House/Wilson again. I just had to make a video to this song. (Music: "The Vicodin Song" by Terra Naomi) (Please be kind to comment on the video and take your drug-abuse stories elsewhere.)
He did a good job putting this character on stage as he did. Straight forward as in brutal truth, intelligent, genius and he knows people will need him in the end. Ironic thing is he shows that he could handle things on his own but then again he does need Wilson alot too. One of the best tv-shows I have seen so far =)
From times to times when I'm felling real bad or sad I come here and watch this video and listen to this song, sometimes two, three or even more times in a row. It doesn’t makes me stop filling the way I am but somehow it comforts me. Thanks for postint it.
Great Song lol. One of the many reason why my mom loved him so. Finally someone that she could relate to and kept her from feeling so alone. Plus helped teach her to laugh at herself. Thank god she's never had it as bad as him, but the madness still has us laughing at him & ourselves. Will have to show this one to her someday. Thank you for the memories.
It takes a good portion of my pain away. Took an IED in Afghanistan on my 4th combat tour in the Rangers. Saw some heavy shit. Ptsd and long term injuries. I can't really function without a fair amount of opiods and benzos and weed these days. Ironically im an arms and h2h trainer and competition pistol shooter idpa. Mainly 1911 sig sauer .45 acp and revolvers. Cant really do rifle shots these days having lost an eye. I do okay though since im cross dominant. Anyway...trying to get off of pills and heroin is the 3rd hardest thing ive ever done n sometimes feels the hardest. Which is saying a lot since i saw significant combat
thx. sometimes i need this after getting all the crap i get on a daily basis . so i have to thank you for this and House used to be one of my fave shows .
well.... no cuz I go an incureable kinda thing that cauzez me lotz and lotz of pain and I need the meds. but there is a point that you come where the meds. become a problem too. there is no simple awanser. I have been doing better and decreasing my meds. so I'm not giving up hope... and that makes my MOM happy.
Oh, WOW. Never heard that song before, but it's great for House/Wilson and a rather dysfunctional relationship where Wilson KNOWS his best friend is a drug-addict but still writes his 'scrips. Not HAPPY but fitting for them. Great vid
I'm glad that somebody made this fanvid - it was just something that had to be done some time. Terra wrote this when she was taking Vicodin after an operation to repair a smashed arm from a car accident and didn't know if she'd ever play the guitar again. As an ex-Heroin addict Terra knows all about he dangerous lure of drugs.
"If it makes you happy, it can't be that bad" ~ Sheryl Crow... Been listening to this song since you had to buy versions from her shows before the UK release on her ill fated label. Terra is great, though she doesn't seem to throw the swears in as much any longer and steers more toward uplifting songs. Even this one is a 'hidden song' after a bunch of air on the UK disc I had to have shipped to me from England.
House is fictional, but I know for a fact that there are many doctors, nurses, & other very intelligent functional people with addictions just like him. And it isn't dumb to look up to them--they can be very inspiring.
Man, that was such a great opportunity that they missed. They should have used that song for the end of last season. People would have thought they made the song for the episode or something and it would have been great exposure for Terra too. And it's a great song in any case.
I still think House and Wilson are gonna end up lovers in the end. There's too much romance between those two as it is. Seriously, you can tell they are both in love with each other. I bet the show ends with them getting together.
I've only ever taken pain meds for chronic pain. I am not judgmental about folks who take pain meds for other reasons. But their experience makes it harder for those of us with medical issues to get pain control. People assume that those with pain are "looking to get high." Which is not fair. There should be a better system.
The Vicodin Song by Terra Naomi u can get it on itunes. its a hidden track so if u want it, buy the song "Something Good to Show You" on her album, Under the Influence
Dr House is such cool guy, I wish that I was him... He's so confident, and even though he's grumpy all the time, people like him 'cause he can make them laugh while, in the same time, he's grumpy as hell! He's cool even when he's grumpy haha :))
@irathon Right--taking excessive amounts of acetaminophen (Tylenol)--a component of Vicodin--not only harms one's liver, but also impairs one's hearing.
When House went on a date with Cameron in season 1 (2?) everybody wanted House to behave, except Wilson, who went to Cameron, because he was afraid if House (not Cameron) would get hurt. That says it all :) They got a special bond between them. And even though there have been moments where I really don´t get why Wilson didn´t walk away because House did something unforgiveble to him I do hope that they will last forever.
well, thankfully, I don't have a history of addictive behavior, and the one person who could actually get me the drug would be sure he spotted me and made sure I didn't take it in any means to actually 'cope' with anything; you know, make sure of the setting and everything.
What people don't consider is adversity breeds brilliance. House himself has worried it's his "flaws" that make him great, so when i say I want to be like House, I mean all inclusive @67DieHardPatriot454 Not once in history has comfort brought about greatness.
Vicodin or any other opioid addiction can lead to the loss of pretty much everything of importance. 12 years clean but still wishing I could go back in time and stop myself from ever swallowing one pill.
@MissEsmeralda1988 Near the end of the first season, in the episode "Three Stories" he tells the med students about a drug addict who comes into the clinic with leg pain. It is revealed that the drug addict is indeed House.
Well - we can have a bit of fun while we're miserable, can't we? The whole point of self-abuse is self-gratification. And if self-gratification is good enough..then so be it ;-) "Remember, Evil spelled backwards is Live And we all want to do that, now don't we, Zip?"
I was going through methadone AND benzo withdrawals at the same time, I started having these really bad ticks and spasms in my eye and forehead on top of all the wonders of opiate withdrawal, metahdone is just like, 5x worse, it's ridiculous. OXy is no cakewalk, I know, but if I can get off of it I'm sure you could, I was horrible when it came to self-control and it's taken 4 years but I'm finally getting some control over my life. You could taper using subs or vicodin or even using OC or morph
@MrFudgyTV no he takes pain pills because of the inner pain he feels... as we watch the show,we learn about house's inner pain. and also his outer pain. I love it that he does vicodin and pain pills.. its not the best way but hey.. we all have are fault . . . ~everybody Lies~

literature/popular media are full of flawed "heroes." House's management of his pain and suffering and its panacea are highly idealized elements of mythic conflict. Just wrapped up in a "modern" package. The writing, the characterization, and yes, even the cornball platitudes, for the most part, work. Does this mean that an ordinary individual could pull off the same regimen and still perform their daily tasks and responsibilities? Every junkie thinks they can. And therein lies its charm.
sorry i should have clarified that i do have chroninc pain.i do not use pills for fun.ive been taking pills for six years and its the only way to keep comfortable.i sorry i posted the last message in the manor i did.
That's much better than making it want you to take vicodin like videos of House often do. Though I'm prescribed them legally. as well as methadone, and clonazepam. Most people don't believe me when I say I get all of those but I do, and I have a whole bottles of 'em in front of me right now, lol. Good thing I got some self control, I know people who'd rob me at knifepoint or gun-point for these.
@67DieHardPatriot454 When people say that the want to be like House, not everyone means the vicodin addiction(perhaps nobody). Personally I admire this character because of his intelligence and the way he handles the situations with his patients and, generally, people. That doesn't mean I would end-up with an addiction. I think that being in his place is cool for that reason, the good side of House. P.S. excuse me for the bad English...
@speirs2479 Agreed. I would love to have the wit, the genius and the moments of epiphany but instead I got the cane, the pain and the brokenness. It's not all it's cracked up to be.
