Melody, The frogs are amazing! The bedrooms in the west wing face toward the moat and the frogs sing you to sleep. Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Leigh, very very common out in the countryside. Every village has a town hall and a mayor, but no services. But, everything you need is 5 -10 minutes away. It is perfect ! ❤️
Kristin, those frogs are so strange, it was pitch black and they could not have seen Phillip, they just sensed his presence... it is weird!! 😂 Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Cyd here. Thanks for the walk around the village. I loved the night sounds. Thank you Judy for your interview. It's great to know you have good helpers while Mark recovers.
Janey, it is indeed very peaceful here, and yet all services are less than 10 minutes away, and 45 minutes to Toulouse. It is perfect. Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Lorraine, that whole section of the village has red shutters and they are breathtaking! We are a listed historic monument, and as such we would not be allowed to paint our shutters red otherwise I would!! Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Phyllis, First, thank you fro your kind words, and second, you can't please all of the people all of the time!! Ha ha ha ha... Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Catching up on videos I've missed & this one was so nice Phillip & thank you for the tour!! I was very interested to see the tiny village & realize that, apparently, each village, town, city, etc., has its own Mairie! This seems to me a wonderful system for tying all the pieces, parts & people together throughout France!! Judy, you couldn't have hosted a better guest than Corey! Wow, he's a cutie & very charasmatic, but no more than yourself, I might add!! Thanks Mark & Phillip for another of your fun, informative videos!! Stay well & Blessings!! 🇺🇸
Jane, I am glad you watched this video and saw our little village. It is quiet and quaint, just the way we love it !! Thank you for your kind words and keep watching ! our ❤️ from France Mark and Phillip
Frank here from New Orleans. Just a note to say thank you so very much for mentioning me and how you (Judy) make me laugh so much I pee my pants. You have made an old gay guy happy. Thank you for being so kind and I look forward to meeting y’all n person one day soon.
Frank, I am glad you finally watched the video. Judy remembers the comment well ! Lol Much love from the Chateau and I know we will meet you someday... Mark
Truely loving your videos. I would like to see an arial tour of the property. That way, as Phillip does the walking tours of each individual section it makes more sense how a room or building fits in to vast puzzle of your Chateau.
I know what you mean Victoria. I love that Phillip takes us into each room and is a very detailed look! All the chateaus can get quite confusing and more so after you tour more rooms.
Anne, we love the red shutters in the village also. If we could get any with it we would paint all of our shutters red, but being a listed historic monument we would never be allowed to. Thank you for watching and commenting!!
I was going to say, Avensac mahes up most the village! I love this little impromptu video of the village! Makes me think of such a peaceful place to be. Oh my Gosh! Holy moly I got a shout out from Judy! ❤️. I'm over the moon!! Judy, geez you get all the single gals out there's hopes up with Cory! Well then, things can be appreciated from afar 😉 Phillip show us more of your little village! Mark! Goodness me those craps/crocks 😬 don't tell me you have a pair too 😁
Luisa, We definitely fall into the Castle with a village, as opposed to village with a castle, category! As to Corey, wait until you meet Steven! Lol, Thank you for watching and commenting!! PS....Judy sends her love and wants you to know that neither she nor Mark would be caught dead in craps !!! 😂😂❤️
@@atthechateau although a big castle with A small village maybe show us also what's near the chateau. (After just typing that... Y'all should have been on that we bought a village show!) shew, ok well good to know it's just Phillip 🤣 looking forward to the next episode ☺️
Hola Judy, I am so happy to recive this distigushed friendship tks!!! Love to you both!!! And of course Cory is taken hehe!! Phillip, great tour of the village, Love to visit some day. Saludos, Francisco
jass412, thank you and note that there will be more to come in the future including some visits and interviews with the local crowd. Thank you for watching and commenting!!
I absolutely love Judy and all of her manifestations! I’m almost caught up on the videos :). Glad that you are going with the lanterns and thank you for answering what I was wondering about them being lit. Such a sweet small village.
Judy! I'm excited you like the Armagnac & soda. We will have to share a toast in person soon. 🥃 Thanks for the tour of the village. I agree, the tower gate should be open for us to see. Cheers gents!
Glen, we are all practicing drinking the drink in anticipation of your arrival. I am glad you enjoyed the tour! Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Cindy, for a. long time we have been looking at finding a fountain for the front courtyard... oooh la la, tres cher! Lol... someday the right thing will come along. Thank you for watching and commenting!!
I agree with replacing the flower pots with the lanterns. I noticed during the walk through of the terrace that those pots would fit perfectly on those pillars by the stairs leading down to the park.
Do you have an actual scale floorplan of your chateau that you're able to brainstorm ideas & possible changes from? We found it's beneficial to have the floorplans in Autocad so you can make as many "what if" changes without incurring any costs. ❤️🙏
LoireValleyChateau, we have very detailed drawings that are digital and constantly evolving! Although I can use autocad, I prefer adobe illustrator since that is the drawing program I work in the most. I can also render, do sketches and create photo montages all in the same working environment. Best part for us is that I am capable and able to do all of the drawings myself, design, floorpans, elevations, electric, and plumbing. The heating we hired a heating engineer so I did not have to do that one ! Lol Thank you for watching and commenting!!
The editing and comments are hilarious 😆 . Love these individual sectional tours of the place. A great introduction to the chateau and channel. You really do have an absolutely beautiful Chateau. I see a lot of potential in the courtyard. Definitely needs a fountain, beautiful climbing roses , over the top wrought iron french tables and chairs, and a few topiaries. 😉
Reddragon, Thank you for kind words! and I am glad you enjoy the humor that I try to interject into each of our videos. As to the front courtyard, I think you hit the nail on the head ! Thank you
That was a lovely walk through your tiny village Phillip. How lovely, it seems so quiet. Honestly Judy every time I see you, I swear to god you are channeling Nathan Lane!!! We have frogs here at Pipers River, Tasmania pretty much on the same noise level. We call them puddle bops because that's the noise they make. We looked them up to see what they were actually called and imagine our surprise to find, they call them "Puddle bops". Apparently, the more frogs you have, the more pristine your water and environment is, because frogs are very sensitive. Who knew?!!
Angela, Thank you for your kind words. I looked up the frog you referred to and it may be that ours are very similar. More toad like and 5-6 long when sitting. They are so funny. On occasion we get them in the courtyard and they are sort of curious and afraid of us. We love them! Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Mary-Jane, intimate is one way to put it! When we closed our purchase we officially became villagers number 47 and 48 ! LOL, we is a tiny tiny little village with a lot of character! Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Hello you lovely Avensacers! Hehe! Phillip, someday (maybe around Halloween ) you're going to have to open those tower gates. They're always so mysterious- AND CLOSED! Maybe the frogs have some enchanting power that surrounds the ditch- I mean moat😎and tower doors. As to the village tour, I'm guessing you couldn't film the inside of the chapel. Too bad because I'd bet a lot of your viewers would have found it intriguing . Judy, thanks for the history behind the "Craps", but it doesn't make them any less disgusting. Also Judy, is it possible for you to go one ding-dang day without drinking on the job?Sheesh! Lastly, I can't say that I've ever heard a young Scottish man with a French Scottish brogue before. Well, I'm back to the shop. All my love, FROM THE STOVE❤
Herroooooo, tower gates... another video perhaps??? Hee hee, and the Church as well... we won't have any content left to film!! LOL... our love from france, Mark and Phillip
So nice to meet Cory and see the village. About how many people live there? Maybe once you get the Chateau up and running, some enterprising soul will open a little brasserie. I, too, am wondering how far away the nearest restaurant might be. Love to Judy as always ❤️.
Kay, Our Village is huge! We became villagers number 47 and 48 when we bought the chateau. The are traffic jams everyday here!! LOL We love it! It is so quiet and peaceful. All services are less than 5 minutes away, and it is 45 minutes to Toulouse. Perfect! Thank you for watching and commenting!!
What a beautiful serene village you live in! Judy as a fellow scot i understood corrie perfectly!! 😂 (my Scottish accent is stronger than his and I've been living abroad for over 30 years!!) 😀🤗
Anne, I practically needed subtitles to read what you wrote ! Ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha We do understand Corey quite well, but when it comes to a Judy interview, no holds barred! :) And of course it is a send up of an old BBC Little Britain sketch. Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Such a nice stroll through the village; thank you for sharing. Are there nearby villages with more conveniences and services? And, as promised, Cory was featured! We can remain hopeful as temperatures, ahem, continue to rise. 😅 Looking forward to the next update.
Dualcit007, all services, and open markets are less than 10 minutes away, and 45 minutes to Toulouse. It is perfect. Little Corey, Ha ha ha ha ... Thank you for watching and commenting!!
The village is so charming, and when the breadhouse gets renovated, perhaps it could be put to use making bread for locals? Would Judy perhaps be able to tell us what the different levels of localities are called? I hear terms like department and commune being used in various Château videos and, as such, I was wondering what the French call things like villages, cities, counties, etc. are called. Another fun video, thank you all! ❤
Steph, although very small Avensac is lovely. When we closed the purchase we became villagers number 47 and 48 ! Lol... Let me see if I can get this right... The village is the village proper, the commune is the surrounding area that comes under the jurisdiction of the village. The Department is the Gers, which is like a county, and Occitanie is the region, which is kind of like a state. There are other titles having to with public services and voting, bit those are above my pay grade. :) Perhaps Judy should take this on, but it might get rather convoluted... Ha ha ha ha Thank you for watching and commenting!!
@@atthechateau Thank you for the explanation, that makes sense in my head now. As for small community living.....it is something I have enjoyed though as you probably know, in the US, at least here it leads to lots of gossip. Seems like the french have at least some more respect for the private business of others to some degree. It truly is a lovely village.....❤️ I can see why you chose it, at least visually.
@@stephjezo6470 Steph, one good thing about small town living here is... as much French as we know and are learning we still cannot understand fast spoken French, especially in hushed tones... so if they are gossiping we can't understand it anyway!😂😂😂
@@atthechateau That is the way to find the silver lining for sure! 🤣 It does seem that as a rule, the French seem to be more private than us Americans.
Alexandra, Il ne fait aucun doute que le château occupe une grande partie du village. Nous sommes comme un gros poisson dans un tout petit étang. Lol Thank you for watching and commenting!!
It's so funny and nice i like your movies i am learning english for one year it's perfect to me i will listen them and i hope i will progress because my ears are bad😂 see you later i am neighboors i lived near Mauvezin 😊
Merci
What a beautiful village. And Judy will get a job break as I don't wear undies! "Depennds" . . . . . I see what she did there. This may be a dumb question, but is the courtyard wide enough for a horse drawn carriage to do a full arc when dropping off guests?
Peter, you never know what will come out of Judy's mouth ! 😂 and yes, the inner courtyard is large enough for a carriage to make a full circle. 😊 Thank you
@@atthechateau I'm so happy. When I make my arrival at the chateau, I want to arrive in my carriage. I'm just not sure if my farthingale will fit through your front door.
Elizabeth, Avensac is a great village, and yet all services are less than 5 minutes away, and 45 minutes to Toulouse. It is perfect. Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Monica, Thank you for bringing those up. They are a huge mystery!! we do not know when the upper floor of the wings were added, nor do we know if those ever were windows. If they were open they were double doors leading out onto what used to be a flat roof. The opening shape goes below the current roof line. Add to that, there are fireplaces on that end wall and we do not know when those were added either. It is a conundrum. Perhaps one day we will know. The only plans we have for the future of them is to return the shutters that we think were once there. Thank you and Happy Holidays from the Chateau
Spiroffd, It was indeed written for Judy by a talented man in California named Craig Lee. If I can ever get Phillip to sit at the electric piano and play the music live, it would be a proper recording and sound so much better. The current one is Craig playing live in California and recorded on my iPhone in France. 😂😂
Darlene, Yes indeed ! definitely green, we have intentions of removing the concrete walkways that run along the edges of both wings (they do not belong and were probably put there in the last 30 years), and putting in planting beds between each set of doors. The beds will be full of dogwoods, and hydrangeas, as well as Boston ivy planted to grow up the two front wings. By adding free wall to the front wings we will be able to bring visual focus to the Château proper. Now as to a fountain... that is a tough one, my immediate thought is absolutely yes! my second thought is... a fountain in the center would preclude the font courtyard being used for gatherings or functions, such as weddings. Our wedding business will have the distinction of having 7 different locations to hold you wedding, and I would hate to lose the front of the Château as an option. A great question, and I Thank you
Customer service rep, scullery maid, sommelier in training, laundress, Scots-to-English translator, and matchmaker. I hope the owners are paying you well, Judy.
Hi Brownowl34, the village is very mixed, 50 percent French, 50 percent non-French. We do have a fair number of older people, also a good mix of middle age, younger and children. We have French, Dutch, English, Italian, Spanish, Vietnamese, and Americans here. A bit of everything!! :) As always, Thank you for watching and commenting!!
@@atthechateau Hello and thanks for responding. That is interesting indeed. I wonder if you were aware of this before purchasing. It must surely be easier not to be the only foreigner!.
Hi 👋🏻 Again, we actually did not know. It was a big surprise. We feel lucky that we are not alone. Everyone in the village is supportive and fantastic!!
@@arnicepernice8656 Hi again... I wanted to write to you and let you know that I just had a DUH moment. I saw your response pop up in my email and glanced at your name/handle... and I finally saw it correctly... Brown Owl 34 as opposed to Brownow 134, eyes do like to play tricks and I apologize for Judy having misspoke your name. Our best from France, Mark and Phillip
@@atthechateau 😂. Perhaps Judy needs some eye laser treatment ,not glasses 😉. Looking forward to seeing the spring garden . I’m hoping you have lovely blossom and bulbs…..
Monica, it is just our tiny village that does not have anything.... yet ! 🤣 There is a town with two lovely restaurants and a bar, as well as a bakery and other shops five minutes away. 10 minutes the other direction is a big town with lots of wonderful places to visit. Mostly what we do is admire the incredible beauty that is the Gers 😆 Thank you and Happy Holidays from the Chateau
Mark, I have to say we actually do not need them because as we dig under the floors to resolve moisture issues we keep finding bid limestone blocks from the original Chateau. The builders of this chateau simply buried the old one. Lol... Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Kathy, I am not actually sure what your comment is. We spend a great deal of time and energy to produce our videos and we enjoy making them. That would be my response to a simple "Why?" Thank you for watching and commenting!!
Earth light studio, I am glad you enjoyed the frogs, they are amazing. I am sorry that Judy offends you. Judy is a character created to allow me to get to feel comfortable being on camera since I lost the use of my legs. The character is for the sake of comedy and for no other. I learned much of my sense of humor from great comedians and shows such as the Carol Burnett show. Raw slapstick. with a big wink wink to the audience. Judy was meant to be a one off riff on an old TV commercial by Time Life books, but the character received so much attention that she was invited to be a regular on our show. Again, I am sorry if we offend, and know that it is not meant to do so. The moments Judy spend on the screen are a chance for us all to lighten up and laugh at ourselves. Thank you for watching and commenting!!
TJ Bren, I certainly do not want to be called out or treated special because I love another man. We work very hard to produce our videos. Countless hours of filming and editing. Perhaps this was not our greatest video, but I believe our content in general is very informative and entertaining. If you have enjoyed our content up to this point, I fail to understand your harshness. We are like a music album, there are songs you love, and songs, you don't, but you listen nonetheless. I hope we produce future content that is to your liking, should you choose to watch again. Thank you for watching and commenting!!
