The Village Railway Station with the Secret Hidden Platforms
Rolleston Junction Station in Nottinghamshire was indeed once a very busy Railway Station and Railway Junction.
Originally opening for traffic between Nottingham and Newark, later the addition of a furyer line off to Southwell and then to Mansfield created the need for a much larger Railway Station.
Thus extra platforms were indeed constructed and opened, and these continued to be used until 1929 and later 1959 for the island platform.
Closed for over 60 years, the site of the long disused platform lay hidden away, covered by nature with nothing to see but greenery.
But what lies below this? Join me as we discover some amazing forgotten railway history.
