My favorite line that Damon says to Stefan in the end of season 3 is "Dear Diary, a chipmunk asked me my name today, I told him it was Joe. That lie will haunt me FOREVER!!"
I swear, if they had cast differently for either Elena or Damon, I doubt I would still be watching this show. Even in the audition, Ian is doing that incredible "eye thing" that Damon is so good at! ♥__♥
Weelll they certainly made a 100% RIGHT choice. :) Nina is not only BEAUTIFUL, but she's also, talented, special, nice, awesome and PERFECT for the job. :)

Not very convinced in the beginning for Nina's hair color... but after seeing her acting, I totally fell in love with her and her way to impersonate that role. Ian is a PERFECT choice, an excellent actor and a very hot man. SBAV.
She should have been paid more. The network struck gold when they cast her, she played four different characters and knocked it out of the park every time.
They made the right decision with Nina!! She is sooo talented, I refuse to believe that she is both Katherine and Elena because the way she switches from Elena to Katherine is just way to good!
Yup, Nina wasn't sure about dating guys from the show, so it's only in the latter half of season 1 that anything happened between the show. But, they weren't most definitely together before that.
I've read the books and I watch the tv series and while each has their own good points, I have to say I like the series better. No matter how mad Elena makes me, Nina always does an amazing job in the role and Ian is just perfect as Damon.
I love that Ian was able to just come to the studio and "discuss playing the role" like oh let's have you read some stuff with an obnoxious ring just for kicks and just let you talk to the network execs... What a baller.
The characters' appearances didn't matter to me in the TV show. To me, the TV show and the amazing books are two completely different universes. I love them both. :) In the book, Elena has blond hair. In the show, it's brunette. Simple!
Actually I was sooooo pissed this show plain ripped off Buffy in the beginning. I was ready to turn it off, until Damon showed up. I'm a guy, and I was like "Woah, this guy is pretty much the reason I will be watching the next episode now". I still hate it that they keep ripping of Buffy and Angel because they have proved they can have good story lines of their own but keep playing it safe, but I like the show now and Damon is definitely 90% of the reason I keep watching it.

From where I am sitting the show is nothing like the books. Just as Merlin isn't the Arthurian legend and has characters based on it, thus it is with TVD. For me Daman and Stefan are like Supernatural's Sam and Dean.
Nina is perfect for the role. Besides, the fact that she is bulgarian (and her features are totally from a east europe person) makes the whole vampire thing more real. That reminds me the classic Dracula history and all that stuff. And of course Ian is perfect because represents all what we (the woman) wants that is a hot-bad guy with a heart in the inside. Both are the perfect couple in and outside the screen.
I'm really happy they cast Nina Dobrev, she's amazing as both Elena and Katherine hair color has little to do with and actress's ability to embody a role and I'm glad the producers for TVD saw that :) as for Ian as Damon, BEYOND PERFECT!!
Usually when they turn books into movies, I'm so worried about who they're going to cast as the characters and most of the time I'm just not satisfy, but deal with it anyways. But, Ian... he's PERFECT as Damon!! I've never been so SATISFY with an actor playing one of my favorite characters before! Out of all the actors that are playing the characters on the show, Ian is by for the most FITTED one! I can't see anyone else playing Damon!
Nina Dobrev is a great actress. I liked her on Degrassi so i was really happy when I started watching the show and realized it was her! with our without the blonde hair :P
i read the books first and did expect her to be blonde BUT when i seen it was Nina, from degrassi... i was pleased anyway and knew it was going to be a good series :)
oo i read the books after the series started so I was very shocked to read her described as a blonde! i didn't like her character in the first couple of books but i love Nina Dobrev
It doesn't matter she isn't blonde anyway, the Elena in the books is different in so many other ways xD ! I love Nina, she's a very good actress who is perfect for Elena and Katherine =D
I'm glad they picked these two. They are perfect and gosh, I'm like obsessed over Ian and his part as Damon xD he's hot! Perfect show. Perfect two. Perfect match!
I like Nina the way she is, better brunette than blond and Ian was the more than perfect choice to play Damon. I am happy this tv-series exists, better than Twilight in every way
Its crazy how books and movies are so diffrent im mean when I read the book I always thought Elena would be with blonde hair but when the show came out Elena was with brown beatuiful hair now I cant picture her blonde ever again
i dont think i would lov VD as much as i do if ian s wasn't cast as Damon. he is just perfect in every sense. Nina is an amazing actress good choice. :P
i never had the chance to read the book but I definitely give a thumbs up for the adaptation for television of the story.. I mean anyone can see the how the show runs... and the followers are amazing!!! I myself would say that the people behind the series are doing their job well. and I think the Kevin Williamson adds this series to his credible works.. probably next to Dawson's Creek... come to think of it some of the teenage angst of the series is a reminiscent of Dawson's .. or is just me..
i think that's going to be interesting to see. i love how the writers go deep into the characters and give them personalities AND reasons why this person would be with that one and so on. you can see a hookup coming on this show and you root for it. that's what i love most about it. idk if i'm at a disadvantage having not read any of the books first or not. maybe i'll read them in the future.
Ian is a great actor. I believe his role 100% and I also love Nina, but I think she does a better job as Katherine. I agree I can't imagine someone else as Damon or Elena.
and seriously everyone , ALL the actors are talented and they bring the story to life! stop posting horrible comments about paul.. its very annoying. He's an extremely talented actor, as are nina and ian n all the others. and Stefan's character is great- very mature n just plain good. Damon ROCKS, n i love him for his dark glamour, but that doesn't being mature is bad, people!
