stefan didn’t turn off his humanity in season 1, he just lost control with blood but he was still somewhat himself and what rose meant was that even when u turn off your humanity it’s only a matter of time until it starts creeping back in. like how we saw a glimps of stefans humanity when he caught elena☺️

Just to clarify a potential confusion: 1. Jeremy can see the ghosts of Supernatural creatures that he has a strong emotional connection to because, unlike Elena, he died of natural causes (gunshot wound), and was revived via unnatural circumstances via Bonnie's magic. 2. Mat can see Vicki because he had a near-death experience from drowning himself (which counts as a natural cause), they had a strong enough connection to allow it, and because Vicki was also getting help from a witch spirit. 3. Stefan never actually flipped his switch in season 1, he just was having trouble kicking his human blood addiction (because he's a "Ripper") and lashed out because of it. This was worsened when Stefan started to have the symptoms of addiction withdrawal, after Damon imprisoned him, which is why Stefan kept trying to push Elena away so he wouldn't hurt her. A Ripper's inability to control their bloodlust is entirely driven by their emotions and morality (only good-natured/pure people, with a large capacity to feel guilty, can become a "ripper" Vampire). 4. Damon never had his humanity off at any point in s1-s3. He just reveled in being a bad boy vampire, gave into his poor impulse control (a lot), and wanted to "punish" Stefan for a variety of reasons. Outside of that, he's repeatedly shown to have emotions but poorly hides it behind a facade to protect himself from getting hurt emotionally. 5. As the name implies, a "humanity switch" is a term coined to refer to a vampire's ability to control his or her humanity-the capacity to feel compassion and empathy, as well as one's own moral inhibitions. Vampires become their worst selves when their humanity is switched off. They can still feel and enjoy the things they like, they just won't care about others (even loved ones) and usually develop toxic egotistical personas, with trigger-happy homicidal tendencies. This especially true for compassionate and kind vampires, who will become extremely cruel, cold, and methodically calculating when their humanity is off. 6. All vampires have a humanity switch, but Vampires with greater control of their abilities can "dim" their humanity switch or outright shut it off at will. Similarly, these vampires can also turn it back on at will; the problem is that most are logical enough to know that they'd start feeling guilt for any atrocity committed when the humanity switch was off, so they choose to not turn it back on. People or events with a strong enough emotional connection to a vampire can trigger the humanity switch to inadvertently "flicker" or outright turn itself back on against the Vampire's will. 7. At a certain age, Vampires will inevitably lose their ability to control their humanity switch (it gets "broken" with age). The series never gives a direct answer to when it occurs, but the implication is that you have to at least be a few centuries old.

I think the how and by whom Stefan recovers his humanity is going to enchant you. This is not a spolier in itself, because it is something that, at some point, you know is going to happen. I adore Stefan without humanity. He gives it that bad touch that I always enjoy but still, I am team Damon in all the facets that he has. With Stefan it only happens to me when he is in "pass all over" mode. Keep it up pretty !!!
The whole "humanity switch" is tricky. The show slowly explains how it works through out the seasons but sometimes it's still confusing. Don't worry we were all there with you as we watched the series, trying to understand how it works. You are right Rose did say in season two that after a while, when you are an older vampire, the "humanity switch" just stops working altogether, but we don't get an exact age either. And just to clarify Klaus only compelled Stefan to "turn it off" so it's up to him to turn it back on. But once again if you have no humanity, why would you want to turn it back if it meant dealing with the consequences of your actions, and letting all those emotions back??... That's just my opinion. I would imagine it would be difficult.

@@andreearamona1 He didn't "turn off" his humanity. Instead, Damon buried it so deep that he would stop feeling all of the pain that 150 years can cause. If it was just as simple as turning it off or on, it wouldn't have taken him so long to find it again.

Now I mentioned season 4 because we have flashbacks with Damon without humanity in New York year 1977, Stefan sends Lexi to turn on his humanity but it failed so we don't know why Damon had humanity turned off so now I don't remember what year he was referring to in the first season to his arrival in Mystic Falls but if I'm not mistaken a 2009, 2010 doing the calculation from 1977 to 2010 33 years have passed you can have year 1953 season 5 Damon turns off his humanity to be able to leave and abandon Enzo knowing that with the access humanity would never have left it there. So if we do the calculation from 1953 to 1977 that we saw it without humanity it was 24 years from 1953 to 2010 it was 57 years you can if you go and think they never showed when Damon has access to his humanity all this time as we have seen in the case of Stefan that there was always Lexi when Stefan was without humanity or without control I also mean that as you know that p To turn on their humanity they always need someone important to them they have to undergo an equally strong emotion to be able to turn it on now if you think about it since Damon turned off his humanity with Enzo when he was able to turn on his humanity? for what? and for whom? if in all these years he has wandered the world in search of katherina far from his brother, far from affections only in the world, alone they cannot turn on their humanity if this is not solicited. Also I love Stefan without humanity as well as being more interesting and sexier but he is also more true and more consistent with himself even if however I in Stefan found that he has two personalities the good and the bad in practice he is the bad and the good he sees what is "good" he denies seeing. When Stefan has Elena in his arms or in a car with fire, his thought was Elena is the demonstration of what I have always said about extinct humanity which does not mean having no emotions. Final moment between the two equally beautiful she subtly shows him her jealousy and he subtly makes him realize that there is no reason to be jealous. I remember when Damon after katherina's disappointment that he wasn't in the crypt and you can he knew he was around the world partying with girls now we saw Stefan doing the same thing and I also remember he told him to Damon that those girls are not dolls to play😂😂 and now he is playing. Even when she is dead, Viky can't make the right choices, she always has to break and above all complicate her brother's life. Another nice detail when Elena calls Damon to find out about Stefan he doesn't tell him he was with other girls partying instead of joking and avoid telling her what she was actually doing. I don't know why this character is so loved to me he completely bores me he helped Klaus hurt Stefan and Elena, Taylor etc. just because after 90 years Stefan fell in love and gave his necklace to someone else and now he keeps poking around to keep ruining lives just for the fun of it, I don't find it interesting. Poor Jeremy and Anna so much I liked the two of them together, I also like Bonnie and Jeremy but it doesn't drive me crazy but Jeremy and Anna are wonderful.
