The Unused Content of Plants vs. Zombies 2 

Even though I would have hated it, I support the idea of a dark ages expansion/extra stage epic quest, simply because I want to see more levels to dark ages, 20 just won’t cut it!!

I miss Zen garden where you plant just to plant, not for a boost to use in the game, simply a plant. You water it, apply fertiliser and apply pesticides. And different scenes, I remember each of them cost a fortune to unlock! Woah, and the Tree of Wisdom also. So nostalgic.

Some info about a few unused plants in this video: Mini Peashooter (from what I remember) is the same as a peashooter, but for its plant food, it covers the entire lawn (that isn’t already occupied) with clones of itself. Burnade has the same sprite as the Iceberg Lettuce, and might’ve been one of the most overpowered plants in the game if fully added. From what I remember, it explodes about 3 times, in a 3x3 area.

I’m sad scaredy shroom never returned. He was neat, not the most powerful, or unique, but was pretty adorable Edit: welp, he’s back. Though his redesign is pretty weird. Since puff and fume, hypno, sun and magnet shroom barley changed, and scaredy looks different compared to his older model. And if course he’s a plant you have to try and unlock through non normal means. Pretty sure sea shroom is next to return, since there are videos showing his unfinished state.

I believe that originally, they planned to have gravestones in all worlds, that's why the Grave Buster is always selectable in any world, even if that world has no gravestones on it, unless it's a Last Stand level.

Interestingly, the Castlehead Zombie has shown up in a couple ads over the years, most recently for a Dark Ages themed Penny’s Pursuit where it’s just slapped onto an image with some other zombies sprites

2:50 just to add to the unused scardy shroom, there were also beta versions of both puff shroom and sun shroom, basically using the pvz 1 sprites and identically the same as said game

Correction: Modern Day was not originally going to have zombies from every world like it does in the final game. That mechanic was originally intended for Time Twister, however during development Time Twister and Modern Day were merged.

Honestly when barrel zombie is added into mods he looks so weird They definitely had a different plan for him maybe in that theater section in dark ages the Chinese version has He'd be like a crazed Shakespeare guy

Those extra gravestones and minecarts could have been intended to appear in an event or pinata level, like having some of them take place in different times with those features so it wouldn't just be the egypt and modern day graves and the only minecart in the game

I think if they released a dark ages expansion they would also release expansions for the rest of the worlds that don't have expansions.

The funny thing about this is as of this comment, the Scaredy shroom isn’t considered a scrapped PVZ 2 plant and was newly re-added to he game by using seed packets.

honestly, not making Marigold a plant you can use in levels i think was a good call since she was...pretty much useless in the 1st game especially with how late she was obtained

I remembered before that I'm so excited for the Time Twister as the final world only to be devastated by it to turned into an online mode

1:43 there are also gravestones for Mixtape tour thing and Jurassic marsh There are ALSO more unused zombies For dark ages: Dark_dravedropper When he reached a plant, he would slam it with a tombstone and spawn one and he also did have a armor of a gravestone dark_knight A buckethead with the same ability of the parasol, Like a upgrade of blacksmith Dark_blacksmith A dark king but even more weak at some point, his anvil would break and act like a common zombie imp variants conehead, buckethead and crown There would be armor variants for dark ages imp, but went unused Dark_wizard Before, he would shoot a ball which dealed damage if im not wrong Lost city: lostcity_totem_dropper It drops a totem, if the totem stacks to 3 a egypt explorer spawned (most likely a placeholder) but got deleted some differences from some updates Before far future update, Future garg was more smaller There wasnt a peasant knighthead, king zombie and jester zombie before 1.6.2 of pvz2 There are also unknow grids, called futurespaceshift And futureclone The first isnt know what could've made The second, maybe cloned zombies, but also is unknow

There's an unused map of Far Future in old map style hidden in 1.5 files

The Mini Peashooter has two main differences from a regular Peashooter. 1. It's weaker and costs less and 2. It's power up is to clone itself one tie ahead

The burnade accually had a sprite which was the iceberg lettuce's sprite but yk it was removed

The mtv parody was probably not added for copyright reasons, keep in mind, they got sued for Michael Jackson zombie in pvz1

there's also an unused theme meant for Pirate Seas composed by the original PVZ composer Laura and the plant "Beet" from PVZ Adventures was meant to return same with the Adventures version of Bamboo shot (tho functionally it's just an early Banana Launcher)

Power Lily has a hidden plant food ability and Imitater has a zen garden animation

I love how PvZ Reflourished brings back some of these like the barrel zombie and such

Burnade actually uses iceburg lettuces sprites. Heres the stats (levels do nothing to unused plants) BURNADE Sun Cost: 0 Recharge: Sluggish Ability: Sends a zombie back to the beginning of the lawn, and shortly explodes doing the same damage as the zombie it killed. Plant food: Allows burnade to use his ability 3 times before dissapearing. MINIPEASHOOTER Sun Cost: 25 Recharge: Fast Ability: Shoots peas, they take 25 shots to kill a basic zombie. (Normal peas take 10) Plant Food: Duplicates more minipeashooters in its own lane, or, if space is availible, the entire lawn?? (Its inconsistant) They are both usable using hacks. Ill post a vid soon.

They could add some of these unused zombies, plants, music, etc. In a new world with world map pieces to indicate what world they will be going to.

I would have liked Scaredy Shroom since he is my second favorite plant while Ice Shroom is my favorite. Although the future music was cool too and has a lot of the final sound affects. Pretty cool.

if you use a special obb you can get most of these cut things, like dark_wizard_veteran zombie.

There’s a cut song I believe for Pirate Seas developed by the same composer for the entirety of the PVZ1 soundtrack and the Ancient Egypt. You can find it on her channel.

Came back to this vid in 2023 with the current version of PvZ2... looks like Scaredy-Shroom isn't a shelved project anymore.

I don't like how you didn't add the plant food effect of the other plants, like if you plant fooded burnade, it would've been usable 3 times instead of 1. Zoom-shroom also would pull every zombie to it's lane if plant fooded. either way, nice vid.

i dont exactly remember where, but i remember hearing that the reason DA is so empty compared to the other worlds is that a lot of the team at popcap left mid development

The Ztv flag should be a rare Easter egg variation of the neon mixtape tour flag zombie that would just be really rare kinda like the in the original game a zombie would occasionally wave its hand in the air after dying

I noticed that the scrapped BFN iceberg lettuce uses the Chinesse exclusive ice chain plant's design instead of the actual iceberg lettuce

I remember when I was a kid clicking that one dimension rift thingy at the end of the worlds and it doing nothing.

I think it would be cool if their was a farm based world with zombies holding pitchforks and farm animals helping the zombies like the dinosaurs in jurassic marsh

if i had to guess i would assume that a good theory for why scaredy shroom wasnt added in pvz 2 is because in dark ages sun production is easier than pvz 1 night levels and since the jester zombie exists it would make no since to added scaredy shroom especially when the dark ages chapter was only 20 levels and there where alot of other useable plants such as peashooter and cabbage pult and repeater and laser bean and bloomerang just to name a few and also we are forgetting that puff shroom and laser bean and non projectile plants where required in dark ages because of the jester zombie and theres also the wizard zombie which is just a weaker version of the #1 Voted Most Annoying Zombie and also dark ages as a whole is just a weird chapter in terms of balance since the chapter is actually easy with the right setup and since the jester zombie can force players the alter there entire setup all just because of him and puff shroom and laser bean are good in this the scaredy shroom wouldnt have any where to be in, in terms of balance and in other levels the scaredy shroom would just be a cheaper and weaker peashooter and this is assuming that the scaredy shroom is cheaper and that it still has the hiding mechanic and since the scaredy shroom doesnt make sense for dark ages and plants vs zombies 2 meta and balance then i think that the scaredy shroom would not be that good and since most pvz 2 players dont even use peashooters anymore now since the game now has a level up system for plants and theres alot of premium plants and plants unlockable via and during arena tournament seasons but around the time dark ages was released there where already the far future and wild west and pirate seas and ancient Egypt there where already alot of good plants also the Chinese version of pvz2 dark ages had a jousting zombie that had a horse and it was a knight zombie on a horse that worked like the zombie bull or rodeo legend zombie except that the jousting zombie would launch it self all the way to the end of your lawn right next to your lawnmower and it was a knight zombie and the zombie would leave its sword in the ground where ever the horse launched him at and the sword would act like the same way that the surf board dropped by the surfer zombie in big wave beach does and this would mean that there would be a knight zombie right next to lawnmower or end of lawn (if they used there lawnmower) and a horse zombie and a sword stuck in the ground all for the player to deal with meaning that if it where in the game and it was also in the games Chinese version then it would be very weak of a plant Also Another Thing, The Scaredy Shroom Appeared In Plants VS Zombies All Stars which was also a Chinese Exclusive plants vs zombies game scaredy shroom also appears in plants vs zombies adventures and garden warfare 1 and garden warfare 2 and battle for NeighbourVille i think

The unused music should have been in the infinite modes

i remember scaredy shroom in the pvz 1, it was used as a long range like a peashooter, but like pvz2 cactus, is scared when a zombie comes close

i still remember last time u need to complete every world lvl 8 to get a world key then they changed it to just ancient Egypt with all keys unlocked but now u need to kill every world zomboss before moving to the next

now the castlehead is in pvz2 arena in the aqua vine event

some mods like the reflourished mod have some unused stuff added back, like the castle-head zombie

I have the 2r sun minipeashooter. I hacked the game into thinking that i had unlocked everything, and it gave me that. I also had a plant called Burnade, i think it would be like an iceberg lettuce crossed with hurrikale. The minipeashooter is very strange in the way it behaves

when i first played pvz2, it had the scrapped tutorial level sadly when I revisited it and reset the game, it was lost in history

For graves they might’ve just had something like the ancient Egypt graves And for the mine-carts there might of been mine-carts in other levels or mini-games I assume the Z-TV flag wasn’t added to avoid copyright And the cleo petra zombie might not have been added due to her ability to summon zombies being a little hard for the first level (okay im VERY wrong about that) or people might’ve gotten a little uncomfortable for killing a part pf ancient history

Scaredy shroom could work similar to cactus but instead of dps when a zombies is close he will hide becoming a defensive plant.

There's also an unused version of Pirate Seas shown in one of the Crazy Dave Transmission videos that released before the game came out. Laura Shigihara released the track on her RU-vid channel 2-3 years ago

Y’all where did the expansions for the worlds that did get them go? I just can’t find them where are they? They aren’t after the boss fight anymore, I’m so confused please help.

They should've added the dark ages expansion, along with the new zombies. Dark ages is one of the shortest worlds and its a cool world so it needs more levels to be as long as other worlds

I ain’t kidding but I remember finding a hacked version of PvZ2 and it was completely hacked with infinite currency but also there was plants that were usable (unused plants) but they didn’t work or acted like a normal version of the plant
