Jiang Cheng’s name meaning though, it fits exactly in with the song. Jiang Cheng, apparently derived from a scenic poem. It’s a poem where the sky is cloudy, there’s a fog coming out from beneath the trees in a deep forest, making the trees blurry and misty, but there is a crystal clear untouched river and in that river is the reflection of autumn, which might be why autumn is spoken about frequently in his character song, And then Jiang Wanyin, which means to wake from a nightmare late in the night, with no one around to talk or console you

I can't pick a favorite for any of the MDZS/Untamed contents. It is all a master piece and I love it all so much. Even though I have finished every adaptation and original work, I can't get enough. I love all the fan made animatic's that are so beautifully done. Gosh I can't even.

Since you liked the Yi city song so much I HIGHLY recommend you to watch the live performance, in this version Li Bowen (Song Lan) actually sings with Chen Zhuoxuan (A.Qing) and on top on that Song Jiyang (Xingchen) dances so beautifully.
Omggggg I remember a behind the scenes video where Song Jiyang kept saying his dancing wasn't very good and was average at best and then I watched that performance and it looked like he'd been dancing for years. He's so elegant and beautiful when he dances oml.

I usually don't cry with anime or donghua/series -- it takes a certain something to trigger me, but Yanli's song nearly got me misty-eyed! Hahaha!! I'll have more to say later, but I wanted to express my love for Xue Yang's character song first! I absolutely love that Zhou Shen sang it (if you're interested in more of his music, I recommend Time to Say Goodbye, Ring the Doorbell to Listen to It Myself, Dalabengba, and many others). His voice is one of a kind, and it makes the lyrics of this song feel like they're simultaneously coming from the child XY and the man. It hurts that much more. The way that this song was about XY's "regret" over the events of Yi City KILLS me. T_T Xue Yang is my favorite character, but before listening to this song I didn't think much of him. Yes, I cried during the Yi City arc, but it wasn't my favorite. And then I listened to this and realized how much depth there was to XY's character. Then I became a Yi City fanatic. The "If I got rid of these inner demons, would you forgive me?" absolutely murders me. Literally makes me cry every time. I love this piece so much that I learned how to play it on piano and performed it in my recital haha. Both gorgeous and depressing. I'm so glad you enjoyed it too!

(Reupload from Patreon) I SEE MY NAME HAHAHAHA I'm listening and singing along as I work on a fanart for Yanli's birthday on May 2. This is really nice. Whenever I hear Wuji, I can NEVER stop myself from singing along😂 I just love it so much! Yibo and Zhan were actually members of their own respective boybands, for those who don't know. Yibo was part of a Kpop group called "Uniq", and Zhan's Cpop group was "XNINE". They both have varying voices, Zhan’s being more for Ballads, and Yibo’s is more for Pop. But the way they miced here was BEAUTIFUL. Their songs are very telling of their characters. Literally a reflection of them. Wuxian's is fun and sort of upbeat with a hint of loneliness in between. The tune is carefree and free-spirited, as it is guided by the tune of a flute and accompanied by a Chinese Opera singer. Not sure if it's a Peking Opera singer or something else, though. Wangji's is melancholic. It's calm but it's mournful and broken and lost and it just encompasses his character and his yearning as a whole. Yes, they have different accents due to their dialects, so some words will be pronounced differently. Qing's song sounds like she's lamenting hers and the Wens' lives. And yeah, it does kind of summarize her life in the story. As for Ning, the tune is so gentle and serene. It also has that hint of being lost along the way with how the tone of the lyrics go. Marius' voice is just BEAUTIFUL. If you look at his Ig? He sings a lot on those, and more often than not, he's acting out the song as if it were a stageplay. Cheng's really is sad, it embodies his entire feeling of hating the way that things were and how they had to go. It's just really a summary of the pain he had to endure all throughout the story. And that's the thing about C-drama OSTs! They SUMMARIZE a story, they summarize a character into a song. Because in ancient China, stories were told through short poems and always sung to a crowd, usually in Opera houses. And you will actually see this reference when you get to SVSSS, so please, take note of that. Oh no...OH NO, YI NAN PING😭 I did not want to cry while doing my work but here we are. I AM BAWLING, SAVE ME😭 I won't bother to explain this one cause this one just mkaes me cry evreytime😭 and then TO ADD ZIXUAN AND YANLI'S DUET AFTER? Nuh-un m-mm not doing that😭 The Yi City songs are all just lamentations, in my opinion. They were sad, but they didn't make me cry as much as Yi Nan Ping and Eternal Farewell did. Lonely City was my favorite out of those tho. :3 The Juniors song was upbeat, and it embodied their adventurous nature, and it shows the youthfulness in them. At the same time there were low tones in the song that felt like they were disheartened or unsure, and that was a nice touch. Kinda sad they didn't put Zizhen in there-why is my boi always left out😭 Qing He Jue was mainly Huaisang mourning his brother and just a requiem for his brother. This is another tear-jerker for me, I just love the Nie brothers so much😭 Xichen's song is awfully sad and if you listen closely, it almost is reminiscent of Wangji's own? Except with Xichen's, there's no happy ending to the song-and that's because Xichen lost so much and never got anything in return. Yao's is hard and melancholically upbeat. And it's almost an embodiment of his two-faced nature. The lyrics are terrifyingly tragic, but the beat is fast and energetic. A positive hiding the negative, almost-if you didn't know what the song meant, "you'd just say, aw heck yeah! Fun party song". But my top 5 is this: Wu Ji, Qu Jin Chen Qing, Yi Nan Ping, Bu Wang, Hen Bie I can't wait for next week's upload! I'm so pumped but also sad that we're going through these, cause we'll soon get to the end😭 but WE'RE NOT THERE YET😤 thank you again for these, Miss Romania! So excited for more🥰

Wow, I hadn't heard a lot of these songs before, and it’s surprising how emotional they are, though I shouldn’t have expected anything less from the untamed. Yanli and Zixuan’s song definitely had me the most emotional though, singing about how they wanted to grow old together but instead their time was so brief. I think my fav is probably Yanli’s solo though, probably because they used it so much in the show already, since they didn’t just play it for her death but the instrumental is also used for pretty much every yunmeng trio scene in the show. So if you ever decide to rewatch the show, good luck watching those scenes without being reminded of her upcoming demise. I also didn’t expect to enjoy the junior’s song as much as I did. You’re right, their voices all sound so nice together. Obviously I thought Xichen’s was also great, but I’m not sure how I feel about Yao’s. The lyrics are fine but he seems like a weird character to give a rap verse to lol. I think a softer ballad would have suited him more. Yeah a lot of the cast have musical backgrounds, Wang Yibo got his start in a kpop group, Xiao Zhan was also in a boy group I think, and Liu Haikuan is also a singer and I think he even writes some of his own songs (he also did a cover of wuji not that long ago). Also, some of these songs have ‘music videos’ that go along with them (they’re mostly just edits of the show). I say this because Xichen’s is basically edited to look like a xiyao fan vid. My fav vocalist if tubs is actually cao Yu Chen (Jin zixuan) but i freakin adore fanxing. Li bowen is also precious especially in the episode where they played a game and he and to get the answer to unlock the lock but he did not know how many chicken lanzhan stole 😂😂😂 i still hear him say "how many chicken"

In case you don't know it yet, Yanli's name, 厌离, means Hating Separation, which is the name of Jiang Cheng's song, 恨别. They are different in Chinese characters, but exactly the same meaning.

If you love Yi city song, than I would recommend to watch the live performance from Nanjin The Untamed concert. It´s even better there and the male lead there is sang by Li Bowen, the actor of Song Lan. After hearing that I was like "WHY? Why in the heavens haven´t they recorded this song with him?!?!!! He has amazing voice and harmonized even better with Chen Zhuoxuan, who is indeed A-Qing´s actress. She is an amazing singer. I recommend to watch her live performance of Wu Ji 😍 Gave me goosbumbs.
well it's my first time listening to character songs beside wangji, wuxian and yanli's songs so the moment yao's song starts that rap I was also like "did I open the wrong vid" my 5 tops would be: Wu Ji, Qu Jin Chen Qing, Bu Wang, Yi Nan Ping and the junior one
