Freedom of speech is critical in America, but everyone has to have the same freedoms. Goldberg, and the rest of that panel have advocated for years, to cancel various individuals because of speech they did not agree with, or found offensive. You can’t have it both ways. The First Amendment either applies to every American, or it doesn’t.

A SERIOUS CONVERSATION needs to be had when it comes to nationality, race ,ethnicity and religion. Definitions are intertwining

"The Holocaust isn't about race. It's about man's inhumanity to man." Where exactly is the antisemitism? She is saying that the way the Nazis treated Jewish people was inhumane. The only thing you can criticize her for is the fact that she didn't consider Jews to be a racial group. I don't think that came from a place of hate. Many Jewish people look white. I don't even like Whoopi, and she has had plenty of bad takes in the past, but I can't make myself feel mad about this.

People who have talk shows millions of people watch should be held to the same standards as politicians.

I decided a long time ago that when it comes to important topics, I do not listen to what any non expert talk show host has to say. That includes the ladies of The View. I changed the channel on that show a long time ago.

I don't agree with her but something doesn't sit right with me for how the show handled it.

Which show was ABC commenting on when they said “...kind, inclusive, respectful...”, surely not The View. The way they treat guest, especially conservatives, that have different opinions them they do. I feel they bring on conservatives just to verbally attack them.

She said nothing anti-Semitic. She spoke of the events of the holocaust as evil. Though her statement was ignorant, it was more an issue of semantics than antisemitism.

I cannot believe that she was suspended for 2 weeks for her view on the subject. She most definitely was not incorrect by what she said. Can anyone disagree with her comment? The show is called the view for a reason. What about all the horrible things said by our past president? Double standard. Or maybe this is really about race????

This matter actually exposes the poor understanding of the matter of race that prevades human society. Being Jewish isn't about a specific race (and "race" doesn't have a definite definition) as not even those who claim to be Jewish can all agree on what being Jewish actually is. What there was underpinning the Holocaust was what is referred to as antisemitism... Which defines a hostility to, prejudice towards, or discrimination against people generally perceived as "...Jews...". But be clear... During WW2, there were people who were killed as a part of the Holocaust simply because they gave aid to people perceived as "...Jews..." (reference Corrie Ten Boom). It should also be noted that the Nazis were carrying out a type of eugenics which included the killing of people with mental disabilities. To be a Jew would require a person being a direct descendent of one of the sons of Jacob, who later became named Israel (this is impossible to determine/confirm as there is no DNA available), or be a citizen of the nation of Judah (which hasn't existed for some 2,500 years), or be an adherent of/hold to the religion of Judaism. There is some thinking that being Jewish can be a matter of culture too. Suffice to say... Apart from holding to the religion of Judaism, no one can really have a valid claim to being Jewish... And even then, there are many differing thoughts on just what defines the religion of Judaism... Keeping in mind that it is impossible to actually keep the Torah (the law give by God to Moses for the Israelites) as there is no temple in Jerusalem to keep the requirements in (blood sacrifices). And yes, I understand that those who today claim to be Jews believe that forgiveness of sin is obtained through repentance, prayer, and good deeds. But this is just a human contrived fix... It is not according to the law God gave to Moses... Which tells us that blood must be shed for the forgivness of sin. So all this said... Given all the lack of real clarity regarding the matter of a Jewish race, religion, culture... Whoppi was not wrong in saying that the Holocaust was about man's inhumanity to man... Because that was exactly what it was. And scripturally speaking... That is exactly what we have at the very beginning of the Hebrew bible, in Cain's killing of his brother, Abel. Even in the story of Adam and Eve we have a type of man's inhumanity to man, as God told Adam that if he ate from the tree of the knowledge of good and evil he would surly die. I guess Adam thought he knew better than God... Which is to say... Spiritually speaking... Adam treated himself inhumanely. And the above are just two references regarding man's inhumanity to man that are within the Hebrew bible... There are many, many more. No doubt Whoopi could have spoken about the matter in a more considerate way... But she wasn't really wrong... The Holocaust was simple yet another example of man's inhumanity to man. And whether you like to hear it or not... None of us are above falling into the wretchedness that is the disposition that causes man's inhumanity to man... The fact is, it's inherent in natural humanity. Humans are just too proud to admit it. And there it is... The base of it all... Human pride.

Well racism is just the surface or pretty sugar coated way of saying. But these things exist due to man's inhumanity towards man. She is very much correct.

I’m so confused. Why couldn’t they have just said, “actually Whoopi, you’re wrong and here’s why.” And explain the other side or let her know what she said was off. Nothing she said sounded malicious or racist. That’s how we learn and grow, by having conversations.

I could never be a public figure, you have to be very deliberate with your words. I don’t think Whoopi meant to dismiss or deny what sparked the Holocaust. And I appreciate their response. It’s so sad that we hold a host of the view accountable for making this kind of remark but do nothing about politicians who use misinformation for their personal gain.

I have to admit, her words are correct. We are 1 race, HUMAN. So to say it was mans inhumanity to man. The actual problem in the entire world is discrimination from nation to nation, skin tone to skine tone, tribe to tribe, an endless disgust for what we as humans don't understand about others who have different life experiences and unwillingness to except each others differences. .
