Brad Holmes all time greatest GM and hasn't won a chip yet. Flushed bad contracts and has maneuvered this team to add young good talent and not break the team for it. Kudos to Sheila for bringing Brad in and for STAYING the course and not succumbing to fanbase pressure. She clearly knows what she is doing and she has allowed BH and DC to move autonomously while keeping the pulse of the team. All it takes is someone who knows what they are doing Detroit fans. By far Holmes and Yzerman are the best GM's in Detroit right now. Excited for the draft now
@@brandonblake320good god the Yzerman distrust is insane. You realize it took him years to get TB to where they are today? We’re on year 4 of the yzerplan and the first two don’t really count with Covid and dealing with the prior regimes trash. Troy weaver is third on the list of GMs. Haven’t seen the moves from Troy like Brad to be honest. I can’t say what I think of Scott Harris.
I call BS. I've been saying since Campbell got here and started interacting that people were gonna want to come play for Him and that that was worth going through the growing pains of a new coach
Holmes is possibly the best GM the Lions have had in my lifetime. All of these moves might not work out, that's the nature of the beast, but they have all been made with a clear plan in place. The level of risk in most of these moves is also very low with easy outs after a year or two. I love the commitment to building through the draft and supplementing with smart free agency moves.
Rico is the type of fan I can't mess with, huge sparty head, rocking a sparty hat, from michigan, but whoops just not a lions fan. he's somehow like a 49ers fan? sure thing dude.
The Lions could field the team as it is today, without a single 2023 draft pick, and would still be the odds on favorite to win the North and seriously compete for the NFC Championship Game. At what point did we all cross into the "Red Fringe Universe" or "Bizarro Earth" or some other earth from the multiverse? Because...I mean...wow! ~Be Blessed
I know what a tool....I can't believe he wasn't a New England fan being they were good for over a decade....he has not one tie to Cali, the 49ers, ect....I just NEVER could root for a team that wasn't from my home state.....Rico Mike's yes man
Makes me wonder how much of these great signings are because players want to play for Dan Campbell? It can’t be 100% money. This is weird as a Lions fan. The Lions are being smart in signing, and are now playing “big boy” football. It’s impressive
I agree. The Lions don't need to draft a CB at 6 overall. Take Tyree Wilson, Will Anderson, or yes even Jalen Carter (I think the Lions culture could actually help him).
@@arthurfonzarelli9828 I can't blame em. The crash is one thing. Showing up looking like Haynesworth at the pro day is another. See what falls to 6, or move up for Will Anderson
The first time I watched this show, none of us had grey hairs, so that's how long we've been waiting for a lions turnaround. It's finally happening and it's even more of a pleasure to watch this show. It's bitter sweet but sweet nevertheless!!! Go lions!!! 💯
Same brother. The grey in this beard is atleast 70% on the lions lol. I'm trying to temper my excitement the last two seasons but the way DC and BH and Martha have built this team masterfully and they just keep on making all the right moves. I'm really looking forward to the next couple seasons!
Everyone talking about winning the Division I think they have a shot at the NFC conference!! EAGLES, 49ers, Cowboys, Viking we can beat them. We not scared of None of them.
Maybe I'm sentimental but I still want them to bring Chark back. We got Sun God as an All-Pro-esque slot guy, Jamo is a burner and Chark is a great compliment piece with his size. That's a trio I think about alot
I think thats an idea, but Chark does have injury concerns with how much he has been hurt. With one of our 2nds we could get a receiver or even bring back a guy like Marvin Jones on a one year and still be good. Honestly Josh Reynolds on the outside will be fine to start the year. But I like the trio idea if we get Chark at the right price.
That just makes no sense of brad Holmes too draft a QB. Trade up for not much and get will Anderson. Jalen carter I am out on, that pro date was depressing and this is coming from someone who thought he was the #1 pick. Jalen carter is giving me fairley vibes
@@solomo3456 gives me fairley vibes , I’m not risking a top 10 pick on him. I honestly hope he ends up proving everyone wrong, but I’m just not risking that pick
I will say we had a similar looking roster and maybe better in 2014 -2018 ...we want and got Glover Quinn we had suh..slay... Calvin stafford Reggie bush etc. So I get it... im one of the people that they need to prove they are the team they set out to be ..
@Joe S yeah I hear ya I forsure have hope and it does start in the front office and I mean the very top because we hadmve had some good coaches come through and fail here so it starts with Sheila on down and its looking better
Brad is going to take Hendon Hooker with the torn ACL because he can sit for a year and also doesn't have to pay him as much with a 2nd or 3rd round pick.
Okudah is not coming back after his contract expires this year. His feet was sealed last year when he got benched. They've made it loud and clear in the offseason
when a player picked high up in the first round is making almost $10mil this season in his final year, and has been a total bust since day 1, and is getting paid more than CJ Gardner, who has been a baller since his rookie season, and is on a 1 year deal, who do you think the Lions are planning to re-sign to a multi-year contract next season? CJ Gardner probably has a very smart agent. The plan is to get your foot in the door on an up and coming team with plenty of cap space hext knowing that Okudah is done this year, that Tracy Walker is coming off an achilles injury this season and only has one year left on his contract, and Mosely is also on a one year deal.. the players left in the s3condary next year under contract will be Kerby and Sutton. And CJ Gardner if he plays anywhere close to what he has in the past 3 years. That is why Garner took the one year deal for $8mil. It also shows goodwill to the Lions and their ownership that you were willing to believe in the team and what they are building. Kudos for seeing the bigger picture.
@@devinbender8428 no doubt. I would even argue he played better than expected overall BUT teams place a lot of stock in how you performed most recently and that's a big problem for him. If it weren't they'd have never felt the need to spend this time of money at his position. He went from being a guy who almost had to play cause all the resources invested in him to now the others will likely be looked at first cause of that very same reason
Brad Holmes is already the best GM in Lions history. I never felt this confident & excited in a Lions team ever in my life. I can’t wait until the Draft & next season! I really hope Brad is hire for the long run, 20+ years would be amazing
Idk why some Lions fans are so against trading up for a QB. The Rams literally won a super bowl the second they dumped Goff. Goff is solid, but that's all he can ever be. The Chiefs dumped a solid QB in Alex Smith for a high upside, raw QB. How'd that work out for them? Trading up for a young QB with super star potential and sitting behind a mid QB for a year is great process. Jared Goff will never be good enough to win a super bowl. 2023 is about making the playoffs and winning a playoff game. Goff is perfect for what the Lions need this year. He's horrible when expectations rise for the Lions in 2024 and beyond. Brad Holmes would be making the right decision to try and get Richardson. Better to strike out swinging for the fences than striking out just trying to get on base
Here is Rico the Troll, saying now the Lions are in a 2 year window to win, and then should rebuild again lol So either he is trolling us, or he does not understand what Brad is actually trying to build here. Interesting, because his 49ers have been really good 3 of the last 4 seasons. So by Rico’s calculations they are two years over do for a complete rebuild.
I agree with Mike about trading up to 3 and getting their guy but that's only if their guy is clear cut above their number 2 or 3. For instance if they have lets say Anderson, Carter and Wilson all graded out virtually the same it probably isn't worth it in their eyes to give up extra capital to pick one of them cause 1 of the 3 is going to be there at 6 in all likelihood. OTOH if you have say Anderson in his own tier then yeah I would trade up to get him and I think Holmes would to. I'm not sure he's going to do that just yet though cause even though it seems like QBs are going 1-2 you don't know that for sure, you don't want to trade up to 3 now assuming you will get your guy only for something crazy happen like Houston taking him and waiting for their QB next draft.
Because of Goffs contract. He’ll definitely be asking for a ransom and you either do that or you draft a QB and have to restart the offensive scheme from scratch again. Plus assistants leaving and rookie contracts expiring. The Lions only have a small window to keep all this talent together
@@CATCH22-313 goff has been a top 10 (arguably top 5 qb) in the last year and half. If theres a GOOOD rookie sure. But the odds of ANY of these rookies being as good as goff? Especially in the next 3 years? Slim to none
Mike's completely right those people that have to see it first, even though it's been showed dozens of times in small sense of the way. But those show me right now people are usually those 50 60-year-old guys who have been tortured for many years. But what I want to know is how close are we as lions fans and the Lions organization to having Mike actually be a legit lions fan. That's what I want to know
Huge steal for Detroit. And with cap space in 2024 onwards, the Lions can re-sign both CGJ and Moseley to long term deals if they play well this year. CGJ can play different positions and that's huge.
If Valenti is onboard and you are still holding out, you are just special at this point. This is all for real, and we are going to have to learn how to act accordingly...
Koolaids turned into a hallucinogenic.😂 I'm not say'in they won't be good, just win the division and a playoff game. The whole country doesnt see you as a joke now, so keep it going!!
Get Jalen Carter (provided Holmes checks him out) Detroit will have a dominant top 3 D with Hutch Houston Carter upfront. Maybe you add Sewell or Campbell in the 2nd n lets go! Detroit is not trading up to 3 for a non QB stop with the silliness especially with this draft where 4 QBs could go in the top 6 pk. You could sit trade back and get future assets. Let Holmes handle the draft boys. Stop fretting over nothing.
Valenti is right... Holmes' moves in FA have opened the door to trade up and take Will Anderson. It'd take our 2nd and 3rd...no biggie. Can get Hooker in rd 2 if you want a back up qb of the future. 6 Will Anderson 18 Quentin Johnston
this gives Aaron glenn the versatility on defense to do what ben Johnson does on offense....schemes, moving players around and confusion to opposing QB
Exactly. I’ve noticed they are building the defense that way. Romeo okwara can line up anywhere on the front 7. Houston and cominsky can line up anywhere de or lb. Pascal taylor and bugs in or out d line. Now the backfield is the same with Lucas, Joseph, sutton, CJGJ, Walker, and moosley. Put the players in the best situation to perform
I don’t have any wants. I trust Brad Holmes which is something I’ve never been able to say about a GM. I have full trust in him. Whatever he does, I guarantee it’s the right move.
His problem is in the locker room, Dennard Wilson who didn’t get their dc job left for Arizona and one of his biggest things was babysitting Cj in the locker room, he’s a bit of a ticking time bomb but one hell of a player
C.j. won't be a problem. He has known Campbell since high school, in the interview he said that Campbell was like a father to him. I think that the coaches and players will make sure that he plays smart. He said as a rookie that Campbell is the first to let him know when he screwed up.
Lions Fans so brainwashed. Who said the #6 has to play? Stop it. You get your future QB and make him ready for 2 years they not paying Goff. Dan Campbell said it. Goff won’t be here next 10 years. And it’s going to make him better. Nobody is SAFE with BH!
You want to villainize, go get Justin Herbert, Mr. Holmes. Funny, absurd as that notion is, it's not exactly out of the question with Holmes, eh? Even more absurd is Justin Herbert in Ben Johnson's offense. That would be sick!!!
Rico act as if the 49’ers have been winning championships year after year. The Lions are putting together a solid team. I would like them to move to 3 and grab Anderson. But I wouldn’t be mad if they get a QB, heck the Niners had a QB but still drafted a QB. Rico such a hypocrite. Be factual, stop with this SOL attitude. That’s why I don’t listen to him. Mike should be solo.
You back out of 6, for 2024 draft picks. Try for a 1 this year a one next year. If you can get move up from a 20 something pick and a possible crap team who is grabbing a qb. Move the 18 up if you want for a fatty.
@Jacob walters he has put the team in a position to draft best player available. It’s been masterful to watch thus far! One pride baby! The Brand New Lions! Going to curb stomp the NFC north!
Hendon Hooker IS the QB pick in the 2nd Round. I can see Brad trading pick 6 for an extra 2nd Round pick, so having 3 picks now in the 2nd Round. The 1st Round picks are DL and maybe Simpson at 18. Probably a QB (Hooker), a Guard and a Receiver all in the 2nd Round, if Chark doesn't return. GO LIONS!!!
How much are the Lions willing to go up 3 spots? We switch spots with the Cardinals no. 3 and only give up no.18? Agree with Rico, the no. 6 pick has to start day one, not year 3.
Rico tripping with that QB take but I get it. I’m apprehensive to pick a QB at 6 too but I’m also not afraid of progress. Also completely disagree that the window is the next 2 years. Brad and Dan are clearly aiming to build something sustainable
Only thing is if we don’t take a qb, when goffs contract is up we kinda fucked. I say take a qb now and build em to replace goff when he eventually leaves.
Those fans are just squeaky wheels, there are probably only 4 of them, but it's a pretty loud screech. Lions place a big pressure tackle in the middle of that line, at least on passing downs, and I don't care where they find him, along with Jack Campbell at linebacker, another corner if only to put on the practice squad in case of injuries, wide receiver, tight end, kicker named Mooney, QB, maybe good enough to back up Goff. Having some salary cap left over for people that get let go after the draft is good policy as well. How far down will Charlie Jones go in the draft? Michigan couldn't cover him. I think he is pretty good. Should be a fun season.
Mr. Mike Valenti how many times did you get excited when the Lions showed potential of winning the division then they tank out? I hear you talking Valenti now, yet when those "expectation" lights come on, just play S.O.L-FREE BALL. is it fair to say that the Lions have no excuses to strap up, be prepared, and seal the deal? I will not use their past against them, if there are no more excuses to win the North. Aaron's done or gone, bears and Vikings seems to be rebuilding. The lions have no excuses.
I know I might get a little flack for this and I don't care. There's mock traps of New England taking Jack Campbell with their first pick of the draft in the middle of the road and that scares me because Jack Campbell is the one piece we need to solidify our defense with everything we've already done. I'm not necessarily saying pick check handle at 6:00 but I think we actually need or will get more acquisitions in the draft if we trade down. Just a little tiny bit grab. Jack Campbell and make our team with him and all the other pics that we will get the team that is the most dominant. I understand Jalen Carter. If we get Jalen Carter at 6:00 I will be extremely happy with that as well cuz that means the lines are moving past the off. The field issues BS that they always say they can't pick up people because of that so that would be another check. Mark from the front office if we get Jalen Carter at number 6 but if we get check Campbell I don't care where we pick him. Jack Campbell is the guy that we need. We have lacked an inside linebacker since f****** Chris spielman for Christ sakes and do whatever you have to do to pick up Jack Campbell. That's what I'm saying to the Lions front office and war room. Love the show guys and this is a long ass chapter of a RU-vid comment and I'm sorry for that but that's how I feel. I love the show you guys are the greatest Mike knows me. I've been to his house. I winterize the sprinkler system when I was with Miller and I obviously Mike already knows we'll keep that a secret. But I was obviously really nervous for doing his house because the fact I've done Eminem's house i done federovs house and Joey kosher's house and Chris draper's house. Mike vlenny was the guy that I was the most nervous to not f****** and this is laughable because he'll know that I totally look like a dumbass that day lol
Eagle fan here. Very good player. Eagles prioritized Bradberry. Look for Philly to fill position in Draft. Branch from Bama. Brown from PSU at pick 30 & 62.
