For nothing else...but a clear conscience.
I'm back with another CQL video! I wanted to explore two points of view. First of all, Wei Wuxian (Wei Ying) as a steadfast man and unreliable narrator who was both so pragmatically altruistic that he allowed his life to only revolve around others, and so proudly blind to politics that he made himself an easy target and failed to defend his life. Then, I filled in the blanks of the story with Lan Wangji's (Lan Zhan) constant internal conflict of deciding between "right" and "wrong" while slowly crumbling under his strict clan's responsibilities, all the while trying (and failing due to his inability to break rules) to save Wei Wuxian from his death. Following Wei Wuxian's resurrection sixteen years later, the roles have reversed, and it's Lan Wangji's regret-fueled devotion and decisiveness that drive Wei Wuxian to finally find his place in the hateful, hypocritical, political world that wrongfully vilified him.
