Ive been vegan since 2001 and go months with no soy other than soy sauce. You DONT need soy if you dont want it. If you want to cut the most weight just eat like what I recommend.

I followed the vegan cyclist because I am vegan myself.

When I came across @TheVeganCyclist channel, I wasn't all that interested at first precisely due to the name. I don't think it's out of line to say that many vegans can be quite insufferable types (not unlike many cyclists). I watched the vid anyway and was pleasantly surprised by the absence of any discussion about his veganism but hooked by his ability to spin a good tale. No pun intended.

He did have lots of vegan excuses though, but he seems to have toughened up.

Blanket generalisations about diet will always cause defensive responses from someone. Nutrition, taste, ethics, morality are all valid considerations when making dietary choices. Michael Pollan’s famous quote is simple and relevant “eat food, not too much, mostly plants”

What makes you think that? A key point in this clip is me saying people can have different food intolerances and a change in diet should take that into account...

There is no way to be an endurance athlete eating carnivore.
@dsonyay
@dsonyay Год назад
Nope. I’m carnivore and never eat carbs. Zero. I cycle two miles a week minimum and never carb up prior to or during a ride. My body uses fat stores for energy and even makes its own glucose when needed. Many endurance athletes are now carnivore. They just don’t say anything because of cancel culture. I know of two marathon runners who have been carnivore for quite a while now. The human body requires zero carbs.

Been vegan for almost 10 years and no difference in my performance, other than easier to keep weight down if I'm eating WFPB. But even then, a piece of steak a week won't make me fat, so not much difference for someone already eating mostly unprocessed. Also not getting sleepy after dinner, but could probably eat vegan fatty meals that would give me the same effect.
@AdamOHalloran

Just like Jesse’s approach to nutrition on the bike, I’m interested in eating what is right for me. I also get the environmental push to plant based diets (to a point). But I don’t agree with the application of morality to my diet. Bees, dairy cows etc. are not being exploited. It’s also ignoring facts, such as “pest control” for vegan friendly crops (e.g. the killing of flocks of Cockatoos on sugarcane crops).
@axelkvarnstrom1826

Would doing what we do to dairy cows be exploitation if it was done to dogs, or humans?
@simplydebes
@simplydebes Год назад
@@axelkvarnstrom1826 Good point. We are starting to control puppy farming in Aus but we don't question the issues involved in dairy farming.
@AdamOHalloran
@AdamOHalloran Год назад
@@axelkvarnstrom1826 I doubt it - at least in terms of dogs. Humans are obviously a different topic. Why do you think dairy cows are exploited? Have you been to a dairy farm?

Not going to argue here, but just ask chatgpt about bees and dairy cows. Example: how are cows abused during dairy milk production. It'll answer you exactly what's wrong, ie. forced impregnation, separation from calves at birth, confined living conditions, slaughter, dehorning and tail docking... Obviously some cow somewhere is treated well and not killed after it's been used up, but most dairy is definitely abuse. And veganism does not ignore pest control, it's about reducing unnecessary suffering of animals and pest control is necessary and not just for taste pleasure. Plus herding cows requires even more pest control since they're food production require pest control itself and is less efficient.
