Played live and recorded with a GS mini, then financial occurrences made me sell my spruce one and then further down the line my mahogany one....I'm a stupid stupid man ... and I miss them, my couch even misses them ..
I'm 6'2" and I love my GS Mini Koa Plus. I gig with it and since I play both guitar and keyboards, my spot on stage is a bit crowded. I feel like a Mini gives me a bit more clearance in my space on the stage.
Oh man... I haven't had a jones for an acoustic since 2018, but that GT maple with the aged top, WOW! Baxter... your wife had your kids. She deserves the guitar she wants. Just sayin' Nice jam y'all. That was fun!
Beautiful! I’m really more of a Martin fan although I love all American made guitars ( Acoustic as well as electric ). These things must be a fantastic couch guitar and as tempting as these maybe I’m most probably still going to go with the 12 fret Martin 000-15SM ( not sure if that number’s right? But the one that’s the 12 fret w/mahogany back and sides with the slotted headstock 🤙 I think for around 1,700 that’s a,pretty good ‘Bang for the buck’ guitar and especially since I don’t own a 12 fret yet. Really dig the show you two, I watch it practically daily, thanks for all the great information you guys share with us!
But Taylor is virtually the only competitor, in the history of their company, that has forced them to completely revisit and rethink everything they do…… You like your Martin because of Taylor’s uncredited influence……
7-25-23 Taylor has the Sapele GS Mini on sale at this time for $500 minus the EZ Go pickup which is $100 more and install it yourself in 10 minutes if you want or need a pickup. No it's not a top of the line pickup but perfectly good for home playing or even busking. GREAT deal.
the taylor gt is way over 3000 € here in germany. i totally wouldn’t gig with that. the gs mini goes with me literally anywhere, practice, rehearsal, living rooms, pub gigs, busking, absolutely anywhere.
The GT new is extortionate here in the UK. There is no way you getting good value for money. You can buy a host of boutique shot built UK guitars for around 2k used in pristine condition. The GS mini is good value for money the GT is not!
I have a GS Mini-e Koa Plus with a shaded burst finish, and I couldn't be happier. I've got it strung up with 13's and it sounds great. It can be a bit smaller for my over 6' friends, but I'm very comfortable with it. I use it mostly for chord work and rarely stray above the 10th fret, so I don't find it difficult to maneuver.
One of the best guitars I own was a GS mini perfect couch Guitar you can leave it around and not worry about it too much , It sounds a whole lot bigger than what it is
I'll say it again here. A "GOOD" guitar has always been about a month's salary for the average American. The eastman stuff is good, but it's not a Taylor or Martin. I use this one on my kids all the time. Totally Cringeworthy, it makes them fold up like a cheap tent every time. Use with Caution. #DabMasterYeetBro!
I have the 811E Great guitar , that sounds good with good bass response With the new bracing... Song writer studio guitar from heaven.. I prefer a deadnought for live use , but the 811E sounds good also live... Dosent really compare to the GS mini at all to me.. maybe body size is the only thing close in common..
I’m a definitely a Taylor guy I own a 224 koa and is the best guitar I ever owned..that being said I also own a Alvarez in the size of the baby Taylor please do us a favor and compare the Alvarez with the Taylor you will not be disappointed the Alvarez is a real bang for your buck
1/2/23. Just watched this the other day. Took your advice. I went out and picked up a gt on clearance for 1399. Got the Koa gs for the 299 add on. Got both for about the same as the gt retail. Playing the gt and its great. Koa gs, I'm not sure if I'll keep or sell it in the box yet. Great channel guys. Baxter, you pay for ambience. $8 for a pbr in the right dive. Worth every penny.
For an all solid smaller bodied guitar, how do you guys think the Martin Dreadnought Jr. compares to the Taylor GT? I've had a Martin DJr.e. for about three years and am a big fan of it but haven't had the chance to try any of the GTs yet. Cool outro jam as well, would be good to have these included more often.
Very good review! I just bought a GS Mini and wasn't sure how it would compare to my Alvarez Mahogany guitar. The more I play it the more I like it. It has a really big sound for its size.
Same with me. I pick up the GS Mini before any other guitar. Mine is an older spruce top. I bought it for $350 mint used. Greatest achievement of Taylor for the money.
Love the neck changes, body should have kept the body size and shape the same w solid woods … the body is what makes it so comfortable… great to see you playing together… great video
I had a GS Mini and so badly wanted to love it, but I just couldn't get used to the 24" scale length. It was beautiful both visually and sonicly. My eyes and ears said yes, but my hands said no.
wild... came out in 2010... under $500... you could find them used for $300-$350 all day everyday... now they are $899.... and this grand theatre is $1500 plus... LOL LOL Bartender: that will be $8 for a pbr Baxter: That's ridiculous Baxter: $1500-$1600 for a gs mini style guitar.... perfectly acceptable !!!
I had a nice Taylor 317e (USA), picked it up used for a great price, sadly it had that odd 'note resonance' issue on the low G. GC was able to hook me up thankfully. I ended up picking up a Taylor Academy 10e (MIM)...holy crap, this guitar plays itself. Amazing sounding acoustically, great feeling, easy to play, and for the price nothing came close. To me it sounded better than guitars in the $1500 price range.
