The difference between Peter's reaction after having denied our Lord three times; and Juda's having 'betrayed' our Lord...by selling him for a few pieces of silver is immense. Peter had much sorrow 'repentance' after realizing what he had just done, that he cried and repented to such a degree that our Lord left him in charge of the Church he called "My Church". Judas on the other hand; committed the sin of 'despair'; and because of his lack of faith he hung himself. Even though they were both previously chosen as disciples. Thus; the reason for praying for a good death, is so important. The sin against the Holy Spirit which cannot be pardonned is refusing salvation it seems. Yes. This is such a hard world. I've been in 3 catholic churches, Baptist. Nazarene, Pentecostal (scares me.......) I wish the word wasnt so miss interpreted by man. I stay out of the church read the bible and try to figure out Gods word on my own and I speak to those who dont believe and they listen and they love to listen to my findings. I even have a young lady at work curious to open her Bible. I felt so happy

Saying the Father and the Son are Parents of the Holy Spirit is simply another way of saying "the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son" which has been official Catholic doctrine for centuries. The Church teaches that the Son is begotten from the Father. If this is true, the Father is the Father (Parent)of the Son. The Church teaches that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son. If this is true, the Father and the Son are the Parents of the Holy Spirit. Of course, the scriptures are vague if the Holy Spirit is the 3rd or 2nd Person of the Trinity, whichever of these is true, the 1st and the 2nd may be the Parents of the 3rd.

Paula Humbracht i had the same experience. Though I didn’t leave the Roman Catholic church but I was influenced so much by Protestantism. God revealed the importance of my Catholic faith in my life and I’ve never been happier. It’s more calm, serene, and the clarity is overwhelming. But the battle to fight against sin goes on until the day of our death, hence we should always be watchful and prepared. I’m just thankful how God loved us so much He gave us Mama Mary, all the angels and saints to pray for us. Praise be Jesus and Mary, forever. Amen.

I'm pure Catholic by the way , I prayed for the Holy Ghost to guide me I've been struggling because I didn't know other Catholics were accused of worshipping idols and statues and worshipping mary , prayer for the dead , the bad papacy. Everything has been answered I've been innocent on those things since when I was a young.I just turned 19 this August ,God answered all my prayers especially when SEEKING ANSWERS and gave me the most humble and lovely girl(she was a Born Again Christian). But you know , she didn't even invite me to their so called praise and worship service she accepted me being Catholic I've attended their worship service because her friends and parents invited me to It'd hard to refuse because I'm assuming that I'm disrespecung their beliefs but I totally do respect them. I didn't even know why and how is that , She accepted me of who I am. Hello, I was raised Catholic all my life and attended mass but I always felt empty and wondered why God couldn't speak to me like He did to other people in the Bible. So I started to study the Bible and pray asking God to guide me. And I came to find the truth from God and that is only Jesus Christ is the only way to God. There is no such thing as Mary's intercessions or saints, purgatory or confession to priests. If you are searching for truth with your honest heart allow God to lead you and not man, because man errors many times Jeremiah 29:13 And ye shall seek me, and find me when ye shall search for me with all your heart. Jesus said, God is spirit and true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. Let the Lord lead you. Shiko M if God could speak to ancient prophets, and give them commandments to give to the people, both long before and after He had died, then it begs the question, why not now? After some review of the Old Testament, one can see that, once Moses was dead, Joshua led the Israelites in his stead. He spoke with God and angels, gave commandments, made scripture, and other things. When he was dead, another came and spoke with God and angels, gave commandments, made scripture, and other things. This continues until, surprise, surprised the Jews were tired of listening to God, and instead preferred listening to Satan. The prophets were killed, or got too old, and nobody rose to replace them, because the people were way too wicked. Then, when they were righteous enough, God sent more prophets. For a time, the prophets were accepted, before getting killed and the people went back to being without prophets. Sometimes, however, the people were so wicked, that God sent prophets anyway, to warn them to repent or be destroyed. That rarely worked out well. You may think this cycle of prophets are introduced/killed ended with Jesus, but that would be wrong. Instead, Jesus gave us not one, but twelve prophets, or as they are usually known, the Twelve Apostles. When Judas died, they got Matthias. When James died shortly after, Paul became a new Apostle. Again and again, as one prophet was killed, a new one was added, to keep the number at twelve apostles. But then, things took a turn for the worse. As if persecution from the Jews wasn’t bad enough, the Romans added another stack of persecution to early Christianity. Making things even worse-yes, they get even worse-some people began spreading false doctrine, confusing and distorting the truths Jesus and His Apostles has taught. They tried their best, and put down some false teachers, but apparently it wasn’t enough. Repeating history yet again, the church no longer received any new prophets-likely due to the combination of false doctrines all over the place, and never-before-seen levels of persecution. Following the ancient pattern, the Bible seems to tell us that the only reason is that we do not have prophets any longer is because we are so wicked, we are unworthy of them. Or, we haven’t yet reached the repent-or-get-rekked stage of wickedness. All it takes is on glance at the news, and that’s not very hard to believe. Perhaps there was a prophet, or two, in the past. But, most likely, the people were so wicked, that they might have even killed that prophet, because they thought that they did not need any more Bible(which is, like, a terrible thing to say. Why on earth would you not want to hear God’s word-not just His word to Paul, but to you! A modern Bible!) are people, even in the modern age, so terrible at listening to God’s love that, should a prophet appear, they would instantly try to kill him? Unfortunately, it is highly likely that, if he were to survive the hordes of murderers and armies, the world would distort and disrupt their words so badly, what we would hear of God’s new church would be too warped to make us believe-this prophet would say, “you need to repent to be saved,” and the world would say, “look! He said that God hates you, because He won’t ever save you! Now, we know he is a liar, and a false prophet, because we know that the Bible says that nothing you do is evil, and Satan is not evil, for there is no evil.” Or, he would say, “to keep the family intact, we aren’t letting children born from adultery get baptized unless their parents want it. Because, you know, coming home from church and saying, “hi mommy, hi daddy, I learned that you’re going to hell” would be a terrible way to do family bonding time,” the world would definitely say, “look, this church hates children people who have extramarital sex!”
I am a former Protestant, and have made the decision to convert to the Catholic faith. I haven't voiced this decision openly to everyone I know yet, many of whom are Protestant (or at least non-Catholic, or even anti-Catholic), but I look forward to the day that I can, and intend to. There are so many things they don't understand, that I myself didn't understand about Catholicism until recently. However disturbing the inclination to become Catholic was to me at first, I am nevertheless grateful to God for being led to the historic faith once delivered to the saints. For Protestants reading this, I would urge you to read the writings of the apostolic fathers for a deeper comprehension of what (and how) the early Church practiced during the first century; the letters of Clement, bishop of Rome, and especially the letters of St. Ignatius of Antioch, and Polycarp. These men were disciples of the apostles, and very Catholic. Too few Christians today are familiar with their work, and the history of the Church in general, which is a great cause for the disunity we've been experiencing for the last 4 centuries. Love to all my Christian brethren. Do not fight amongst yourselves. God the father, and our Lord Jesus Christ bless you.

Sorry if all you are looking for is "history". If you want salvation, then faith in Christ Jesus is all that's accepted according to scripture. Gods word predates all creation, so if how old something is, is all that matters to you, then that would be the way to go.

I find it very odd that The Catholic Church was the one Christian Church for 1500 years until a priest, Luther, decided he didn't agree. So he edited The Holy Bible. He removed books and edited others and as a result, others copied his example and started their own sects. Henry VIII could't get a divorce so he simply deported or killed the Catholic priests in England and started his own church and the Anglican Church exists today. Most if not all protestant sects rely on a Bible that is no longer the original complete version but, rather, the product of a priest, Luther, who may have been slightly deranged to begin with. The Catholic Church is, admittedly, a church full of sinners but then so are the others. The Catholic Church has been attacked from within and from the outside by communist and active homosexual agents and others with one goal in mind. They have not succeeded. Christ said the gates of hell would not prevail. God gave humans free will and the ability to discern. Everyone is free to believe as they will.

mike teixeira, do I really need to explain about Henry? England was/is a powerful country which has repelled invasions from catholic countries such as Spain, Germany and France. Luther was protected and hid by German princes and people who sympathized with his points. Many Christians who raised objections to Rome’s practices were exterminated and one only need to look at the history books to see the iron fisted rule of the catholic kings and the influence of the νatıcan on those kings and princes.

For St. Paul justification is by living faith, and we receive this living faith by hearing (Rom 10:17), and it is poured into our hearts by the Holy Spirit (Rom 5:5) through the sacrament of baptism (Rom 6, Col 2). But none of that condemns or denies increases in justification through good works in accordance with the moral law done out of love (agape) for God. Those who profess to be Christ’s will be recognized by their actions. For what matters is not a momentary act of professing, but being persistently motivated by faith (The Letter of Ignatius to the Ephesians, ch. 14:2).

You have to be careful with your language. One of the charges Protestants like to put against us is that we 'pray' to Mary. We do not pray to Mary, we ask Her to pray for us. Mary cannot answer your prayers, but she can intercede for you and add her prayer to yours. All prayer must be directed towards God, but there's nothing wrong with asking our Holy Mother, or any of the Saints, to pray for us.

The practice of asking Saints in heaven to pray for us is both biblical (Revelations for one) and historical, i.e. practiced by the early Church. You should read the works of the Church Fathers, they are undeniably Catholic. Nowhere in the Bible does it say that Sola Scriptura (The Bible alone) should be practiced. The Bible even appeals to traditions OUTSIDE of the written word.

I remember with awe the moment I first saw one of the US reconnaissance flight photos of Cologne Cathedral while flipping through an encyclopaedia as a child. The photo itself was remarkable but the symbolism was jaw dropping. It was very inspiring, it may have altered the course of my life. There are many photos of the Cathedral taken from that flight. Are you sure? Mary had faith in God, which then in the old times she sinned like everyone else, thus she had to have her sins forgiven through the sacrifices. God obedient to Mary? Jesus submitted to all authority as we are taught to. That was turning his time on Earth but he created Mary and Mary just like any person was a sinner and she needed salvation.

No one says that Mary is superior to our Lord...that would be sacrilegious... But let no one downgrade the mother of our Lord as well. @@catholicintoeternity5679 Mary was a good woman who found favor in the eyes of the Lord but she had sin. She is not Divine in any way shape or form and she is not a mediatrix. You cannot justify that in the scripture at all. So no I'm not insulting Mary she was a saint that was saved by faith in Jesus Christ she was a vessel and she will probably have good rewards in heaven but she will not be exalted because God does not share his glory with another

I have the ultimate argument to utterly destroy all of Protestantism. You may know that Martin Luther, when he split from the Catholic Church, he may have had some good ideas, but he was missing a very vital key: the authority of God. Assuming that the Catholic Church is false, that means that, in his day, there was no more authority to lead the church of God. Even if Luther split from the church, the mere fact that he, too, lacked the authority of God, to just go and make a new church, meant that the Protestant church is inherently corrupted. Without God’s own O.K. stamp on the new movement, no angel coming down to announce the return to truth, means that it must not be true. The only true church that can ever exist is the one that at least claims to get their authority and origin straight from God-all other churches are of a man, and not of God. Thus, the only two churches on earth with any degree of godly authority are the Catholic Church and the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Beyond these two, there are none other which so much as bother to even pretend to come from God. To decide between the Catholics and the Mormons, however, is a whole other matter, since it is extremely difficult to pin the truth tail on the right church when both claim to come straight from God.

Do you really believe that when Jesus declared: "I will build My Church; He waited until 1830 to finally do it?. There is only one Church where the Eucharist is celebrated and believed. So the word 'Protestant' was given to those who separated from the One True Church five hundred years ago; and unless one belongs to the Catholic Church; one is in protest. Your church is certainly not the original Protestant church of Luther; but she is the result. The Holy Spirit doesn't support and guide 35 thousand+ truths. WHATEVER YOU BIND ON EARTH well, it would be strange to think that God would wait a long time to put prophets on the earth again. On the other hand, Catholicism does have a history of corruption and popes screwing up doctrines in order to gain power. Where Protestantism turns to dust in the face of logic, Catholicism and Mormonism don’t fare much better. In their own rights, both religions have substantial resistance. For instance, although waiting till the 1800s to restore apostleship would be a long time to wait, the Israelites probably thought it was weird for Jesus, a poor carpenter’s son in a backwater town to be, well, Jesus. On the Catholic side, although some popes may have been corrupt, this obviously does not mean that the religion itself has become corrupted. You see, as time wears on, it is likely that these two churches will be the only ones left, all others having been proven false. There is simply too much logic on both sides to denounce one or the other. We can only wait for Christ to return, and then claim the true church.

My question to you goes as follows: "Have you read 'all' of what Luther taught?. I mean 'all of it'?. If one can't see his mental and moral problems after having read his entire history; I have a hard time imagining it... He started about 'indulgences'; and he was right, but indulgences is not a dogma. He was a disobedient and controlling man, and not fit to be called a disciple of Christ, because our Lord warned that listening to the Church He called: "My Church" is like listening to Him; and despising same is like despising Him. Moses had 'all' the sins committed by his people 'forgiven' just by asking God to forgive them, so Jesus gave the very same power to His Church... all Luther had to do is ask forgiveness, he he would have been forgiven. Instead; he spent the short time God had given him here on earth to 'bash' His Church. He was not the successor to Saint Peter, and he should have been humble enough to pray and show good example instead of spreading hate, which caused over 35 thousand denominations until today. Surely; you would agree that the Holy Spirit doesn't inspire 35 thousand interpretations of the truth. I have prayed often for Luther, as I have a tendency to believe that he was not 'all there'; and perhaps not as responsible as it looks for his actions. God will surely not punish those who are not responsible for their actions. Reading Luther's life one sees that he was a deranged man. It is based on canonical scripture, and sacred tradition, as interpreted authoritatively by the magisterium of the Catholic Church. Protestantism is heresy, and everyone interpreting Christianity on their own, because they have no Shepard...one could say that they are outside the 'barque' of Peter... Your nastiness proves my point. You accuse the Church of hating women, and yet she is the only one loving the mother of our Savior. Yes; the only one fulfilling Mary's prophesy when she excalimed: "All generations shall call me blessed. The Church also want to let babies live and grow, and not abort them like animals. All you mentioned comes from anti Catholic bashing sites, and you have not taken the time to check what the Church really teaches, because you are afraid of the truth. When I started researching church history and looked for a more deepened faith, I was upset with how much had been hidden, all the tradition, saints and their life stories, the true beauty of a real church. I thank God greatfully that I was lead to Orthodoxy, research Catholicism a bit but Orthodoxy seemed to be what God pulled me to. Regardless much love and prayer to those who are Catholic.

I'm from Shillong, Meghalaya, which is located in the North Eastern Part of India, and I'm proud to say that I'm also a Catholic, here in Meghalaya there are no arguments between us Catholics and Protestants we all stand as one and we believe in Jesus Christ.
Why are we Catholic? Where else can we go Lord; you alone have the words of eternal life... Praise and honor to you Lord Jesus Christ ; in the most Holy Sacrament of the Alter!.
Please; at lease think about this for a few moment... For over two thousand years Catholicism has believed in the Eucharist, like the early Church did, rejected OSAS, given honor to the mother of God 'no less', listened to Jesus when he ordered the apostles to forgive or retain sins in his name, and all the the other teachings of our Lord... OSAS is not even in the bible, yet a multitude has chosen the easy way of 'Salvation without the cross'. The Prosperity Gospel goes exactly against 'If you want to be my disciple, take up your cross daily, and follow me"... Yet; many false religions call themselves 'apostolic' or the likes which sounds like coming from Jesus himself. We are commanded to not put God to the test. Just a reminder...

I can dig that. Some are fantastic. And Just about every CofC person that I know is an examplary one. But when any sect of Christianity claims to be the true Church ( which is fine ) and declares all others not, they are deceived. The " Church " are those who's names are written in the Book of Life.
Church of Christ is the people who believe in the resurrected Christ and follow HIm, what ever the denomination they are in. Evan a Catholic could be a body of Christ if he or she is in Christ, by rejecting idol worship and mariology. People are saved not because of the denomination or abomination they are belong to, but their believe in Christ alone will save them.

Jesus's first miracle at the wedding in Cana was performed after Mary's intercession to her son for the the people who ran out of wine.... And the Bible tells us that he gave much more than they needed. To ask Mary to pray for us is biblical indeed.
