I am not sure how would that present clinically, but from a rapid search, I noticed that separate pterygoid plate fractures are extremely rare. They are usually associated with fractures of the mandible or Le Fort fractures of the face. Anatomically speaking, no muscles of mastication is attached to the medial pterygoid plate so the movement of the mandible should not be much affected. The medial pterygoid plate provides attachment for nasopharyngeal wall. I would suggest that you ask a faciomaxillary surgeon for precise clinical details.
