing the two main characters are incredibly attractive, with amazing chemistry. But I will admit this 73 year old grandmother feels most connected with Wang Yibo. I like his music and dancing, as well. Luckily, I have The Untamed dvd set. I will be watching and reliving this story again and again!
I'm so glad that you discovered the Untamed, and I hope it's not the last Chinese drama that you watch. I'm also so happy that you like Wang Yibo. It's easy to be a Wang Yibo fan regardless of your age! If you like his dancing, then you should check him out in the Street Dance of China. He does some freestyle battles in episode 2 that are pretty amazing.
I love your videos! Thank you for posting so many videos about the Untamed, it's wholesome. I started watching this show because of two words: "Soulmates" and "bromance". I had never watched any period fantasy dramas (cdramas, specially) so I was super scared to watch it but still decided to go ahead and try it since I really like Wang Yibo's group, Uniq. The first few episodes were really hard for me to understand and accept the world building (what is cultivation? how was he born again? I didn't understand the basics so it was hard to get used to it at first). What kept me interested were the strange relationships between the characters and the visuals (not only the actors haha the scenery and the whole aesthetic of the drama, specially at the Cloud Recesses!). I'm so glad i stuck to it because I not only discovered an amazing story with unforgettable characters, but a whole new genre of dramas. I read the novel and I loved it as well but I have to say I kind of prefer the ML's relationship in the drama, for the same reasons you've stated. Once again, thank you for your constant updates and amazing effort. I found your channel today by chance and I already subscribed^^

The Untamed is the first Cdrama in a long time that I really liked. After I watched it I've become a huge fan of Wang Yibo and have watched a lot of his old Uniq videos. He's such a good dancer! Uniq seemed like a really talented group with a lot of potential so it's sad that they were disbanded so early. I think Wang Yibo has a very bright future ahead of him though, I'm excited to see more of his work!

I just finished the drama a couple of days ago, I'm almost at the end of the novel, but I'm in withdrawal already. I think I'm gonna watch the sequels (doesn't matter if they're any good) and then start watching it again. It's so addictive and emotionally wrecking
@@dramaobsession6619 The Living Dead, I'd say it's mediocre. I only watched because it was with Wen Ning. Half of the time it focuses on the story of another family. 5/10 Fatal Journey was much better. Apart from a really ridiculous fight scene, I enjoyed it. It managed to capture the relationship between the Nie brothers. 8/10.
It's true. Once you get hooked up with these 2 main lead, there's no going back. But I need more romance between LZ & WY so I might give the novel a try. Thanks for the video. Really liked it.

Hiii I just found this video because I just started watching The Untamed and I really like it but I'm very confused! It's my first drama of this sort and 4 episodes in I still have no idea who's who or what's going on! Would you consider maybe making a plot summary? Or could you point me towards any good episode guides that would help summarise the episodes for me after I watch them?? I think my ADHD brain just isn't paying enough attention even though I really want to :')

I absolutely adore this show. And honestly love it all for the same reasons you had pointed out in the video. Another thing I loved about it was the beautiful OST, and the fact that Xiao Zhan and Wang Yibo themselves sung Wangxian or wuji. It's such a catchy song and it really made the drama feel so special.
The story is fantastic about loyalty friendship for the two character and how they sacrifice each other. And later on I watched in yourube on how the story goes on , interpretation , the true feelings of WangXian and i cannot get over it 😁 i love this drama ❤️ The Untamed .
I'm one of those pipz who are so obsessed with this drama right now and what really makes me frustrated is that I have no one to talk to with this obsession. lol. My siblings and I do share the same hobbies and taste but when I recommended them to watch The Untamed they steer away from it because (1) they're not used to hearing chinese (we do watch a lot of kdramas) (2) they saw me watching one ep before and they pointed out the cgi being bad. I couldn't agree more because that's what I thought so too also that's why I steered away from it before, and I actually don't like how they dubbed the voices because it really seemed artificial. But that was before tho. What made me like the show is because of the plot. I've read a lot of commentaries and snippets of the novel and I found Lan Zhan and Wei Ying's love story very intriguing, and after watching the show I found it painfully beautiful. I've first encountered the manhwa before but it is still ongoing and I couldn't get into the mood reading the novel that's why I started watching TU (also because of Yibo, I was once a fan of UNIQ but they're inactive rn, so...) But well, I really wanted to share this splendid story so I started paying my brother a few pennies per episode (he's at Ep 6 now ahahahahah) and my sister do like reading BL/Yaoi so she said she's gonna read the novel. She really can't take the overreaction of the fight scenes, the Chinese (no hate, it's just that she said her head aches hearing them talk), and the bad cgi effects so she'll read the novel instead ahahahaha They kinda gave up to my constant nagging and all I do everyday is talk and talk and talk about how addicting and beautiful The Untamed is. Yeah, all is well, see my siblings soon joining this fandom, I guess? ahahahahhaha
I totally understand about not having anyone to talk to. Honestly that was one of the reasons I started this channel. Most of my friends don't watch Chinese dramas. I was trying to get my mom into it but she couldn't for some reason. I did get one friend who NEVER watched Chinese dramas into it - I told her to start watching from Ep 2 around minute 38 when the flashback begins - that skips over the bad CGI and bad acting in episode one LOL. She became totally hooked even though she didn't understand a word of Chinese and then she got her mom hooked too LOL. ☺

@@dramaobsession6619 Idk, even tho they my brother might dislike it due to the cgi, I couldn't bring myself to let them skip any part of the drama. But we had a deal tho, I can only pay him up until episode 25. If he'll continue watching, then good. But if he couldn't, then that would mean that he didn't like it and pushing him to continue would only hurt my wallet ahahahaha. But knowing my brother, I doubt he will stop with ep 25. That's where the events starts to get spicy afterall.

I agree with your 2nd point.The production team is very smart the intense friendship between WangXian gives more feels compared to if a romantic relationship would have shown between them
I really appreciate your reviews; thank you. What got me hooked was not only the relationship between the two main characters but the very clever plot twist using the least likely suspect - genius! I often wondered what symbolism or significance is attached to the headpieces worn by the Lan clan in particular. We see them become more elaborate as the drama progresses and I wondered if you might be able to provide insight on their meanings, if any. Again, thank you for helping us all fall more in love with The Untamed.
The story is just incredible, but the visuals are even more insane! I fell in love with the characters and the tragedies are just too much! So rich overall.
Honestly Asian dramas are really good at getting you on an emotional level and having characters that tug at the heartstrings. I rarely feel this way about Western dramas (which tend to be good for many other reasons).

It is very addicting. Most cast members are fairly new actors and actresses. They certainly did an outstanding job! And I agree with you with the CGI. But that did not dissuade me from watching because the plot is very good👍🏼👍🏼!
So true! The first two episodes was that so confusing that I thought about dropping it, but thankfully I insisted for a while. Have you seen the 20-episodes cut? There is this special edition that is shorter and I was wondering if it will be a good ideia to recommend this version instead of a original one, which is longer. Even if it is a great show, not everyone is fully open to start a 50 episodes drama.
I haven't watched all of the 20 episode cut, just a few episodes here and there. I don't know if it tells the story fully and completely, but I totally agree that even if it leaves some bits out, it's still probably easier to digest than the full 50 episodes! Good point!
I was actually glad to have started with the full 50 episodes of the drama. The 20 episodes is a very compressed version with some added scenes which focuses on the relationship between Lan Zhan and Wei Ying. Many main scenes and important parts of the story were omitted that, for a first timer or someone who had not read the novel would be left with even more questions! At first I hesitated to start with the 50 episodes, but once you get into it, you wouldn't want it to end. And it went by so quickly for me because I was hooked! No regrets though! 😆 Love the series!❤️
That's great! It's like - when I really like something I almost want to acknowledge the bad stuff first so that other people can't criticize it for that reason.

I finished the drama a few weeks ago and I was so disappointed with the end that I had to read the book to know what was the issue and now I'm obsessed with this drama and characters. I think the drama was a faithful adaptation but I was frustrated the whole thing cause censorship is sexy in China...
