This is a full review of the Victorinox Cyber Tool Lite, the best Victorinox knife for techies. The Victorinox Cyber Tool Range is fully explored with a detailed review of the Victorinox Cyber Tool Lite version of this multitool knife.
My name is Jonathan, I have a passion for all things 'gadget, travel and EDC' which has filled both my personal and work life for many years. This includes sourcing, reviewing and product development and the creation of two UK national retail chains. Find out more here: • About Jon Gadget - Who...

I welcome any feedback on my videos or the channel in general. Thank you for taking the time to read this.

Product Sourcing:
When it comes to sourcing a product for review, I will usually either purchase an item personally or reach out to a supplier requesting a sample for review. Most suppliers, after seeing the channel, are supportive if they are confident in their product, appreciating the value of greater exposure.
I am sometimes asked to review a product by a supplier which I will only agree to if the product fits the channel and I believe will be of interest to you, my audience. Also the product needs to be worthy of a review. It is not in my interest to review inferior or poor quality products and therefore as you might expect many requests are politely declined.
Any sponsored videos (paid for reviews) are clearly stated as such so there can be no misunderstanding. Even with sponsored reviews I will only agree to a sponsorship on products and services which I believe will be of genuine interest to viewers.
I will always make reference in the video to products which have been provided for review by a supplier and I always make it clear to the supplier that they cannot influence or be involved in the review in any way if they choose to supply a product.
Sometimes a supplier will provide a link to the product or the supplier which I am happy to include in the description. Sometimes I will be provided with an affiliate link so I can earn a commission on sales and this helps to support channel costs but never at the expense of an honest review.
If a product I have reviewed is available from Amazon I will often include an Amazon link in the description. As an Amazon Associate I earn from qualifying purchases. If you purchase a product or service with the links that I provide I may receive a small commission. There is no additional charge to you.
Comments:
I really appreciate the feedback in the comments - I find it a source of knowledge and inspiration - so thank you to all of you who take the time to contribute. I have recently found that if I continue to respond to all the comments as the number of videos builds, it takes time away from being able to produce new content which would be very counter productive! - so my aim is to read everything I can and reply when I can, after each video goes live, until the next video goes live a week later. I'll see how that works out 😊
Thank you for supporting the channel so I can continue to provide you with regular reviews, thoughts and ideas and (hopefully) inspiration! Please consider subscribing to keep up to date with new video releases, and if you want to be notified when a new video is released, don’t forget to hit the notification bell.

Good review, just one correction - none of the bits are Pozidriv. All three are Phillips (0, 1 and 2). For some reason Victorinox describes the two smaller ones on their website as “Bit Phillips 0/1 (Pozidriv)”, possibly because you can use a Phillips bit with a Pozidriv screw in a pinch. I own the Cyber Tool M, which to me is the best of the variants. I do not need the saw and file, which would just make the knife unnecessarily big and heavy. And I do not want electronics on my knives either; I would worry about cleaning them with water, and I always carry a better flashlight with me anyway. I would like the magnifying glass, but in the end the camera on my phone does an even better job.

If im honest SAKs are why i came to the channel, them and Olight torches. I stayed for an English accent and UK £ pricing and the concise reviews. I have titanium scales on my cybertool but as hinted at above i always have a torch so i don't have any lite models. It's probably as a collector of well over a 100 SAKs in my top 5 Swiss Army Knife models

Daily living: Can openers are not for the field anymore. They are for people like me who will eat fruit and veggies from the can when on the road (cheap) . Few people carry canned foods to the field anymore with all the other container options. Toothpick is also necessary for eating away from home (the apple skin stuck between teeth ha). The scissors is the only tool I use on my fingernails since a file is not needed after unlike when I used clippers. The tweezers works better than any other tweezers on tiny slivers. The magnifying lens for seeing the micro slivers and reading fine print. So I beg to differ on any of those tools being for field use but rather for those of us that spend our day away from home without a travel bag with toiletries and such. I enjoy your reviews and hope that when you say something is not needed on a particular model that it is regarding you and your life or situation. Afterall, for most of us MacGyver types, the multi took is for multi situations :)

Great review as always. I’ll admit to being somewhat of a collector as I have all of the Cybertool models. My preference is the large which used to be the Cybertool 41. I actually prefer over the Swisschamp because many of my other knives and gear use torx screws and it’s great to be able to tighten and loosen them in the field. By the way, the Cybertool L/41 has the backside tools like the Swisschamp so there is that plus as well. Love your videos and can’t wait for the next one.

Wonderful review! I have been binging quite a few of your videos today and subscribed. I edc a Cyber Tool M with custom scales that have a ruler and an extra slot which allows for the addition of a firefly ferro rod without having to remove the tooth pick. I find the Cyber Tool M offers a versatile tool-set while remaining significantly more pocket friendly than the Cybertool L or Cybertool Lite. While I also own a Cyber Tool Lite, it mostly stays in the drawer because I edc an Olight baton and my cell phone has a built in magnifier.

Great review Jon! Fantastic job on reviewing the whole line of Cybertools. L model is the one for me and after this review my shopping basket just got heavier ) it pretty much minimises my current setup into a single tool. Now I got the following tools in my EDC: Knipex Cobra XS (that one is preps irreplaceable) BIG idea design Bit Bar Tec Accessories pocket Pry TwoSun Ti Pen Vix Compact One thing I'd do to a Cybertool L is switch translucent scales to titanium ones and add a Ti pocket clip from TecAccessories and be jolly and happy ever after. As a knifenut I have a question - can you get a T6 bit as well from Victorinox to add/substitute to the setup? Thanks again. Great job!

Bravo Jon, great review, short succinct, and to the point. Question, depending on one's carry method, is there a chance of the light somehow being accidentally turned on when carried in a sheath, be it a Victorinox or aftermarket? Also, what is the width in comparison to the Swisschamp? Plus what material is the bit carrier constructed of.. One last thing, you're not old mate, have a pint at the pub, and watch a rerun of "On the Buses" on me.. Cheers!

just got the cybertool m, I am planning to split it into 3 tools: pliers, screwdriver, awl and the blade section (replacing the large blade for a file, small blade is enough for my needs). the can opener etc section with the corkscrew (easy enough to move) and scissors with the hook. I will print some scales for it but I think that will be the best combo I can have, will probably end up ignoring the can opener section but having scissors and pliers operable by different hands is useful imo. Looking forward to replacing a few tools I carry with it.

My Swiss Champ with black scales is apparently an old fogey in the lineup. No parcel hook on the back, and no opening for a pin. It has the gray plastic frame for the magnifying glass too. I've been carrying it for many years. Until I started watching these videos, I didn't even realize they added things like the pin and parcel hook.

Hi Jonathan, I always enjoy your reviews. I was a computer tech, back in the day and I have owned, used and abused my original blue scaled CyberTool (now known as CyberTool M) for the past 20 years. I personally don't need the magnifying glass and light, but would like the saw, file and chisel that also come on the CyberTool L, however, I don't like the placement of the tools on the L. The bit driver is way off centre on that model. You say that for a tech tool, you don't need the saw and file, or can opener for that matter. What I would like though, is a tool that covers tech, urban and outdoor, all in one SAK. I have purchased a Ranger, which I plan to remove the saw and file layers from, thus downgrading it into a climber, which I'll probably never use. I will then add these layers to my Cyber M, turning into an L special, with the bit driver centred. I already have the required 2.2mm and 2.5mm brass rods to make the new pivots. To me, this will be the ultimate SAK. It will miss the fish de-scaler and 3D Phillips of the Champ and the aforementioned mag-glass and torch of both Champ and Cyber L, but none of those are losses to me, compared to having bit driver, file, saw and chisel. Each to their own.

It is a very well made and useful tool set. The only problem I encounter is that the light frequently turns on by accidental contact between the switch (which is actually quite exposed) and another service when you are carrying the knife day to day. I often found therefore that when I went to use the torch the batteries were flat. There is a simple solution to this problem. Reverse one of the battery cells. They are easily accessible and it does not take long to reverse back again when you want to use the torch.

Hi Jon, I was away so, I have to catch up with your vids. Cibertool is also a niche tool, but there is Victorinox for everyone and that's great. About the can opener, it is redundant on this model, but it has this classic look. And actually I still use it to this day. By the way just got my Handiman back from Victorinox Warranty service, and I have to tell you, they're warranty is great. It is like new. I have sent my Rebar for second replacement, because the small screw driver broke. These are the tools I need. A few of them like the hook, will probably never be used. The M in blue would be awesome but I can't find it. The scissors, bit driver, the small flat head in the corkscrew, the tweezers, and the knife blade is what I need the most, but the pliers, lite, and the magnifying glass would be useful sometimes. I would get the M and that's what I was looking for but it's so close to the price of the lite, I might as well get the lite. Thanks for the video. It really made me think of everything I could use the tools for.

Thanks, Jon - the reason I asked is that I have a wire cutter at the base of the pliers in my Swisschamp above the crimpers...you really can't cut wire of any significance with it, but such a tool would be ideal for the applications you were demonstrating...also, the wire stripper can additionally be used with the pliers as a wire bender...thanks again for your good work...

I recently got a SwissChamp, and I think my favorite “new to me” tool on the knife is the pliers… I find them very useful. …but the SwissChamp is too heavy for EDC, so I’m looking for a smaller knife that includes the plier… so as far as I know, my options are only the Deluxe Tinker and CyberTool. the Tinker is missing the corkscrew, though, and the CyberTool might again me too big, so I can’t decide 🤷🏻‍♂️ and I wish they’d change out the smaller knife blade for the new small file on the new Companion, and maybe give me an option for just the phillips head/LED light lager, rather than the multi-bit driver system, and that might just be my perfect 91mm SAK 🤔

I had to send mine back to Amazon as the batteries were flat. The batteries were already installed in this. Was this same with you? Not sure if I want to buy it again because of the limited selection of bits. I thought it would be good for rc but need more hex sizes. Idk.. The pliers are good. The scissors were surprisingly rough to use. I wonder why they couldn't build the led in the scale. My midnight manager is fantastic! Everything I need day to day close to hand and lightweight 😌

The plastic toothpick could be used to flip dip switch’s or as a nonconductive probe in fine electrical work

Jon, is there a comb attachment that one could buy to install? Really enjoy your videos even if the model is not my cup of tea.
@JonGadget
@JonGadget 2 года назад
Victorinox don't do one - aftermarket modders might but I've not seen one on a Vic - there are other makers who include a comb but quality does not look that good!

A friend has a Cybertool and has found that the transparent scales don't seem to really securely retain the scale tools over time quite like the cellidor ones do. Perhaps they are not flexible enough?

It's way too bulky for my liking. The only CyberTool I could see myself using would be the CyberTool S (identical in size and weight to the Huntsman for anyone wondering - and this is the smallest CyberTool).

With a little bit of grinding, the can opener can be modified to be a hook knife - pefect for opening taped boxes. Here's Felix Immler's tutorial: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-ZhVDMvByjyA.html

I want ask your opinion about Victorinox evolution 16. Isn’t it better than Victorinox Compact?
@JonGadget
@JonGadget 2 года назад
Hi Misho - I mean to do an Evo comparison at some point but for a version with scissors it will not be as thin as the 2-layer Compact - which is a key benefit of the Compact for EDC.

my main complaint with this model is the screwdriver bits fall out too easily, and they are impossible to see, once they hit the ground they literally disappear. i wish they were painted a more visible colour and locked into the screwdriver better
