@Onyeka Onyebuchukwu We Africans don't see each other as one ethnicity just because we share skin colour, we are more nuanced than that. Africans enslaving africans is a ridiculous attempt at oversimplification that can easily be dismissed. The same way people don't say Europeans enslaving other Europeans, why would they, they get specific. They talk about the Vikings enslaving others who were not one of them, they talk about Roman's enslaving non Roman's, Greeks enslaving non Greeks, should I go on... All those groups are Europeans enslaving each other but people make sure to distinguish between rival and ethnic groups, but when it comes to Africa ethnicity just falls away and we become some homogenous ethnic group that never existed. If you are going to use such broad terminology be consistent with it. Talk about Europeans enslaving other Europeans, Africans enslaving other Africans, and Asians enslaving other Asians. Don't just use such terminology to make it specific to one continent. I have no hatred for my fellow africans but there is no harm in me recognizing that my ethnic group is distinct from other African ethnic groups, it's how our ancestors identified themselves and it's how we still identify ourselves for the most part.

I had an African American friend who was so mad with Africans in America because we sold their parents as slaves. The Osus were sold to Europeans and rich Diala alike. Onyeka is right. This is what these people feel towards us. And to think that we blacks are fighting everyday to be treated fairly as Whites but we still discriminate against our own people is disheartening and makes me sick to my stomach!

It was shocking cos what I saw she destroyed things from 8pm -3:30 am terrorized us with a knife , we kept running from her for our dear lives cos she said all night she was going to kill someone. This is one of the talks I listen to and I begin to question the sanity of the speaker. To use Demeaning statements on the principles of our ancestors which was the other of the day is actually borne out of ignorance. Also, to say that UN has the power to resolve the precepts of the ancestors is another need to check our stability. We need to understand the intricacies and permutations of these practices before ranting about it.
@fistandpen2505
@fistandpen2505 5 месяцев назад
The principles of your ancestors which was the "order of the day" can never be wrong or worth evolving? In the day of the 4th industrial revolution when Igbo as much as any other community needs to marshal its human and collective resources to address problems and advance Igboland, Nigeria and the rest of humanity ahead you're talking about permutations of practice. Well your political leaders (Zik and co) illegalized Osu, your traditional rulers including Eze Nri abolished it culturally/spiritually, and Igbo catholic bishops abolished it as practice as well. Igbos are probably 90% catholic and somehow we have this supremely backward tradition in some corners. Meanwhile the same "cursed" Osu are doctors, lawyers and some even leading Nigerian figures in Nigeria and abroad. Get serious about serious things my friend.
