Pete I have a question for the community. What are the chances of starting a game and spawning with a bonus? We know placement is random but does SMG do anything to prevent this from happening? For simplicity, let's assume 5 players on Classic

I can only speak from my own experience, 0%. I've never spawned with a bonus even on maps with bonuses of +1 or +2 with very few territories

I might be misremembering but I might have remembered seeing that once a while ago with an Australia blizzard but idk if that actually happened

same here , i got a few spawn bonuses but that's only with blizzards. small sample size only played less that year , few hundo games under my belt.

I have over 6,000 games played and not once was I gifted a spawn bonus, even with blizzards

It is only possible with blizzards on and is still incredibly rare. Without blizzards it is impossible to spawn with a bonus.
