Owen Lars might not be the most immediately recognizable "Star Wars" character, but you can't argue that he isn't an indispensable part of the franchise. After all, as the man who raised Luke Skywalker, you could make a compelling case that he's the reason the Empire eventually crumbles and that Rey, as a student of Luke's, eventually defeats the Emperor. Sure, Owen might have just been a humble moisture farmer on Tatooine, but the things he taught Luke and the quiet, humble life he led may have saved the galaxy, if you shift your perspective. It’s always weird when u watch a new hope and Luke doesn’t shed a tear for his Aunt and Uncle that raised him when him and Obi found them cooked.

In the Return Of the Jedi novelization Obi wan mentions that Owen is his brother when he speaks with Luke after Yoda dies.

Or Lars just doesn't want Luke to become a battle-fighting, Tusken-child slaying space wizard and get himself killed. I doubt that a dude who met Anakin once and knows little about him outside of what Shmi told him, has deduced that Anakin is Vader.

Might have been his step uncle, but whilst Vader was his father Owen was his Daddy and provided a safe home for him and raised him well.

In the original Star Wars novelization, Owen Lars was Kenobi's estranged brother. It made sense to entrust the orphaned Luke to Kenobi's brother.

So many people keep thinking Anakin being the Chosen One that brings balance to the force is meant to end the Sith threat. But that's not balance. Reducing the numbers of Jedi/Light Side force user to equal that of the Sith/Dark Side force users is actual balance.

Well, not quite. It's not very clear what balance in the Force actually means, most especially in the current canon. But George Lucas' idea of balance was always the destruction of the Sith, (or more specifically, the complete eradication of the Dark Side as a whole) since the Dark Side is nothing but twisted and disoriented, along with the embrace of pain, anger, envy, and passion; not to mention the constant thrive for power and control over everything. The Sith seek to live forever, most of the time they achieve this through unnatural means, they're so afraid of what will happen to them after death, since they have no control over what happens to them when they die and pass onto the realm of the cosmic Force, or the Chaos realm (Star Wars hell) since they cannot become a Force Ghost due to their alliance with the Dark Side.

Why did Vader have owen killed if he was like family? Plus from what I’ve seen in the obi series, he hates the Jedi as well, assuming from what happended to anikan.

Luke is at two different stages in life Kenobi and A New Hope. A ten-year-old wants stability and security. A 19-year-old boy wants adventure and excitement. So, of course, the relationship between the two is different.

I'm not fit to velcro George Lucas trainers/sneakers but I would rather had uncle Owen as Anakins half brother Anakins father being the force but uncle Owens still being Cleeg and Beru being a close friend to Anakin and a girlfriend to Owen it just makes the decision to send Luke to uncle Owen in episode 3 more reasonable keep episode 2 the same but Owen follows Anakin to save Shmi and seeing him murder all the tuskens with the power of the force would be a reason he wouldn't want Luke to be trained as he could see what power in the wrong hands could do (not saying the tuskens deserved mercy) also the death of shmi could be a reason he'd resent Obi wan and the Jedi for taking his brother on an idealistic crusade when he could've been at home protecting his family
