"I do believe in killing the messenger. Do you wanna know why? It sends a message." I love that line and that whole scene with Isobel and Damon. We get to see him FINALLY show some real venom towards Katherine.
27:50 Isobel got turned about 2 years prior, Alaric tells Jenna that he lost his wife 2 years ago, and also talks with Damon about looking for his wife for 2 years. So she turned about 14-15 years after giving birth to Elena.
I’ve always assumed that Isobel was just so obsessed with vampires bc it was her area of study and she became hyperfixated on the idea that she wanted to be one before really considering if she’d like it or not- it just seemed unobtainable and glamorous thus making her want it.
Damon is so badass when’s he protective, especially when it comes to elena. When he said, “Going after people I care about? Going after elena? Bad move.” It gave me so many chills when he said that. 😭
Not Isabel outing Damon’s feelings for Elena like that. She is so messy Omg. When she said, “it’s because he’s in love with you.” I gasped so loud the first time I watched this. 😭
I know the ending conversation between Bonnie & Care is for the audience but imagine how confused she is listening to Bonnie yap about something mysterious she didn't do for Elena 💀 She asks for context and Bonnie keeps going with her monologue lmao
Isobel wanted to become a vampire because of her greed and curiosity. She was interested in folklore and vampires during her years on university and she said to Alaric that she wants to prove the vampires are real. That's why she intentionally looked for Katherine and Damon and all the known vampires and later Damon turned her into one.
I could never tell whether Isobel actually had feelings at this point or she was just remembering those feelings until she got rid of them. I thought the actress was doing a pretty good job with that
Blake, Corey, and Igli, and Elena is officially back to being a biological Gilbert. Besides being brother & sister, Elena and Jeremy are now cousins too.
I have to roll my eyes at the conversation between Stefan and Damon about history not repeating itself. As if the big tough men get to make the decisions for the little woman .If Elena wants to remain with Stefan, it's HER choice. If she decides she would rather be with Damon, same damn thing.
NO IT DOESNT MATTER IF THE WOOD IS PROCESSED OR NOT. AS LONG AS THE WOOD GOES THROW A VAMPIRES HEART IT'LL KILL THEM. (sorry im not trying to be dramatic. its just for 20 eps igli keeps saying processed wood this processed wood that and im so frustrated no one has commented this already)
It's not late. Elena has consistently chosen vampires over her friends that she's known since childhood. Bonnie's grandma died because of Elena and the vampires. Bonnie had every fvcking right to distance herself. 12:02
Since Elena met Stefan she has always been involved in so many things because of the salvatores, therefore I don't think she had time to go out and have bestie time with her and Caroline, her life or people around her's was always at risk. Sheila didn't die because of Elena, she died because of Damon and his stupid tomb. I love Bonnie, but in the first 2 seasons she was annoying af, Elena repeatedly tried to make her get along with stefan but she always refused and made things awkward (even when she didn't know about supernatural). Elena crying at the grill because her bio mom is a selfish b*tch and didn't care about her and Bonnie seeing her crying yet still turned her back on her, that's too dramatic and disappointing, her friend needed her and she turned her back on her. And also when she lied in episode 22 saying she canceled the spell but she didn't and Anna died because of that, anna was a good person, she didn't deserve that. Just like how there are good and bad witches, that's the same with vampires, but she was blind and focused on being dramatic rather than being realistic.
Gone with the wind, one of the biggest Blockbuster academy award winning movies of all time film in the 1940s about southern life and the civil war. The movie is a masterpiece in cinematography
Not to “Um, actually you” 🤓 …it came out in 1939-though it did win best movie in 1940. Back then it was called “Outstanding Production.” It beat the Wizard of Oz, but not surprisingly, “Somewhere Over the Rainbow” won for best original song. The character they mentioned was the female lead, Scarlett O’Hara. Also, the line that has stood the test of time (at least it did when I was growing up in the 90s) is: “Frankly, my dear, I don’t give a damn.”
Imagine hearing "you channel Scarlett daily" and taking it as a compliment. Scarlett is one of the most insufferable characters of all time. There's an uncomfortable antebellum romanticization that crops up too often in vampire fiction (TVD, True Blood, Twilight, etc.) and this line is a symptom of that. No modern american teenager (now or 2009) would idolize Scarlett O'Hara. For anyone interested in a video essay on the topic of southern vampires, Princess Weekes has a good video called "Why Are There So Many Confederate Vampires?" Don't go into it defensively, it's a very analytical breakdown.
I don't imagine it was meant as a compliment, per se, but rather that there are some similarities between their characters, don't you think? Bonnie wasn't necessarily saying it as a good thing. I think she was just recognizing that her friend has a similar energy and vibe to Scarlett 🤷 At this point in Caroline's story, she is self-centered, bubbly, and entitled. She values her appearance and uses it to her advantage. These are all things that Scarlett does as well 🤷
