Don, Do you have any idea when we (on the north side of the turnpike) can get to Magnolia Plaza and the Exec golf courses on the other side via the Southern Oaks bridge? I know the golf cart lanes across the bridge are open, but all the cart paths are blocked for construction. We (in St Catherine, Citrus Grove, Newell, Lake Denham, Dabney, etc) have to go 4 or 5 miles out of the way (past Warm Springs Ave) to the Water Lily bridge to get back to Magnolia Plaza, those golf courses, Edna’s, Fenney, etc I understand they don’t want our golf carts in the construction zones, but do you have any idea when we can get anywhere on the other side of the turnpike via golf cart? You always seem to be in the know. As always, keep up the good work 👍🏻
Thanks for watching. It would be pure speculation right now as there is little information available so far, but looking at the construction that is in progress right now, the focus is on Moultrie Creek and Shady Brook and not Well Point. Taking those 2 villages into account and the progress between MG and the bridge, my best estimate today would be late spring or summer at the earliest before they open up McNeil Drive. Even that may be overly optimistic because of the St. Tropez Rec Center, executive courses, EdenField, and Oak Hollow progress. Remember what drives the progress and opening of areas, SALES, that's why the bridge is open now, to sell MC and SB. Until they need to sell the area, they'll keep it closed as much as possible to keep attention focused on the available inventory instead of people speculating what is going into an area.
As always, great video. Especially enjoyed the added mentions of new projects slated around the villages. The work going on south of the turnpike is a massive undertaking. You’re doing a stellar job memorializing the progress. Cheers!
I can’t believe it’s been 2 years since David’s passing - hugs of comfort to you and your wife. Field of Dreams at Brownwood is CLOSED???? No way!!! Unbelievable. They took soooo long to build it and furnish it and we drove by on Friday and it looked open. And now it’s closed???? What is going in there??? More Loft style apartments??? Also, what’s up with no pools at neighborhood rec centers and the new Country club??? So weird. I am loving Fenney more and more !!! And the new area of Richmond being built - i didn’t see a rec center or even a postal station- so I guess they have to cross Meggison for those things. AWESOME VIDEO - very shocking with all the updates and changes. I am truly thrilled and excited to hear The Developer is planning another 25 years of building more of this awesome place and all the new amenities and wildlife!! It takes me 1 hour and 40 minutes via golf cart to go from my home to the bridge at Orange Blossom Gardens- can’t imagine how long it will take in 10 or 15 years to go from South to the North! Thank you again - my mom and I are addicted to your videos !!
Thank you Mushkie, Monday was a hard day for Debbie and I to get through, the emotions aren’t as raw lately, but the pain of his loss is as deep and real as ever. SoD closing in Brownwood was a shocker to me also, a huge investment, perhaps it will be converted to retail, not much is known yet at this time. I had just found out a few hours before publishing the video and decided to edit it in right before the final rendering. Like you, I don’t understand the lack of pools. Certainly a shift nobody expected, the only constant in the universe is change. Thanks for watching.
Don, I must say thank you and great job on these videos! The quality of them and the information has vastly improved. I believe your warnings about construction areas are spot on. Unfortunately, the same people that complain about them will be the same ones driving/golf carting into them. By the way, we use M&S A/C and couldn't be happier with them! They are top notch and their service personnel are so professional! Keep up the great work...and keep these informative videos coming!
Great video, Don. I always look forward to your construction updates. I am happy to report that I was at Salukis Rec Center earlier this morning and a pool has been roughed in to the right of the building!!! They must have put it in sometime after you filmed the flyover video. As someone planning to buy/build in the area, it was a welcomed sight!!!
The day after I published this video I went back by Salukis and there was a pool under construction. I'll post a correction in video 136. It was a little suprising as normally the pool is started very eary on in the constrction process, this one was started very late.
Another great video Don. Earlier you were putting the road names while you were flying, I really found that valuanle to understanding where things were.
It was something that I tried for a while, the downside was that it took quite a bit of time to do and added a lot to the editing time. The videos take about an hour of editing for every minute of video that you see posted, so adding even a couple of hours can really take its toll. The feedback that I received was that the maps and compass had more value than the road names, so I focus on them. There are a lot of elements and tasks that go into the editing process that take a painful amount of time to accomplish. There are a lot of other things I'd like to do and include in the videos but I have to draw the line somewhere or else the information in the video would be out of date before I could publish it. Thank you for the feedback and watching. If I can find an easier way of adding in the street names I'll add them back in the future.
Thank you for another informative update. We take it that the Spring Thing that was previously scheduled for March has been cancelled since we have heard no further mention of it. God Bless you, and your Son's soul.🙏
Spring Thing is still on, a few balls have been dropped in the process but they’ve been gathered and things are all on track for March 23rd. Next video will have information.
@@GoldWingnut good to know...that's a busy time, best to let people know early🤗 (Let's have things a little closer together...not so spread out, perhaps, maybe?)
@@roxiejacobsen2060 yes, more compact this year, it will be at Millennial Park in Wildwood on Powell Rd. just north of Brownwood - yes, golf cart accessible. I'm not driving the bus on this one.
That field North of Dabney is where Platt Dairy disposed of the dead cows. When we encountered a dead cow, we wrapped a chain around the neck and dragged them to this location behind the tractor. Ken Platt had us stop at different locations instead of piling them up in one spot. That way it looked like the cow just dropped dead there. I personally put about 5 or so there in the 3 years I worked there in the 1990s. The buzzards took care of the rest. The cycle of life.
Nice job Don, any news on new Fire stations near Newell area? Also Why can I drive my golf cart over the bridge to Eastport and Middleton some of the busiest areas in the Villages construction, but can't access golf coures including Lowlands, Loblolly, longleaf Gray and Red Fox. thank you and keep up the great work informing us all.
From what I'm finding, one is scheduled to be built somewhere near the Lake/Sumter county line along Centeral Parkway, but it's a few years down the road yet. McNeil drive and the areas surrounding it are still under construciton and the heavy equipment is frequently crossing and utilizing the unfinished roadway. Bottom line is that it is not yet done nor safe for general traffic. You can drive your golf cart to the courses you mentioned and all of the rest in The Villages, it may not always be a quick and easy as you'd like, but it is doable.
What's the likelihood of the villages puting spec homes on those unsold lots in the Enclaves? They would not want to have a long term construction zone for those residents.
A lot of rumors, but nothing official has been put out by either Costco or any other reliable & confirmable sources. But by barber’s nephew’s ex-girlfriend’s step-father assures me it’s a done deal…
Must have been thinking about a new car at the time, or it could have been Dawine. Thanks for the catch, sometimes I get rolling on the voiceovers and forget to pay attention to my notes while I’m speaking and editing.
Another great video! Thanks so much for all the hard work that goes into them. My apologies if this has been asked before, but where can I get a copy of that color coordinated, per village, map you use during the transitions?
Hi Don. Great video…as always. One question, you mentioned Oakwood Golf Course…is that what was previously shown on Continuing The Dreams as the Woodlands Golf Course?
You’re probably right, sometimes I get moving a little fast and forget to double check my notes on things when I’m doing the voiceover, there are 3 errors like that in this video that I’m aware of. I must have been hungry and thinking of the Oakwood Grill and having some ribs.
Love your videos, thank you for what you do. I'm curious as I've noticed you pronounce Edenfield more like, Innfield. Is that because it's actually how we should be saying it?
Edenfield is correct, I notice the error during the premiere showing of the video also, there are a couple of these oopses in the video. Sometimes I get rolling and forget to double check my notes when I’m doing the voiceovers. Thanks
At the 10:44 mark, where you talk about the new firehouse, am I seeing things correctly in that there are two homes which have their access completely blocked off?
Great video. Wondering if you know how or where I can get full length maps of TV that include all the neighborhood names. I love the ones you use in your videos. What application are you using?
I’m assuming you mean Well Point as there will be no homes in Eastport as this is a commercial/recreational area with no homes. Well Point will probably start with homes in about 3 months, best guess on when Eastport will be open for business is perhaps 15-18 months.
Caught that one did you, I’d already had 3 cups of coffee that morning. And yes for someone who’s been living in Florida for the last 20 years 47° is a little bit chilly especially when the wind is blowing.
You also don't appreciate the amount of time, effort, and expense incurred to create these videos. You probably think that I'm getting rich from the YT ad revenues, well you're wrongm it's not as great as you think, perhaps a penny or two per view. RU-vid premium accounts for about 1.5% of my total views and
