My name is Tony. I enjoy long walks along the trail, love tree burls, and have a squeaky backpack.
I thru hiked the Long Trail over 21 days during July and August 2023. This video captures my first week on the trail covering Mile 0 to Mile 104, from Pine Cobble Road to The Inn at the Long Trail.
I almost cried when upon returning home, I discovered my camera settings were inadvertently adjusted, resulting in footage quality well below my expectations. Washed out colors at times and grainy footage in low light. It took a while, but I’m over it.
I take time to record and edit these videos so one day when I’m an old(er) man, I can sit back relive my younger days. In addition, I hope others who love to plan trips like I do over the winter months can possibly gain something from watching. I attempted to capture the reality of the trail with its beauty and challenges, along with interactions with fellow hikers. To aid folks pouring over maps and the guidebook, I added shelter names, road crossings and other points of interest as captions.
Well, I hope you enjoy the video, and it doesn’t suck too bad. LOL

It doesn't suck at all! And I'm not just saying that because I'm your sister. Nice work! I LOVE WOODS, so this was an awesome watch. Waiting patiently, along with the rest of your fans, for the next installment. Love you.

I and many views here really want to thank you for the time you put in to record your hike. We all are in gratitude for the work you put in. I must stay you hike and LT has started the spark in me to do the same and head out on the LT. I live here in Vermont. I heard much about this trail. If viewing your video, it is impressive how much the terrain changes from shelter to shelter and foot path to foot path! Thank you again and I look forward to more of your work. Oh, one last thing could share your insight and training on what you did to perpare for hiking the LT? My humble to y'all The Vermont Cowboy Yeti and his wonder dog Tomikee.

Thank you Ross…or VT Cowboy Yeti!😂 I don’t train specifically for the trail. I work out with weights and a little cardio a few times a week. I feel that the southern 100 miles trained me for the remainder of the trail due to being a bit more mellow than the northern portion.

Thank you Laura. Hopefully, I’ll be done with the second week this week. The quality of footage should have been better, but it still looks decent on paper honestly display. Do not watch in a TV!🤮😂😂😂

Thank you sir. I thought showing shelters would benefit others planning their trips. I know I initially plan my trips around places I would like to visit and cool shelters I would like to stay at. Happy hiking!😁

That’s no joke! I postponed it a couple weeks due to the flooding emergencies from the earlier storms.😳

Awesome stuff! Really good shots and the burl schtick is hilarious! Question... what are you carrying your 7 days worth of food in? Bear can? What size? And do you know your pack weight for a carry that long? Thanks...heading over to week 2!
@twotonadk
@twotonadk 3 месяца назад
@@fearfeasog thank you. I use an Ursack for food storage. My base weight is around 20-21. The heaviest my pack was during this trip was the first week when I had carried 7 days of food. Pack weight was about 34 lbs on day 1.

That’s a cool perspective. I enjoy their company as well. I experienced it in the 100 mile wilderness a few years ago, and enjoyed hiking with them for a week on the LT. Good people.😁
