A serious answer to the end question. A vampire movie with a male ballet dancer as the vampire. Set it in Moscow under the Soviet Union. If the girls just disappear nothing is ever said because people are afraid they were "disappeared" by state security forces (KGB). A relative of a missing girl teams up with a police detective to find the vampire. In the end the vampire escapes by defecting to the west, setting up a sequel.

When you said who will save them I instinctively yelled 'Santo!'. Because it did seem like his kind of set up. So the pitch: That young girl in Santo and the Treasure of Dracula turns out to be keen on ballet, and wants to use Santo's time machine to see a performance of a legendary ballerina in her prime. But when she's back in time Santo observes to his horror that the Coreographer is actually Dracula and all the ballerinas are in his thrall! In 'Santo and the Red Shoes....of Blood!'.

“On Point(ed Teeth)” or possibly “Die, Fledermaus, Die”: A young ingenue joins a ballet troupe known for its near-superhuman coordination and athleticism, only to find that, behind the scenes, they drop the “near”. You could do a sort of Phantom of the Opera thing - a vampire dancing master turns a girl into a spectacular dancer who needs blood and takes it from her rivals- but the basic idea was already done in TRILBY, and done MUCH better in THE RED SHOES. I suppose you could do a rip-off anyhow and call it THE BLOOD-RED SHOES.

Ballet is featured is several horror films outside the Vampire subset -- such as Suspiria, which takes place at a ballet school and has lots of gore and witchcraft. Some fans consider the film Black Swan a horror film, as it has a heroine going crazy and also lots of body horror scenes. Then there's the old Bela Lugosi 1935 classic The Raven, in which he's a mad doctor who's in love with a ballet dancer who performs a dance based on Poe's poem (since the guy who played Dracula is the star, could it count as an honorary Vampire/Ballet film?)

Guy Maddin's "Dracula: Pages from a Virgin's Diary" is a choreographed ballet rendition of Stoker's Dracula set to portions of Mahler's First and Second symphonies. Deeply nestled in arthouse aesthetics stylistically with some great homages to silent era film though it was filmed in 2002 (and all the other usual Maddin techniques also employed). Very good if you are open to appreciating his style. I like it quite a bit.

The original Italian title translates to 'The Vampire's lover'. That makes more sense than 'The Vampire and Ballerina'. The girls are more of a jazz dance group than ballerinas! First saw movie way back in the early seventies on, I want to say, Creature Feature? I liked it and was totally surprised when I saw online the film came out on Blu-Ray. Obviously, I bought it. On Amazon, 'Playgirls and the Vampire' was released on Blu-Ray last month. Now if they release 'Slaughter of the Vampires' on Blu-Ray, I can rest in my bed once again.

If I was doing a vampire ballerina story, I would make it part of the world building. Maybe you have other types of vampire but the main characters are all artists and perfectionists. They've sought out vampires or been found by vampires to extend their lives so they have the time and youth to perfect their art. Beethoven's muse Elise would be one of them though he was either rejected or refused. I'd need to do some research on him to work that bit out. But you have these incredibly long-lived characters who have become used to disappearing and reappearing with a different name but as film and newspapers and the internet have grown this becomes more and more difficult and some are having to lie low unable to perform publicly so going slowly mad with their situation.

I actually really like the Countess's formal dress, good design. Story pitch about ballerinas and vampires: a young dancer is recruited when a spot opens up for a production, but she soon finds out that her fellow dancers are all vampires, hence why they're so practiced (they've had centuries to perfect their skills). Comedy of terrors ensues when she keeps trying to slip out of the job despite them actually treating her well and expressing no interest in turning her (she's basically the villain of her own story). She's definitely getting out alive, but will it be with a well-paying job or will she be forced to check the classifieds yet again?

Gary Busey could have played the vampire sans makeup.

One of the best examples of the Euro/Sex gothic horror films if the early 60’s. Btw you’re more handsome with short hair! Just my opinion take it or leave it lol

Well the currently in cinemas Abigail is about a little girl vampire ballerina if that counts.

I rather like the idea of a ballerina (in tough boots) doing a grand jete to land on a stake that hasn't completely pierced the vampire's heart yet,.

Such a shame. There were some really great ideas in this film that they just didn't do anything with.

I take it your comment about a vampire and a ballerina was meant to be ironic. I believe Abigail has already cornered the market, right down to Swan Lake.

1:25 With how he wears his clothes here my first guess wouldn't have been that he's straight. But not a lot of openly gay back in those days i guess, so properly weren't part of many movie characters. In a more modern movie he would have been the stereotypical gay choreographer with same clothes with some weak wrists thrown in.

Oooooh, sexy ladies. Not sure I get why they bothered putting that weird vampire B plot in the film, though.
