Wow ! That is some serious cash for a Golf Cart. At those prices it would make more sense to buy a used Jeep or smaller SUV with air conditioning and power windows for rain. Yamaha makes a good product but its hard to believe residents are paying these kind of prices for one. Thanks for sharing.
The Villages Golf Cars sell a lot of golf carts so when the sale is over, they've made their money from you and have little interest in hearing from you beyond the sale. Just to put things in perspective, we paid over $20,000 for this cart, so I have to believe that they made a few bucks on the deal. During the showroom discussions, the sales agent said he could upgrade to a larger cooler at no extra cost. I accepted his offer. After we got the cart home and drove it around, we had the occasion to use the cooler. The larger cooler interfered with the Curtis enclosure. The lid wouldn't open. I called the salesman and explained the problem and asked to exchange it for the standard one that normally comes with the cart. No Can Do. Cough up $50 bucks and he'll fix me up. That kind of dealer should be avoided like the plague. I like the cart but there's a lot of dealers around that could have matched their price.
It would be great if you do an updated video of the prices of carts and maybe even include other dealers since this topic is not really covered much on RU-vid. Thanks.
Ok if you want gas, then yes by all means buy the Yamaha Quiet Tech. For one major reason other than Yamaha builds great products from Motorcycels to pianos. But that reason is the suspension, yes the gas powered Yamaha has four wheel independent suspension with dampen coil overs at each wheel, that help that cart have the best ride handling in the business. The only downside is speed, the cart is only built to go 19-20 mpg and is very expensive to get it to 25, plus will void the good warranty. I’ve ben researching carts and have found what I feel is the best electric cart built in America. That’s the Tomberlin E-Merge SSCoupe two seater. It’s a 48 Volt cart with a built in 1,050 watt on board smart Charger with e highly rated Sevcon 450 amp AC Controller. Along with custom independent front suspension Double Ended Rack an Pinion Power Steering! Front and Rear adjustable coil over shocks w/Anti-Roll Sway Bar. 12.25:1 ratio all Aluminium Transaxle, (8) 6 Volt Trojan batteries. 12 Volt Power port USB port and 5 year warranty!! Plus has automotive locking steering column, self-canceling turn signals DOT Approved AS1 Glass Windshield. LED hi low beams and taillights. Plus 3point seatbelts. But the best four wheel brakes with front disk rear drum with electric automatic parking brakes. That is my new cart in bright red with matching roof.
A four seat club car, non lifted, which are better than Yamaha and Ezgo, go around $10k loaded. Lifted right around $12k loaded. They definitely overcharge at this business by a few grand at least.
I bought mine in Alabama. I have an 09 club car precedent electric I bought it in 2010 I paid 2800 bucks for it with rear flip seat. People that Buy golf carts in the villages pay $13,000.
@@sonofmabarker very true!!! lol adam wainwright of the st louis cardinals bought a 20k custom golf cart for another cardinal player... so ya people do spend money on these
I have a 2003 Club Car DS 4 seater I paid $2500 for with a lift kit...i added new batteries , new tires and wheels , Plum Quick Bandit motor upgrade and only have $4000 in it . Going to do a wrap and new controller and still will have less than $4500 in it and the thing is fast .
That's bullshit prices there, they're just price gouging those old geezers. You can get those same carts in Miami for a lot less money. Don't buy your cart in The Villages, prices are jacked up because they're popular there.
Yes, many of them do look expensive. But, these aren't your typical golf carts. Upgraded materials, higher speed engines, turn signal mirrors, gps, etc will do that to the price. It's why I bought used.
I can buy at gold kart on amazon for 400 dollars and your expecting me to buy a 12k dollar golf kart? Feel bad for the people getting ripped off in this area
I beg to differ. But Yamahas are around the same price as Club Cars here. I live in Texas and I do not know why there is such a but difference. I was hoping someone could tell me why. Maybe it is because the golf cars are in a big demand in the Villages or maybe there is some registration I do not know about. Anyway I would put Club Cars and Yamahas on the same level. I see the carts at my club are about equally split between the two but I see more older Club Cars than Yamahas. The local dealer did tell me though that if he was to purchase a new gas cart he'd buy a Yamaha. He also told me to keep my 2002 Club Car as it is better than either of the two new carts as far as construction.
I think it's a combination of the customization of the carts as you see here. Working for a Yamaha golf car dealer, I can tell you right away that not a single seat cushion on any of the Yamahas you just saw can be had from the factory. All custom ordered from the aftermarket. And Club Cars are not on the same level as Yamaha whatsoever. If you look in our shop, almost all the big projects are EZ-GOs and Club Cars. We sell EZ-GO as well, but I don't have to even and sell the Yamahas; they sell themselves.
You can buy a BRAND NEW car for $13,000 that gets the same gas mileage (40 m.p.g. or better), plus you'll get AIR CONDITIONING and a MUCH QUIETER RIDE and the backseat passengers get to ride FACING FORWARD (riding backwards makes many people dizzy and sick) and the ABILITY TO DRIVE OUTSIDE OF THE VILLAGES. The only drawbacks of a car over a golf cart is that you'll have to pay INSURANCE and DMV LICENSING AND REGISTRATION FEES for a car, whereas a GOLF CART has NONE of those extra costs.
Nissan Versa S Sedan and Chevrolet Spark LS 4-door hatchback (both of which have manual transmission for those prices, I admit, and 95%+ of people will probably sink in another $1,000 for automatic transmission...which will turn them into $14,000+ cars)
Problem with the Yamaha golf carts are their head and tail lights look so cheap. They maybe LED's, but the old round shape makes the carts look so old.
Love the golf cart with the green and blue seats! They should put Steven Assanti from My 600 lb life on the back of that 4 seater without making him fall off that golf cart! Would love that cart with the green and blue seats if they're available!
Wow being ripped off in Florida, who would guess? The villages, a swamp rip off by mail scam from the 60s. and people are still being taken for a ride.
I won’t do business with the villages Golf Carts. We bought a cart , which they also sell, for less with someone else. We are really happy with our cart. When we tried to get the Villages Golf Cart to put on an after market back seat, which they are the authorized dealer for, and they said they wouldn’t install it because we did not buy the cart from them. All things were equal, and they sell the exact same Yamaha cart for way more money…..I think they are a bunch of crooks gouging older seniors.….Buyer beware….
Hilarious that people are complaining about the prices, Sure you can go buy a 8 year old jalopy off of Craigslist for two grand, sure it might work fine and if you are handy you can fix them easily. BUT try to go on Yamahas homepage and actually build one on there carts and you will find real quick that you’re looking at a bare bones base price of 8.5k, add blinkers, windscreens, bagholder etc and your looking at 10k, most of the carts in the villages golf cart showroom have additional aftermarket upgrades like buckets seat, floor mats, mirrors, enclosures, back seats, upgraded rims etc. those upgrades can easily cost a few grand. Point is they don’t make as much money on the new carts as you think, they try to make it on post sale service, special gas and their “refurbished” cart sales, just like a car dealership nowadays they make the bulk from things other than new car sales.
I assume you're one of the Villages Truman Show drones who lives in that Villages bubble and are trying to justify why you just got rammed in the ass by a golf cart salesman for your over priced fleet gold cart.
No I don’t live there, my in-laws live there, we found a nice second hand cart for them for a great price. Like I said In my post, you get what you pay for, if you bought the cart from Yamaha bone stock and added all the parts you would be close to what you would pay at the villages golf carts, without labor. Sure they buy part cheaper, but they are running a business. It’s like saying I can believe people pay 100k for a new Mercedes when you can go buy a nice car on Craigslist for 10k, there are people who put a lot of value on getting a brand new piece of equipment customized the way they want it.
I got a brand new 6 seater golf cart with speakers and led strips lights running under the golf cart for 11,000 these golf carts are the same price and u barley get anything
I have a 2018 Club Car Precedent I bought new for $8,000 out the door including tax but I've since made it street legal put a Sunbrella enclosure on it and I've probably got 9000 in it now.
Rudest snarks we ever met the area surrounding it is a crime ridden hell. Villages are filled with people out age however they tell Security if you have friends over for a little get together on our porch. Constantly harrasment from people who are so far in debt yet think they are better than you
Donny Dickerson what aspects of the Villages don’t you like? Why do you think living there is a rip off? Your feedback would be useful to those considering moving there.
Yes, I got a used cart for $4,000. These golf carts here are all upgraded for The Villages. There are not your average golf carts. High speed gears, marine grade fabric, etc. Yes. you can buy off property. Many do.
these are just fancy!! these dont even appeal for the demographics with a normal median yearly salary... i mean dont get me wrong if i had money like these people had ofc i would buy one... but all i want is a simple one to tow some rods n reels and a small cooler n tackle box... hop at a few different ponds n a local restaurant/small store in a rv park... dont need all the bells and whistles... can always hook a blue tooth to a portable speaker as i drive the go cart if i needed... im just a minimalist
Ridiculous prices for a golf cart. I think the cart company takes advantage of the seniors at the Villages. Those carts shouldn’t cost more than $2000 brand new.
sonofmabarker it’s a golf cart for crying out loud. How can you justify paying nearly $20,000 for those carts. I’d rather by a smart car or a fiat 500. You can keep your golf carts. I think the Villages is place that soaks seniors for money. It’s a gimmick.
These carts are way over priced! They are trying to take advantage of the old people. A 3 or 4 year old cart like these should be priced for less than $6K.
sonofmabarker The sales person I am dealing with even states you can get a loaded golf cart just outside the Villages for a whole lot less. And they will pick up your cart for service and return it to you!
