I used to be quite hard on Stefan and then one day I fully realised, he was 17 when they turned and his big brother was 24. I sort of always seen them as a similar age because they’re vampires, but when I really thought about it, it changed my perspective on their relationship a lot. Damon’s boyish charm makes him seem young and impressionable to Stefan and his actions but he’s not, he’s the adult, Stefan is the teenager. That’s changed so much for me personally, especially with Stefan wanting Damon to turn with him. I wish they’d put “I just needed my big brother” in the script instead of “I just needed my brother” so we could really see that he was a vulnerable minor who needed his brother and was misguided and selfish in his actions, as teenagers always are (just like I was too). It doesn’t excuse things but I can see why things played out that way and I’m more sympathetic. I imagine being turned younger would be horrible, if I was trapped as a selfish, immature and traumatised 17 year old, I don’t know if I would ever feel I grew up. I respect Caroline that way for her strength.

I think you’re missing the part that although Tyler was “human” in the pilot the werewolf gene was always with him and with that comes aggressive uncontrollable behavior. It doesn’t excuse what he did but it’s the reason why we don’t hate him. We understand him as a supernatural being in the later episodes. He is not like all the other humans. Even though he’s portrayed that way to the viewer in the pilot. Yeah, I didn’t like him at first either but once we find out he’s a wolf, it makes sense. He grew on me and you could tell as the show progressed he felt bad about what he did. There’s character development there but you refuse to see it cause you already made up your mind that you hate him. Anyway, no disrespect. I love your content and you! 🥰

Yes this'll be a rant your about to hear for Tylers sake. Idk if you keep forgetting or whatevs, but the Lockwood Family has the mythological werewolf gene that heightens your emotions especially around a certain time of the month like Mason tried explaining to the audience while prying info from Tyler. His dad was a Alpha male douchebag like Alaric said in season 1, he was the mayors son who was privileged and was raised by his parents to be a certain way. Tyler nvr actually did anything to Vickie, they were both drunk and she lead him on because she was desperate for this attention between him and Jer. They got hot and heavy and then Tyler went a little overboard and we dont actually know what would happen because it lasted 4-5 seconds before jer interrupted and then he said Vickie Donovan says no....thats a first, and walks away instead of doing anything else. He gained control and walked away from the drama. Vickie then lashes out at Jer afterwards like wth did you do that for? Supernatural reasons, privileged upbringing as well as Vickie are the reason that scene happened. Even if that were the case, Tyler is not only a different person because his werewolf gene was no longer suppressed, but now that he's a hybrid his werewolf emotions are heightened and Caroline said in the scene you skipped on youtube version that Tyler hates the guy he use to be and he doesn't wanna be like that. Tyler is trying harder then anyone else in the show to self improve with everything from season 2 to current and further on. It's people being offended about Jer not liking Tyler. Maybe it's because I don't like the guy myself and I've watched the whole series, it's too early for Jer maybe he still gonna change sides and y'all are now up his arse like that. For me first impressions really matter and Tyler really got under my skin the first season. Your argument for giving the vampires a pass is vampire lore and maybe the werewolf lore doesn’t touch on aggression but most shows and books these days portray the werewolf as aggressive and uncontrollable-Twilight (Jacob) Buffy the Vampire Slayer (Oz) and Teen Wolf. Several on there. So the writers of The Vampire Diaries went down this route and was sure to make sure viewers were aware that Tyler has the werewolf gene. Now obviously we didn’t know in the pilot and it doesn’t excuse his actions but it explains it once we learn he wasn’t technically human in the pilot. He was human but having that gene made him different than someone like Matt.
