Despite his humble beginnings as a mere count in Britanny in 876, Haesteinn knew the destiny of him and his dynasty lay elsewhere in the Mediterranean. He and a band of warriors set off for the island of Sardinia and within four decades had consolidated control within the Islands of Sardinia and Corsica, founding the Kingdom of Sardinia. Though he was beset by illness in the last decade of his life, his mind and sword remained sharp, he shall be missed here on Earth as the Valkyries take him to Odin's Hall. RIP Jarl Haesteinn - 805-910 AD Haesteinn was succeeded by his son, Ragnarr, himself at the ripe old age of 50 upon ascension to Kingship. Despite being of an intellectual predisposition than his father, Ragnarr knew he needed to assert his dynasty as a permanent force in the Mediterranean. The most obvious way to do this was sacking the Papal States. Despite not actually sacking Rome for reasons that are disputed, his armies smashed the meagre forces the Pope raised, even stealing the Papal war banner and mounting it on the wall of the Royal Court. He wanted the entire region to know that even the centre of Christianity itself was not safe from Thor's wrath.

have you thought about improving cultural acceptance with the sardinian culture and forming a hybrid culture? norse culture has a tradition making it cheaper to hybridize and you would gain some innovations

To me the flag, is the Scandinavians represented by the raven, of course. The yellow background waves are the harsh new sun rays in their new Mediterranean home. The shield around the raven is just the Scandinavians protecting themselves from the sun rays, to prevent sunburns, and skin cancer.

This is quite fun and is a breath of fresh air. Don't get me wrong, I like the usual EU4 stuff, but this breaks up the monotony a bit.

You have to turn your men off raiding in your home territory for them to replenish, it took me a hot min to figure out too.

18:19 There's three possible things at play here stopping you from looting. First, you can only loot things off of water, including large rivers, and cannot loot inland provinces unless you border them. Though as a Norse you might be exempt from this, or I may be misremembering and that applies to counties as a whole not just the provinces within them. Second, you can only loot provinces if you're able to hold the money you get from them. The money you can hold is 10 times the number of troops you have, and you were already holding 127 ducats. The province itself was worth 55, so you couldn't hold all that money. Again I may be slightly misremembering and you might be able to loot even if you can hold just one ducat from the province. Third, and I think this was what actually did it, Rome had a garrison of 2400. That was a thousand more troops than you had. I don't recall if you need more troops than the garrison completely, or just a percentage of the garrison, but being a thousand under you weren't getting through. Sorry for this being so long, I am a nerd.

You should enact scandinavian sucession instead of wasting renown on expensive disinheritance. In small realms you will not be out-voted by your vasalls.

In case you didn't know this already, i think you should wait on ransoming prisoners if you don't get all the money they're worth, for example you can ransome someone for 50 gold but whoever pays you doesn't have the money can pay you only 4 gold or how much they have
