Watching this makes me feel quite sad. My grandfather used to watch La Liga with me in the late 80s and early 90s. I remember we'd sit around the TV watching El Clasico's and he'd be so happy watching Laudrup play. He was one of his favourite players, the best of that era. The intensity of the battles between Atleti & Real were a particular highlight. His favourite player of any era was Puskas who he got to see play as a young man. Watching this video really takes me back as my grandfather died over 20 years ago.
Be happy that you have such good memories with him, of such a talented player. Watching this video makes me sad that I was too young to watch him live!
I had exactly the same feeling watching this video. Me and my granpa used to watch Real Madrid games together and also he (and me) loved Michael Laudrup. RIP grandpa.
“I have played against Maradona, Platini and Baggio. But the player I saw do the most indescribable things was Michael Laudrup.” - Roberto Galia “To me, Michael Laudrup is the most genius player the world has ever seen. He will always be my numero uno. Always.” - Clemente “In the 1960s, the best player was Pele; in the 1970s, it was Cruyff; in the 1980s, it was Maradona; and in the 1990s, it’s Laudrup.” - Franz Beckenbauer "He had eyes everywhere." - Johan Cruyff "He saw things that nobody else saw.” - Jan Molby “I fully understand why he is considered one of the best players in Barcelonas history and even the world.” - Lionel Messi “When Michael plays like a dream, a magic illusion, determined to show his new team his extreme abilities, no one in the world comes anywhere near his level.” - Johan Cruyff “The best player in the world, I can’t believe he hasn’t won the title as best player.” - Josep Guardiola “Michael was possibly the most skilful and elegant player I ever played with. Few could dribble like he could. He could sense when a game was ready to be seized and transformed by a moment of individual brilliance.” - Ronald Koeman “From more than hundred goals that I scored I’m sure that over 50 were assisted by Michael. To play with him was extremely easy. We found each other by intuition on the field and found common football language. Look at Ivan Zamorano. Laudrup went there (Real) and Zamorano is a goalscorer. Sometimes I envy Ivan for the passes he receives. Passes on foot after you accelerated. Few people understand football like the Danish player. He can only be comprised with Maradona, Schuster or Roberto Baggio. They make things easy and find the right solutions. For them is simple, for the opponent - unthinkable. Phenomenal!” - Hristo Stoichkov “He was phenomenal in Barcelona. He was a fantastic player whom I would love to have on my team today.” - Jose Mourinho “I always say that Laudrup had three eyes, not two like everyone else. As a forward, I had to be aware all the time, because he could make you a chance out of nothing and you had to be prepared for that moment. Michael was a magician and one of the greatest players ever. He was amazing in one-on-ones too.” - Ivan Zamorano “I think maybe Laudrup was the best player I ever played against.” - Luis Figo “He probably had the most individual skill I’ve seen. He was an incredible player.” - Ian Rush “To me he was the best player of his generation and he is a lot like Cruyff both as a player and a manager” - John Toshack "Who is the best player in history? Laudrup." - Andres Iniesta
Michael Laudrup is the most elegant player ever. He is at the same time the most humble which mean that only people with a keen eye for real football recogniced his greatnes - it takes one to know one.
I am Portuguese and seem many of the greats, even see Maradona, Van Basten, Romário, Rui Costa, Figo, Cristiano Ronaldo..but there is simply no player like Michael Laudrup..simply the very best!!!
@@McFlashh in 1999 Laudrup was voted the best foreign player in Spain for the last 25 years. (Other notable foreigners would include Cruyff, Hugo Sánchez, Hristo Stoichkov, Ronaldo, Bernd Schuster, Rivaldo and Luís Figo)
@@McFlashh Andres Iniesta “Who is the best player in history? Laudrup.” Roberto Galia “I have played against Maradona, Platini and Baggio. But the player I saw do the most indescribable things was Michael Laudrup.” Luis Figo “I think maybe Laudrup was the best player I ever played against.” Raul “The best I have ever played with.” Jan Molby “People don’t quite realize how good he was. He was absolutely unbelievable. He was a great dribbler, but he also spotted things. He saw things that nobody else saw.” Franz Beckenbauer “Pele was the best in the 60s, Cruyff in the 70s, Maradona in the 80s and Laudrup in the 90s.” Ronald Koeman “Michael was possibly the most skillful and elegant player I ever played with. Few could dribble like he could. He could sense when a game was ready to be seized and transformed by a moment of individual brilliance.”
The best player I've ever seen. He came across a ball and turned it into magic. Skilfull and sensitive. Awesome ball handling. Perfect passes, excellent playmaker. In addition, he was extremely respectful no matter who his opponent might have been. He was never sent off and was cheered by the crowd so many times that you'd never know where he was playing. Legend.
rifway22, I have seen Maradona, Baggio & Zidane all play, I am Italian & a Napoli fan to & I have been telling people for many years that the best footballer I ever saw was Michael Laudrup ! The two foot dribble, the touch, the roulette, the no look pass, the shooting, had he not been so unselfish he would have scored more, the passing oh the passin! This just reminded me why should be regarded ALONG with Maradona & Pele. Any self respecting football fan should know this player. Messi my arse !
This man was so magic with his love the ball. Surely the world saw many very good midfielders.. Zidane, Ronaldinho, Matthäus, Kroos, Modric, Pirlo, Iniesta, xaxi etc... But Laudrup is a different level, he was like Rieger Federe in tennis is. A Magic elgentant player with natural talent
never been anyone better at through balls, every single one is a work of art - one masterpiece after another. He just edges Zidane for me as the most aesthetically pleasing footballer of all time, as well as clearly being one of the best ever overall.
He had exceptional qualities. Such a master player is rarely seen nowadays. What impress me most are his Laudrup dribble and through passes. What a vision he had. Pure genius of the game
When one of those long passes start all you see is the ball runing and the lines of legs being overcome. You wonder if he had a string tied to the ball.
Yeah dat was the best quality in players of 90's and before... They never dived.. They will fall but rise again and will fight for ball.. Now a days, if u just pass beside a player, player falls on ground and crying so loud as if he is going to die
I remember watching Michael play when i was i kid. I remember his magic. I remember thinking of how sad it would be when he would retire. I remember thinking that we would never ever see a player at his level in Denmark again. Every little bit of my thoughts from then makes so much sense to this day. Sad in a way. At least we still have videos from how great he was. Truly miss him😭
Michael Laudrup had a crystal ball where he could see the future of a football match which gave him the ability to make completely unpredictable moves that left everyone else thinking 'what just happened'? 'how is that possible'? 'oh thats brilliant'!
Honestly the best player I've ever seen. He had it all! And his teammates and coaches said that he didn't try as hard as he should have, in other words he could have been even better!
Totally echo the sentiments below. I don't think any RU-vid video has blown me away as much as this one. Mainly because like most people i knew ML was good but never realised he was as good as this. I am completely speechless right now.
The Best Compilation for The Best Player Ever... The smartest at least. POETRY BECAME FOOTBALL!!! There is real art in his performance, and he was truly fair every second at field... Laudrup really invented the playmaker role in football. Zidane, De la Peña, Iniesta, Messi increased his legacy. Nice music too!! THANK YOU Zainal!! THANK YOU MICHAEL!!
Absolutely briliant compilation. Laudrup played like he was watching himself from a video game perspective. Amazing feets and so many exceptionell passes.
laudrup had a rift with cruyff, not the whole barca squad...he said he was fed up with cruyff...but also said he spent many happy years at barca and is thankful to the fans and the club..and said neither did he go to madrid fr revenge...even though he joined a rival team, he is still adored by barca fans...n were koeman, romario, stoichov, txiki, bakero were some la masia product of the time...
Keep in mind that this is the player that Kruyf, Guardiola and Platini said always only gave 80-90% on the pitch and was a shame he didn't play like he did in training.
The only player in any football code who made football looks like art. I was actually born in the same hospital as Laudrup, in Frederiksberg, Copenhagen, Greetings from Down Under.
This guy.. Is just, i'm speechless. How have i not heard of him? I agree with the top comments, he deserves more recognition. He's a top class player, for sure! ATleast from what i saw.
Thanks for the best Laudrup compilation on the internet. So nice how you put every detail of Laudrups technique together. The passes, the lops, the goals etc. And very interesting that his son Andreas also have an unique talent.
***** where am I gona find footage now, but he has carved teams open setting up many players. USA 94 before he got banned he did this. Mexico 86 final against Germany his through ball led to the only goal, the winning goal. Maradona is the greatest and will always be. Greatest players need controversy, paparazzi mania. he had all that. of course with talent. which he had abundance .
HW TO DESCRIBE A PLAYER HE R?!GENIUS, BEAUTIFUL MIND, TALENTED, KNEW EXACTLY WHERE TO ASSIST, PASS, SHOT TO GOALS, PERFECTLY UNIQUE, MAGICAL, MARVELOUS,MIRACLES,TREMENDOUS,HIGHLY-RATED SKILL..110% SUPERB SPECIAL PLAYER..HES 👑KING OF FOOTBALL MICHAEL LAUDRUP..URE MY SUPERB FAVOURITE PLAYER.. IM ONE OF UR HARDCORE FANS.. IM FROM M'SIA..&IM FELO/ELO/PILO..THANKS ML FOR D GREATEST SHOWS OF UR FOOTBALL MAGICAL CAREERS!?
Wow! That is an amazing collection of Laudrup's performances! Thank you! Truly one of the greatest players ever, and for sure the most elegant of them all. In Denmark he is also called the Ambassadeur!
My favorite player growing up! I am not sure why he does not get the same recognition as Zidane or Ronaldinho. He had the technical ability of the Argentinian with the athleticism of a German. One of a kind!
Heard a lot about him while growing but both Laudrup bros were retired already.. Now I know..! Too classy.. Wannabes and pretenders these days playing scratchy football better watch him and learn the art of ball possession.. #Genius#Elegance#class#Art#
firstly, barca didnt betray him, he left on his own cause of his differences with cruyff. n secondly, no cule hated him for it. his contribution to the dream team had overshadowed everything. laudrup is the best playmaker.
It is beautiful to see ...a pity that generations change and football don't always remains as beautiful ... my Brazil is not the same without Ronaldo for example
Laudrups two-foot dribble is just mindblowing fast and well executed. Furthermore probably the most elegant and cat-like movement with the ball ever seen in football. I remember people standing up and expecting magic everytime he received the ball. However, he was never the goal scoring machine that Messi and Ronaldo are today, and was always very dependent on good team mates unlike a player like Maradona who created victory all by himself....
He was never the goal scoring machine like CR7 or Messi coz he was playing 40 meters behind of the goal keeper, Messi was playing as a Forward his whole career and CR7 is a super heroe, i can't explain why he do what he is doing day by day... Maradona what??? Is the same to play for Argentina than play for Denmark right????
Not in hid early years. Then he played as a striker, and although good he never leaped to the qualities of top strikers when it came to goal scoring abilities. He even admits it himself...
Laudrup got more succes than Maradona in Spain. The trouble if you make look to easy you blame the opponent instead. Not see the skill. That is what great masters try to achieve. Use as little with most effect. Especially as martial artist. Laudrup actually been attacker lots of times. He had no trouble scoring. But that is a waste of his talent. So you can't say that he is not an attackker
I think he is Xavi and Iniesta combined.. The way he disorganised the opposition defence with his passes directly and accurately to the goal scoring position is out of this world..
I remember seeing him for the first time in 1986 world cup. At that tournament there was also Zico, Socrates, Careca, Falcao, Diego Maradona, Bruno Conti, Enzo Scifo, Hugo Sanchez, Micheal Platini, Alain Giresse, Jean Tigana, Emilio Butragueno, Preben Elkjær Larsen, Lothar Matthäus as well as himself. All classy players and legendary. The last world cup? Ronaldo, Messi, Iniesta and maybe Van Persie? Tells you something about modern football these days.
Best playmaker ever. The one Iniesta and Xavi wants to be. Out of world vision and the most incredible passing skills ever. Took a tiny nation to two World Cup Quarter finals and won 7 league throphies. 5 in a row in Spain. Bow down, folks, bow down!
It is very hard to compare footballers over time, but to me Laudrup and Zidane are the best....they maid football into art with their elegance and vision.....I remember seeing Barca play in the early 90´s and Laudrup made a chance almost everytime he was on the ball....everybody knew it, everybody expected it....the just could not stop it.
Iniesta: "Who is the best player in history? Laudrup. Stoichkov: "Laudrup was the greatest. Figo: "I think maybe Laudrup was the best player I ever played against. Koeman: "Michael was possibly the most skilful and elegant player I ever played with. Few could dribble like he could. Clemente: "To me, Michael Laudrup is the most genius player the world has ever seen. He will always be my numero uno. Always.
Amazing tribute to a amazing person. He is 48 today and can still pull of many of the tricks show in the vid, even put some of the younger boys to shame with his natural talent. He lives for football, keeping it fresh for 40 years.
Laudrup is probably the only one who played for the 3 teams with the most talented players in the last 30/35 years: Real Madrid, Juventus and Barcelona
The best dribbler the world has ever seen....even greater than Messi. He's also one of the greatest passers of history. Grossly underrated in the grand scheme of things, Laudrup just wreaked havok on defenses. Legend gets thrown around a lot, but Laudrup is among the greatest players ever to lace them up, a true legend.
No way better than MESSI! You gotta be kidding me!!! He was good but no way! better than Lionel! Messi is much much superior in dribbling, speed and scoring goals. Messi is also turning into a great Playmaker with great vision and creativity. I can say the Danish player was outstanding and had a simple and effective dribbling. He was a Barcelona player from 89 to 94 and scored 49 goals in over 160 games....
+Rafael F. Bocanegra messi played as a cf for most of his career and laudrups job was to supply the likes of romario and stoichkov as he was one of the best playmakers alive not goalscorers
+Rafael F. Bocanegra Laudrup played for Lazio, Juventus, Barcelona, Real Madrid, Ajax and the Danish national team. Everywere he made a huge difference no matter who he played with. Yes, he very much depended on his team mates in order to succed, but he always fought for his position as a playmaker and won it. Messi is truly amazing, for sure, but he only ever played in one club that always surrounded him with top players. So the comparison is difficult to make. But where Messi is a goal machine, Laudrup was an elegant and very effective playmaker, one of the best ever!
He is the best 'touch' player in history, this is what made him able to make those impossible passes, he relied on touch and keeping ball close to feet and when he needed time and to reassess, he would push ball further either diagonally left or right, more left than right, this enabled his head to be up far more than other players. He was unique.
I actually can't stop watching this video! I think I'm obsessed! Romario said ML was the best player in history after pele, maradona himself and Zidane. I know Zidane won more trophies but I would say he is better than him. Romario was just the most elegant finisher I've ever seen and maradona is the greatest. Pele was great for brazil but all this pish posh about 1200 goal playing in Brazilian an US league carries no weight with me. Overall I would say: Maradona, Romario and Laudrup are top 3.
