I tried this amp at my local music store 2 days straight. Wow, this amp is amazing. I played the 6L6 version. Don't be fooled. This amp is loud. Lots of headroom.
Not wanting to sound negative, but i feel my comment is useful. I understand that everyone has different tone taste as far as.. creamy dynamic low gain bluesy stuff to this which i would call 80s glam rock high gain, But if this was a versatile amp I want to hear all tones, nothing against rob as a player at all but for the purpose of this video Joss and Pete would be great along with two different gtars. If you had a negative experience with this video for some reason, I understand Anderton's is giving refunds for it....ohhh wait...just heard the content was completely FREE. So given that, just turn it off and watch something else. I happen to think the Toska dudes would have the best progressive blues band in Europe if they wanted to do it, but they love the djent stuff - I don't crack on their videos just because I'D rather hear them go another (bluesier) direction. They do what they do. Same with Rob. I don't complain about someone's playing because they use a tone that isn't my favorite cup of tea. Stupid me, I just appreciate the free content...
Great video as per usual. I appreciate the positive vibes and commitment to fun and business. With Rob, Lee, Pete and Rabea ya'll have 4 differing sounds. Not to mention the guest players !!! I do not understand the critics of either playing or choice of product. I would hope you would only review items you like and actually stock for sale !!!! I always keep in mind that if you are not running a profitable business, there will be no product to review !!! Keep up the stellar work all of you and THANKS !!!
@Andertons Music Co @Rob Chapman, Thanks for putting out all of the various videos you've been doing over the years. V30 didn't fit my ears very well but I'm assuming "live" it would sound much different that through a RU-vid video, so I tend to ignore the actual sound on all of your reviews in favor of hearing them in person. But thanks for exposing me to a lot of varied gear and reviewing various functions and features, it helps me narrow my searches. I've enjoyed the various "personalities" now for sometime and it's good to see everyone play various styles. I probably bashed on Mary Spender in a less than mature way and in hindsight I'd probably suggest that you have her creat vocal oriented video reviews. Just could never get behind the "I Always Wanted to Try.........", orientation, kept thinking "what's in it for me". But then Mary is a very talented "performer" and maybe she'd rather perform that review, just saying. Having said all that.............after reading a lot of the reviews on this video I couldn't help thinking there's a lot of whiney people out there. Nothing wrong with constructive criticism but OMG. I hope these videos make EVERYONE at Anderton's a LOT OF MONEY, because I can't see any other reason to make them. Because if you're making them to benefit the consumer in any other way. then I wouldn't even mess with it. Very impressive tones. The cleans are crystal and I love the crunch setting, as the Captain says, some great blues sounds. Even the heavy gain has nice clarity and I'm not a big amp distortion channel fan
Oh my, sublime tones in a lunchboxformat, with the Govan-button on the back as a bonus. My opinion is not only based on this demo, I listened Rabea's demo for Victory as well.
I own a v30 and it is downright fantastic but it is no where near as bright as I’m hearing in this video? Very fat low end even with the Nomod switch disengaged. The amp is just stellar and I love how it sounds here and in my basement.
The "out of phase" sound on that Charvel is killer. Also, I think Rob and Chappers should have someone look through the negative comments on all their videos, compile a list of all the things that the haters hate, then make a video doing all of those things, without saying anything about it. Just to generate more negative comments.... it'll be the best troll video ever!!
I bought the MKii. I was between the Friedman JJ Jr and the V30 mkii. After playing them both first about an hour each I went with the victory. Both are incredibly amps and you would not be disappointed with either, but the victory I felt was more feature rich especially on the clean channel.
Sure it's a great amp but after being crushed by youtube it sounds very much like any other decent amp with a bit of drive or gain. I'd like to hear more of the clean-clean signal no effects with different guitars and Single coils, humbuckers P-90s etc. to get an idea of the versatility. Thanks and keepup the good work.
I see all these nasty comments about rob and victory quit being bitter he slammed a victory amp just like a week back even if this is promotion so what this is the mans job you would do the same damn thing keep it up fellas love the videos......and truth is most of them are just jealous they cant shred
Not sure if you guys look here for any video ideas, but have you considered a baritone round-up? (And maybe throw in some interesting bits like the Bass VI) Wonderful vid once again!
It would be interesting to see if the mkii is still more defined when you boost the bass. May be able to retain the definition while keeping a fatter tone.
Didn't mean that as a dig -- I like the ones where he plays along with someone else, such as Lee. Also prefer Pete, but generally more than one player is best (except when its just Pete...)
Maybe it's just me or a pedal or something? ..but I detected a harsh-ish overtone in there somewhere in the dirt tone. Interesting. Never heard that in a Victory before. Cleans sounded great.
TheElrondo i mean yeah but if you are looking for a stellar clean amp this thing is probaby not the best bet. V40 is the clean.beast. the cleans on these amps are good but with the shared EQ its gonna suffer a bit as far as your perfect clean tone goes because for me i dial in my dirt sound (the sound i use the most) and the clean is secondary.
Justin Neafsey Good point and thanks for the hint to the V40, but... I like to hear some clean tones also in an amp demo. There i start juding an amp. Maybe it's my age but that's how i did since 1973 when i purchased my first amp. Take it easy and ✌ out
Sidney i know. Thanks anyway. This wasn't a very informative demonstration. Normaly if i test an amp i start with clean. Fiddling around with the EQ. How does it react and so on. Damn that things bright... I wish you had demoed it a bit with the treble dialed back a bit. The nomod was too muddy almost but I wonder what it would sound like with the treble turned down a bit and the mids up a bit.....(on the mark 2 version)
Question for everyone.....I have a mk1 version and it is too dark, compressed and gainy. Even with the gain on 2! Would a swap out of the tubes to 6L6 help?
I run a Countess V4 preamp pedal into a Mooer Radar now. It's unreal. Very similar sounds to the amp version in this video, but the Mooer gives you a ton of flexibility in power amps, cabs, and mics. I think it's the guitar rig of the future.
Rob, you don't have to worry about being biased. Once you disclose that you're connected to the product you're reviewing, you're safe. :-) Just like when newspapers and news channels disclose when they're reporting on something that their parent company is involved in. Opinion away dear sir!
So does the MKII with nomod setting sounds the same as the original one? Wondering if its worth the money to buy MKII over used MKI just for the crunch mode.
I was referred to this channel after buying a chapman, I had no idea who Rob or the captain was when I did and after watching heaps of Rob's and Anderton's videos I've heard more ringing endorsements for PRS than Chapman guitars.

The V40 would be a better pedal platform. I have the V30 mk2. I ended up selling all my overdrive pedals except one when I bought it. You truly don't need any with this amp. The one that I kept was the prince of tone. It fits perfectly on the clean, crunch and drive channel. The ones I sold are: lovepedal amp11, blackface deluxe, 5e3 Tweed deluxe, nobles odr1, Wampler Tom quale, and the Wampler plexidrive deluxe. This amp replaced $700 worth of overdrive pedals. It is a great amp. But if you really want a pedal platform amp go with the V40. It was designed as a pedal platform. The V30 has a far to wide dynamic range and can leave most overdrive pedals sounding brittle on the top end that I couldn't dial out. The prince of tone is one of few that has a sweet top end that works great on this amp.
@@therangersingerhey, are you still using the V30? There's one selling for 1k used. It's the first iteration. I was thinking about V40 but I'm not sure if it's capable of higher gain sounds (Lukather, Huff, Landau)
@@emdbluesthe V40 is definitely not capable of any higher gain, if you want higher gain definitely go V30. I sold everything a few years ago and currently use a helix and power cab. Do I miss the V30...yes. do I miss the V40. Not one bit.

Looking for opinions. Anyone here that owns the jack, what do you think of it? Would I be wrong to think that with the crunch mode as an option that that would affect the tone of the amp? I know that the EQ had been adjusted due to some of the “criticisms “that were given to the previous model. Criticisms being if it was voiced dark and slightly Bass heavy. I know that it has the nomad switch which changes it back to the voicing of Mark one. But would I be wrong in thinking that if you adjusted mids and and treble to be a little bit higher and turn down the bass that you could achieve the same sound in Mark one? Or with the sound still be different enough? also if it’s being run through the matching 2x12 with the v30 speakers
