If Zealand is losing his mind here, Maqwell is going to be an absolute apoplectic ball of boggle-eyed, incandescent rage and nervous collapse. And, as such, I can't wait to see it.
I spam the message. I have never seen about 8 players so locked into a national team as MMA WEAH REAM Reyna Puli.. Which, obviously Puli and Reyna should play. But not the rest.
lol after that Uruguay match I think someone should check in on maqwell. Bro’s been rooting for his ancestral Vietnam and Scotland, and his country USA. There’s no way he’s doing well rn
But also to be fair when the rep is that bad at his job and can communicate to the players where it looks like he’s borderline autistic. I would be too.
Although it’s quite funny watching the meltdown it’s actually awesome seeing Americans caring so much about football/soccer, they’re fully bought in and it’s cool to see
The comical federation loves it when no-one in the media talks about how embarrassing this Federation/Program is, now everyone is giving a damn and they have to face actual legitimate outside criticism which they're not accustomed to. The people that work for USSF wouldn't know accountability if it smacked them upside the head. It's genuinely pathetic. They're so nepotistic and inbred that they'd make the Hapsburgs look like a normal family.
@@JohnDoe-jy7svI went to the game, people were chanting fire Gregg at the end of the game as we were leaving. A lot of people care and are sick of this.
I'm glad they didn't fire Berhalter after the whole "Reyna family" fiasco. But there is absolutely NO WAY they can not fire his ass after this. What an embarrassment.
He shouldn't have even come back in the first place. I insist, he was one of the worst coaches at the last World Cup. Maybe top 3 worst. You KNEW this team wasn't going far. Even with Iran and Wales willing to "help".
What people forget was the reason why that all blew up was entirely started by Berhalter running his arrogant mouth at a "leadership conference" in front of corporate America, where he aired the dirty clubhouse laundry about Gio Reyna. A horrible breach of trust and done for the worst self-aggrandizing reasons. And so Gio's parents lost their shit.
Lukewarm take, they've played exclusively teams far better than Canada (with the exception of Peru, which we beat 1-0), we play very solidly, Marsch is the one and probably the best manager we've had in 25 years at least
@@joepickford6219he’s not that bad. Kind of screwed over at Leeds where he was sacked when they weren’t in the relegation zone and his replacements couldn’t save them. He would have been an upgrade for USA over Berhalter
When my father was younger he played with Claudio Reyna. My father was from an immigrant family who couldn't afford to pay for his soccer and was turned down the opportunity to go further because of the crazy expensive American youth clubs.
That’s FIFA though, as bad as they are I am pretty sure they will make good number of tickets available to fans for decent prices… I hope. World Cup will not just be greedy Americams making ticket price decisions.
Zealand, you hit the nail on the head. This ussf a) does not want to hire someone who wants more power than them, b) does not want to hire a new coach who makes their 6 month process of hiring Greg back look like they made the wrong choice.
I always clown England fans for having Southgate as their manager, but I never realized how similar our situation is to theirs. It's two cases of the fans vs the manager, except the players somehow defend their manager like their lives depended on it.
So true, but I think pound-for-pound Southgate is still a better manager than Greggy. Southgate could work wonders for a relegation-threatened side when it really mattered in the league, but I’d never trust Berhalter with a job like that. Don’t get me wrong, Southgate is not a good enough manager for England, but he’s legitimately better than Gregg
@pjkerrigan20 what? Southgate literally got a club team relegated and then got sacked the season afterwards😂 the only reason why southgate is considered half decent is because he's not hated by the players and has been dragged through tournaments by the player talent, not his tactics
@@koalaorange. Iceland beat the same side in the euros that Southgate took to the world cup semi's. He has the best record of any England manager since Ramsay and has transitioned the squad. Club football is totally different and I agree Southgate would struggle in the premier league but he is a good England manager otherwise Sven Goran Eriksson and Fabio capello must be even worse given they had better overall squads and did less
I am not Southgate's biggest fan at all and he is baffling me at the current Euros, however the guy has taken England to a World Cup semi final, a Euros final loss on pens and an unlucky world cup quarter final loss where we outplayed the eventual finalists France and Harry Kane missed a pen. That is basically better, multiple times than we had previously managed in the last 30+ years, and with arguably better teams under Erikson and Capello (the likes of scholes, gerrard, owen, rooney, ferdinand, cole, terry etc. in those teams). Southgate despite all his detractors can point to relative success compared to what has gone before. He was a couple of pens away from winning a major trophy. Not sure the same can be said for Berhalter, as Z says he hasn't achieved anything more than what has gone before. I think one of the biggest similarities is seemingly all the England players love Southgate, he has been managing them for like 8+ years, some even longer in the U21s and they all seem to just love him for some reason, and maybe like the US team there just isn't enough separation between manager and players there.
As a European seeing this competition for the first time. The standard of refereeing is shocking and I say that as someone who has to put up with PL standard refs. It's crazy some of the things I've seen.
Prem refs arent that bad. They make some bad calls but there are hundreds of games a year. With a sample size that big its guaranteed you are gonna get some shocking descions. Like 90% of the time people complaining about the reffing in the PL is just coping about their team playing bad.
CONCACAF and COMMEBOL has sent some incredibly terrible referees to world cups. They’re arguably the worst confederations when it comes to the referees
Bro, you know it's bad when former USMNT player Landon Donovan is coming out and saying that Berhalter needs to be fired. Thanks for the input, Mr. Donovan.
If Gregg isn't out by the 2026 World Cup US soccer just needs to pull out and let Canada and Mexico host themselves because apparently we don't give a fuck about the sport or having success.
It infuriates me, as much as I'm delights for my Canadian brothers and sisters in concacaf for them getting out of that group, why the fuck is Jesse Marsch coaching Canada at this copa America and not the US. He was available when the whole "is Greg staying" fiasco happened. Did he want to be paid actual money and not a Chuck E cheese salary like Greg is on? Was he even approached? Again happy for Canada, but fuck the ussf for ballsing that up.
He was approached. After he got the Canada job, he did an interview with one of the US networks where he said he wasn't going to get into details, but he wasn't treated very well.
Canada scored one goal and was fortunate to have two red cards in two consecutive games go their way in the 18th and 25th minute. They never looked threatening against teams who were pressing with a man down. Jesse Marsh is not the answer and his failure at Leeds was monumental. He brought in a bunch of Americans to try and shore up his team to stay in the league and they got substantially worse. McKennie looked like a lost child at Leeds and was fortunate Pogba got banned directly after an FFP violation by Juve or he would never have seen game time. People look at one result or one tournament and think they found success. Canada was lucky and they look just as bad as the US. No American coach is the answer. NO AMERICAN COACH IS THE ANSWER. If we don’t hire a legit coach from the highest level in Europe, you can prepare your excuses for the next tournament because you will need them. The players, the coach, and the federation are all substandard and in desperate need of an overhaul… and some freaking humility.
What sticks out to me about these past few USMNT performances is that the players look uncomfortable and frustrated and the plays look unnatural and forced, if that makes sense. It doesn't feel like organic football, there's not too much chemistry on the pitch, you need a certain amount of relaxedness and composure to really perform at the highest level and it's just not there right now.
When you put it as "Finish behind Panama and get grouped at your own Copa America" Even as an England fan (who watched the US' games as a neutral) I can't help but think that stings. There are some serious growing pains you lads are going through, wish I could say it gets easier.
England hates dribblers. It in Hornbys book. The one Firth acted in an adaptatiin of? And Drew Barrymore and Fallon? Obscure knowledge I guess. Look Southgate is an absolute Muggle. What can be different. The US is a worse version of you.
Not only should gregg berhalter be fired, but so should everyone who was involved in rehiring him. That said, in Matt turner's defense, it would create a very awkward situation when ussf inevitably says Berhalter is still their man if he had said anything else.
Did the USSF want to hire a coach or did they want to hire a Team Buddy? Because it sounds like they want the latter and they don't care about the former.
I can’t say I’m surprised. What did anyone expect when we brought him back? Just end the whole thing at this point. Everyone involved has proven themselves too inept for this to continue.
@@Sporting1210Aren’t most US soccer fans liberal anyway? You lose MAYBE 10% of the fan base and that’s assuming the 10% care _way_ more about their team’s politics than winning, in which case they wouldn’t watch with the Pride jerseys and all that anyway
@@Phoenix-vr6bv American soccer culture tends to skew middle and upper class, particularly men's teams. Maybe not red hats and tiki torches, but more than a few fans lean right.
@@shaunnichols1743to add to your point, there is also a certain variety of Latino in the US that leans pretty Miami-Cuban when it comes to politics (that is, very right wing and conservative). I’d still say the majority of the US soccer fan base doesn’t lean rightward, but there are many different right-wing influences on the culture nonetheless
That was my feeling as a Canada fan after the last few tournaments and the world cup 2022... finally against Peru and Chile we got the concrete results we needed instead of just moral victories...
@@joseph-fernando-piano Canada pass the group stage thanks to the HUGE help from the refs vs Chile. They need to show up vs Venezuela to begin taking seriously
@@gamakujira64e23It's a wild stat, but Southgate has somehow managed to win more knockout games than all other England managers combined since they won the World Cup in '66. Really says a lot about the quality of English NT coaching that fucking Southgate is one of their greatest ever.
Fun fact the ref has been investigated/is being investigated for matching fixing between an Argentina team and a Bolivian team when he received jerseys before a game and gave a controversial penalty to that team to win the game. How is he qualified to be in a tournament of this level with that on his record?
@@thechosenone1425 that’s the game, completely forgot which game. I’m not saying he was “bought” though I can see how that sounded. More like, as far as I read the investigation wasn’t finished, as well as in general he’s career is “tainted” with it. Europe has not allowed referees in tournaments for less. It was more of a “this ref has made unwise decisions in the past.”
@@stephenbachmeier913 yeah i do agree that its suspicious as hell, even i as a boca jrs fan knew that wasnt a penalty but refs here in general are pretty bad
As an Argentinian, I'm sad for you. But at the same time, I'm happy you realize the difference between CONMEBOL and CONCAAF. Saying USA is the fourth best national team of the whole continent is crazy, I even doubt you'd qualify for the WC in South America.
I feel your pain Zealand. Yet, based on what you said you might have a bigger problem than Berhalter. The situation reminds of the situation at Manchester United where everything sucks from top to bottom. The owners are cheapskates only interested in making money, the directors are incompetent and no one takes them seriously, the stadium has fallen in disrepair, the fans are revolting and not supporting the team, the player squad is out of balance and not performing as they should. In such a case, just kicking out the manager has a very small chance of actually changing something. From what you've said, the entire structure of American "soccer" needs to be revolutionised and in such a case you need to start at the top. You need a national bond capable of expanding the sport commercially, remove the thresholds for more people start playing, find some actually good officials and set up an academy structure that can compete with all other big sports. In the meantime, you need to wrestle control back from the squad, sell them a vision on how the national team should play and conduct itself and what their role in that plan should be. They need to find someone with actual expertise that can lay out a plan for at least 4 years. All while avoiding businesses or shareholders to suck up the resources for themselves. It will all start with hiring the right people at the top.
they all know this, from top to bottom. The problem is that - like everywhere else on the planet - the money loving scums at the top of the pyramids have become even more money loving and even more cynical and they won't give up their positions or wealth for anything, ever! We see this across the globe with all wealthy people, especially in these dire times when the wealth is being polarized into even less hands while the middle classes of people the world over are turning into lower classes even more. The (financial) system that's our society is based on needs to fall (and is already collapsing),. but a result of this collapse is the fact that the egotistical, non-empathic pieces of sh*t at the top of society become even more greedy, more egotistical, and downright evil, which is why they refuse to care about anything else but their own wealth and power...

Appreciate you showing the correct frame for the offside. I went and found it myself and ended up with the same one. Olivera's knee is clearly past McKennie's foot.
The ref didn't shake pulisic's hand because pulisic was telling the ref to go celebrate with the Uruguay group right before he attempted to shake the refs hand
I need this video to have enough likes that USSF can't ignore it. As for the Pulisic/ref handshake thing, I get it. As Pulisic is walking over to shake hands, he yells at the refs that they should join Uruguay in their celebrations. If a player insulted me in that way, I'd probably refuse to shake his hand as well.
Did you see the match live? Did you watch that specific play? Did you see the official CONMEBOL video and audio footage? Even so, 0 - 0 would do nothing for USA. Same outcome.
@@Jaco059 If you really watched the conmebol official footage youll see its on. Goal or not USA would be in the same situation thus being sent out on group stage. It sounds as you blame others instead the USA team + staff which are the true responsable of losing. Concacaf lever is lower than Conmebol and they should work on lmproving as panama and canada are showing .
The moment the players choose the coach because they get along well with him, they feel comfortable and within a comfort zone under his leadership... that's when you should realize that you screwed up. It's a professional sport, not a friends club. Those who have tried this idea have failed (a good example was Argentina in the 2018 World Cup).
Just in, Zealand on Berhalter: "I don't hate you, John. I don't even dislike you. I like you a hell of a lot more than I like most people in the back. I hate... this idea... that you're the best... because you're not. I'm the best. I'm the best in the world."
US soccer, have ambition! American athletes in other sports don't just want to show up, they WANT TO WIN. Look at Connor McDavid (Canadian, yes, but it's the only other sport I follow) in the Stanley Cup Final. He got his team all the way to an improbable comeback and narrowly last in the last game. He was heartbroken because he said at the beginning of the season that it was cup or bust. That's a good athlete. US Soccer and its players are not showing that they want to win, that they would consider anything less to be a failure. They're just talking about showing up and "testing themselves" against the world's best, not about actually beating them. Zealand said it, but that's loser mentality. They're not being coached to have that fire to use or exceed their talents and win. Uruguay are theoretically a better team but that match was winnable. Panama was winnable. Win, try to win, put your heart out on the pitch, do it for your country. Only then will US soccer players and their team be taken seriously.
While I appreciate the intent behind what you're saying, McDavid is the best player in the world, someone who can drag his team to wins single-handedly. The US has nobody in his stratosphere from a skill, mental, or physical standpoint. Though they have a decent roster, they can't rely on a Messi, Ronaldo, or Mbappe to carry them. They have to do it as a team, and that's where having a bad coach really hurts.
@@emanueldelacruz1101History does not apply on a match by match basis (if it did, Manchester United would not have lost 4-0 to Crystal Palace this last season), and good teams don't melt under pressure to theoretically superior teams. Recently in the Euros there was a similar situation with Georgia who were fighting for their lives with no guarantee of advancing even with a win and Portugal who didn't really care about the outcome of the match, and Georgia beat Portugal 2-0 with a coherent counter-attacking strategy with an impenetrable defense. That's how you can shut down more talented teams and eek out needed victories, and a good manager and properly drilled players could certainly (if not easily) have beaten Uruguay in that match (which was only 1-0 with a certainly defendable goal being the only deciding factor).
Baseball monopoly owners will not trust me It's all about franchises in the US That's why it took so long for football (soccer) to get halfway decent after over a 100 years
Welcome to International Football. It is a crazy world where the USA T20 cricket team makes it out of the T20 World Cup group stage and in the concacaf the Football team doesn't.
I’m not going to this Brazil Colombia game cause ticket prices are insane. Can’t justify spending 400 bucks when you add the outrageous ticket master prices
As soon as Bolivia scored and Gregg was telling everyone that the other game was 1-1 I immediately knew we were going to lose that game. You don't tell your players the current situation because it's only encouraging complacency. You should go into that game with a "we control our own destiny mentality", and encouraging to the players to rely on the other result is ridiculous levels of not giving a shit about controlling your own destiny.
The ref was absolutely terrible but the US had the ability and talent to win this game and it shouldn’t have even come down to the final day for them to advance or go out.
I thought a golden generation was supposed to be able to punch above their weight. This US squad is nothing different from the others throughout the years. The only difference is that the starting 11 is all from Europe. If anything, this squad is worse than when the likes of Donovan and Dempsey were playing
If there's one thing you can say about Clint, he's a guy who can instill some fear. That's what the USMNT needs more of. They don't have any edge right now.
This squad is definitely not worse than the Donovan and Dempsey teams. Recency bias is strong. They should've fired the coach a while ago, literally a worse Southgate.
Gregg Berh OMEGALUL lter Edit: Yesterday, there was a derby between Palmeiras and Corinthians, two of the biggest teams in Brazil. The Palmeiras guy takes a free kick like shit, at ground level, straight towards the center of the goal. It shouldn't be a goal, BUT the Corinthians guy pushes his teammate and, as he falls down, the ball hits the guy's head and goes straight to the bottom corner, hits the post and goes in. Palmeiras is the most successful team in recent years, Corinthians is struggling with 9 points out of 39. Moral of the story: Good luck goes hand in hand with COMPETENCY. If you guys keep acting this complacent, not even all the talent in the world will save you from embarrassement. Point in case: Brazil.
It's hilarious to see the US and Mexico crying about questionable refereeing, as if they haven't been robbing the rest of CONCACAF for decades on the backs of questionable refereeing... as a Canadian fan, I'll be over here playing the world's smallest violin for both teams...
Brother from 6:00 - 7:30 you spat absolute facts and I wish you weren’t so right but that was nail head bang on why this country can’t figure out how to be successful. Uruguay has 1/100th the population and gdp we do, we just splotch it up a wall and don’t ask why
Tbh I'd be in favour of changing the rules so that you can delay a yellow card to allow a quick free kick, though I understand the anger here And no, the ref refusing to shake Pulisic's hand after Pulisic told him to celebrate with the Uruguayans wasn't petulant, it's awful sportsmanship from Pulisic and he should be fined. Just because you're upset about a loss doesn't mean you should go after the match official
tbh, that match referee should not do an international for quite some time. He let the game get out of control, and he made several other mistakes similar to the showing the yellow play on fiasco
As someone who was a ref for 5 years technically the ref did nothing wrong in that situation. Technically. It’s up to his discretion to pull the play back if he feels the need to issue cards, talk to a player but he doesn’t have to, and by law the attacking team can restart as soon as possible, again with the refs discretion. That being said it should have absolutely been called back, although we can’t blame the ref for years of mediocrity from the fa, berhalter and the team as a whole
@@m.c.martin honestly that was one of the few I agreed with. If you watch it back Adam’s loses control of the ball and dives in. Olivera wins the ball, clears it and Adam’s impedes the natural motion of his follow through. Until about a year or so ago this would always go against Adam’s. Yes olivera catches him with his studs but that’s not necessarily his fault and fouls are not judged on the result or injury but the action itself. That being said within the last year or two especially in the premier league these have started going against the person who wins the ball(olivera) for dangerous play but I personally think that’s a poor ruling. We can’t expect players to somehow immediately stop their momentum when the game is moving so fast and they are off balance
